Well, what would you suggest? ^_^

I was going to redraw the aracde machine I made to earn a DA badge during Arcade Week ...but I lost the drawing (so there was no chance of that happening). :p

Well if it were my comic I'd take it as an opportunity to invent my own crazy game. Something with a provocative name that suggests something cool/weird or silly without actually explaining anything, like "The Nexus" or "SuperClusterBusters" or "Perplexo-Hexis" or "The SubAtomicTurboTronic" or "Hypernauts" or "TransistorBros.", or "RezzBlaster", or "FaZorFerret", or any number of other insane mashups. Once you got a cool/crazy sounding name you try to figure out what the game is actually like :p

P.S. The Nexus is probably the best choice as it's short, sounds intimidating but doesn't actually suggest anything ^_-

Also I'm a fan of the 80s (and that was probably the height of arcades anyway), so I'd pick something that has a retro feel to it. But that's just me.

It wasn't like I was making a criticism by the way. Just an amusing observation. (No one else commented upon it yet).

lol. Yeah, I'd just have fun with it. It doesn't have to be a serious decision.

Of course you can always throw in an obscure reference too, like Polybius (extra points since it probably never existed!)

I could have neglected words entirely and just drawn Mikey from Nick Arcade on the cabinent. ;)
Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
That's true, maybe just some snazzy art, or a character, or designs would be enough.

Anyway, it's fine as it is as well. I think "Game" is pretty funny in itself.

IceAgeChippies
3 years, 11 months ago
That's a deep, philosophical question there! XD
SageOfShadow
3 years, 11 months ago
The shortest question are the scariest ^^
Exemple : "Why ?"
IceAgeChippies
3 years, 11 months ago
The 'why' question usually presents a challenge in that it demands an explanation.
'How?', 'When?', 'Who?' and so forth, are more submissive in nature.
SageOfShadow
3 years, 11 months ago
That is even worse when the "why ?" Isn't followed by anything and without any context. That would be like asking someone an explanation about everything....or nothing...XD
IceAgeChippies
3 years, 11 months ago
Indeed. That would be the question for (and possibly from) God. ^^
Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
For me the two ultimate why questions are:

Why is there something rather than nothing?

and

Why is anything the way it is rather than some way it isn't?

(I guess the first question is actually just a special case of the second with an added assumption that non-existence doesn't require an explanation while existence does. That notion itself is curious. How do we come to that unspoken conclusion?)
IceAgeChippies
3 years, 11 months ago
If only nothing existed, the question couldn't be asked (no one to ask it). :3
Existence requires explanation because an 'is' (of a describable and consistent sort) is attached to it.
If it wasn't, the question would lack meaning (because what 'is' or is established one day, may not be so the next).

'Is' is a fun word (just ask Bill Clinton!)
Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
Even if no one is there to ask the question, the question still exists. If nothing exists ... why does nothing exist? See the question can still be asked. I'm not convinced this assumption is anything more than our own human bias.

Although we don't typically think of it this way, perhaps the idea that "existence" requires an explanation is again human intuition. Perhaps that's why there isn't an answer ... because there was never suppose to be one.

Yes that's hard to think about. Yes it would be counter-intuitive. So is special relativity and quantum mechanics. Our intuition has a bad track record for the big questions.
IceAgeChippies
3 years, 11 months ago
That question can only have reality in a universe in which existence takes place, and in that universe, the question exists only as a what-if ...and what-ifs generally meander outside reality. :3

I 'lean not on my own understanding' here (and will say no more on the matter). :3
Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
We are leaning on our own understanding though ... that's the whole point. We are talking about something neither of us can actually understand or know for sure and using our intuition to say how "obvious" this or that is.

I believe ideas exist independent of physical manifestation (necessarily they are therefore "outside" reality in a certain technical sense), you do not. More precisely, I believe concepts are a priori, and you think existence is a priori (correct me if I'm wrong).

As a rationale for my position I offer this: could something come into existence without the concept of it also existing? Doesn't seem possible. On the other hand we think up concepts all the time in mathematics which may or may not have a physical manifestation. If existence is a priori, it means that when we "think up" something imaginary then it must have already existed somewhere/time. Why should an idea imply necessary existence?

I don't think we can go any deeper than this even if we wanted to. At this point we are at a deep enough level conceptually that we are just talking about presuppositions neither of us can prove. We are just gonna talk past each other unless you want to identify all of our presuppositions (which I'm sure you don't). I feel like your last point was more a re-iteration than a new point (you simply elaborated on your existing framework), and I'm going to quickly run out of new things to say at this fundamental level as well (and just start repeating myself).

