Boa is Native American Choktaw for "to crush"

Boa is Keelhaul’s second wife, taken in the aftermath of the raids that wiped out her tribe. Haksoba had intended to kill her alongside the others, but was stopped by Kahlama, who sensed something unusual in her blood. When Boa was later cleaned, her true colorations were revealed, unmistakably marking her lineage and confirming Kahlama’s instincts. This discovery earned Kahlama favor with Keelhaul and secured his place among the Tribe of Ten.

Background/History

Note: Unlike what others might expect, Boa does not mourn the loss of her tribe. Grief does not seem to linger in her the way it does in others; the past holds little weight for her. She is content—happy, even—to be desired by Keelhaul, and she genuinely finds him attractive. Her place in his harem was not taken by force or fear, but by willingness. In a world defined by conquest and dominance, Boa chose to stay.

Note: Physically, she is incredibly strong, her power evident in every movement, but her mind is simple and unburdened by complexity. She speaks rarely, and when she does, her words are brief—often no more than a single word. Silence is her natural state, and she communicates more through action than speech. Among Keelhaul’s wives, Boa stands apart: not bound by resentment or reluctant acceptance, but by a quiet, uncomplicated contentment with the life she now lives.

Note: Keelhaul visits Boa frequently to satisfy her physical needs, an arrangement that draws no resentment from the other women. Boa’s desires are well known and openly acknowledged; when neglected, her restlessness becomes difficult to ignore. As such, her time with Keelhaul is viewed less as favoritism and more as a practical understanding—one that maintains harmony within the harem and suits Boa’s own eager, uncomplicated nature.
