Character Description

Tiva is a female whose imposing build conceal a woman who has spent years learning how to make herself small. Long ago, she was fierce, confrontational, and intensely independent—exactly the sort of person who would bare her teeth rather than lower her eyes. That person was gradually dismantled after she fell into Keelhaul's hands. Whatever happened during those early years left scars deeper than anything visible. He did not merely defeat Tiva; he conditioned her until resistance became something she instinctively buried.

Background/History

Tiva is Choktaw meaning "to be opened"

Ages later, Tiva remains at Keelhaul's side, but her role has changed considerably. She functions as both maid and madame within his harem, overseeing the everyday needs of the women under his roof. She maintains their rooms, organizes necessities, settles disputes, keeps track of who needs what, and quietly makes certain nobody is forgotten. She knows Keelhaul's habits better than almost anyone and has become exceptionally skilled at anticipating problems before they attract his attention.

Among the harem, Tiva can initially seem cold and authoritative. She expects rules to be followed, dislikes disorder, and rarely explains why certain things must be done a particular way. Much of this strictness, however, is protective. Tiva learned through experience which mistakes carry consequences, and preventing another woman from repeating one of hers is one of the few ways she still exercises meaningful control over her surroundings. Her warnings can therefore sound less like advice and more like commands: Don't ask him that. Don't be there tonight. Give that to me; I'll handle it.