So, truce? Don't want to start a fight with you, even though I do like ideas.

Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
Anyway, don't take anything I say personally please. I think my mind is trying to develop a new philosophy and sometimes it comes out in conversation or I have new little insights. Don't worry I won't talk about these ideas anymore. As I've said before our friendship is more important to me.

But just for myself, I feel like one day I'm going to have to organize and make sense of these ideas and write a philosophical treatise of some sort (plus this way no one has to read my ideas that doesn't want to). It's always in the back of my mind but I keep putting it off because I don't even know where to begin, it's all very amorphous. I think I've been trying to come to some conclusion about religion/philosophy that I can make peace with. I know in your case that you have already found the worldview that you feel comfortable with. I am not trying to take that away from you. People are entitled to their beliefs, just not their actions (since they can affect others negatively). We could agree on that I think?

Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
That's fine. I understand. I've stopped caring about certain things too ... it's just not ideas ... different things. I guess trying to achieve someone else's idea of success or happiness or something like that. I just want to find my version of happiness, make peace with the nature of reality (to the best of my knowledge), and fulfill my creative impulse. Everything else seems superfluous at this point.

Btw do your bunnies always have blue eyes, or is this something new?
IceAgeChippies
3 years, 11 months ago
More like I appreciate how the eyes look colored on this dull-yellow paper/I want them to be different from the insides of ears and so forth. :3

I barely know how to color---I just fill in. I know coloring is a skill involving blending tools, baby oil and so forth. Just not worth it to me to learn, esp. at my age and with my health.
Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
Ic, makes sense. I think it works, especially with Tasli's white fur. Blue eyes are also really sexy on anyone ... :)

(My Character Jonathan Jackrabbit also happens to be a white rabbit with "azure" (sky blue) eyes).

Btw I think Tasli 3 is my favorite. He looks pretty cool here. Nice job. I don't want to go crazy and say it's the best Tasli ever (I probably haven't even seen every item in your gallery), but I think it's fair to say it's up there. Oh and while we are at it, I also like the way you drew "Ice Cream Bunny" here. Normally I pay her no mind, but I like the style here for some reason.

P.S. Why is Gene so bad at this "Game" ;P
IceAgeChippies
3 years, 11 months ago
I just threw all this together. ^^ This quickie, especially, as a friend 'accused' me of 'trying', during a FB chat about my Manuelita card. Hence I decided to make a conscious effort to care less than usual ...which itself entails trying and effort ...darn it! D:

Gere's better at Montezuma's Revenge (SMS). ^^

...So far, only one watcher has caught the gag that's on that screen (and commented on it). ^^

IceAgeChippies

Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
Ironic. I like it. My character Jonah is the oddball/nerdy sort and yet he has a lot of rambunctious physical energy (he's a chipmunk after all). You'd expect the cooler Jonathan to be the more physically impressive one but he is actually physically frail. Both boys enjoy physical acitivity. Jonah prefers less goal oriented play though and has a hard time following too many rules ( as in baseball or american football ), but he can hold his own in something simple like soccer. Jonathan is perhaps more reserved (not as wild as Jonah) but can be highly competitive if he knows the rules to a game. Jonathan is also a lot more intellectual than you might think and can compete with Jonah in Chess, though he isn't as good at things like Tetris or a rubriks cube. In any case, they constantly surprise each other with their physical and mental prowess. It is a constant source of both admiration and resentment towards each other.

It's fun to mess with expectations.
IceAgeChippies

Mubba's main thing is his skateboarding (which can be competitive). I can picture him rockclimbing and partaking in other similar activities.

I know little about sports, IRL. ^^
Zivrshka
3 years, 11 months ago
I'm not much of a sports guy myself. Never had any interest in "spectator sports" growing up. I was never very good at aiming. Still, soccer seems to be one sport I can get behind actually playing even though I am not very good at it either.

I just noticed you gave Tasli a slight blue tint to his hair. He looks kinda good with blue hair. Is that something you are trying out? Is it likely to become a more permanent feature? (Just curious).

Also, for a "no effort" this is actually really well done. You probably have just gotten really good at your characters so they require a lot less effort. Guess your just gonna have to not try at all :p
IceAgeChippies

The hair color is likely from my charcoal pencil collecting graphite dust from the line art. lol None of my art is inked. ^^
Zivrshka

Inking takes too long and I like the rough quality of pencil myself. I try to clean up my art a bit but you can still sometimes see the linework underneath.

Same. This one especially, as I drew it with a hard pencil, then went over it with a soft, darker one. ^^
