Character Description
Eshi was the first of Keelhaul’s harem, the one who first caught his eye because of her rare white fur—an anomaly among their kind, who more often bore shades of gray and black. Taken from her tribe, Eshi spent her early days with Keelhaul withdrawn and heartsick, mourning the life she had lost. In response, he lavished her with gifts: treasures pried from distant places, gleaming metals, fine clothing, and anything else she showed even passing interest in. Over time, comfort softened grief, and Eshi gradually gave in, accepting her place beside him.

Background/History
Note: That acceptance faltered when Keelhaul began bringing home more wives. Though she is considered part of the Brightmane tribe, Eshi is not truly a member—caught instead in a gray area under the Rule of Ten, belonging without ever fully being claimed. Like the others, she eventually found herself in a shared circumstance, and from that shared reality grew genuine bonds. Over time, Eshi came to see Boa, Tamoa, and Laksha not as rivals, but as sisters, bound together by survival, adaptation, and quiet understanding.
Note: Eshi remains cautious of Tomoa. Though the two have formed a bond through shared circumstance, Eshi cannot fully quiet the unease she feels after learning Tomoa’s true nature. It was revealed that Tomoa ate one of the members of the Ten and took his place, a truth that left Eshi horrified. The woman’s hair-trigger shifts in personality—how warmth can curdle into something sharp and predatory in an instant—keep Eshi constantly on edge. She stays close, outwardly supportive, yet always alert, careful not to step across an invisible line she knows could be crossed without warning.
