You know, I think my tombstone should have "Pencil..." etched on it. :p
Anyway, the featured pencil is the 'Salmon' by Grafos (previously: 'TOZ'): a former Yugoslavian company that ceased production sometime in the 1960s ...only to be restarted in 2016 as 'TOZ Penkala' (the company presently exists in Croatia). ^_^
The featured pencil was probably made sometime in the 1950s. :3
The 'Salmon' looks like it should have a thick, black core, but it does not---in fact, its core is fairly narrow. I don't have a pointed one to test, so I cannot comment on its performance. ^^ Though what attracted me to this pencil was (of course) its name---pencils with animal names tend to be elusive and scarce. Well, animals that aren't of the avian phylum, anyway. It's odd, but most pencils with animal names are named for birds (I don't get the correlation, but there you go). As for fish, I can think of only four that have pencils named for them (though there may be more): Great White, Goldfish, Pike, and (of course) Salmon (of these, I'm missing 'Pike'). :p
There is a rare Eberhard Faber pencil simply named 'Fish', but I've never seen one offered for sale (and it'd come very dear if ever one did). D:
For those wondering (ie, no one), I pronounce 'salmon' as 'sam'mon' (silent L). Some pronounce the L, but I do not ...and I suppose Gene doesn't either ...mostly because his mouth is full; Gene is too polite to talk now---besides, he doesn't want dinner to escape. :3
It's not tilapia, but it's the next best thing lol.
You can just hear Gene purr as he sinks his teeth into it. You can take a cat out of the wild, but you can't take the wild out of the cat. Hope no one interrupts him, I can imagine Gene being a really mean boy to anyone who would want to stop him from savoring his catch.
I just love it when you have your characters act like their feral counterparts. Now do one of Talsi... no wait... that'll involve him looking cute and innocent... we all know we can't have that lol.

I beg to differ. Contrary to popular opinion bunnies are fussy creatures. Easily made irritable. Tasli fits that description. Its part of the reason and characterization for why Jonathan doesnt like his ears touched, and is so easily surprised, both things Jonah habitually does that annoy him a bit.
Kyaw on the other hand is the stereotype of the sweet gentle bunny to a fault. As far as I know hes got no problem with being touchy feely, but then thats just with those he likes. If he were being teased by bullies he most definitely wouldnt want them touching him. Basically unless a rabbit really trusts you they are not into the cuddles.

Very nice, I can just see him sitting next to a big bear discussing the best way to catch salmon. :D
I hope someday you find a "Fish" pencil and also someday you find one sharpened that you can test cause I do like Eberhard Faber and I can't believe that they would put out a subpar product with a funny name. :)

I actually did a search in response to your hope ...but no luck! D:
Usually when I find a grail pencil, it's mixed in a listing of assorted ones (the sellers often know nothing about pencils). If I see something I like, I'll contact the seller to see if they'll let me buy just the ones I want (I offer well because I know itforces them to relist). It's a bit brazen/entitled to do this (I guess?), but I've had some luck ...not always, though.
The pencil is a Futura Try-Rex!! (a pack of 6 can sell for $80-$100) ...granted, this one's sharpened, but not so bad I couldn't feature it. I made an offer, explaining I didn't want the box, just the pencil. The seller didn't want to break it up (reality is they don't want to take new pictures). I could just buy the whole thing, but I won't out of principle (I would if the pencil were unsharpened). :3

I have NEVER even SEEN a "Leave a Note" box before let alone coming with paper AND pencil so this to ME would be a find. I'm sorry the owner wouldn't sell the pencil separate but I can see his point ( aside from the fact that he just didn't want to take another picture ). Hopefully another Futura-TryRex will show up unsharpened but for now alas we both remain pencil-less.

I'm unsure ...I signed an ACO with it. As of writing, it 'should' be my 09/29 upload, presuming I didn't delete it after uploading (happens sometimes). ^^
