Background/History

Skewer was more than just a chief—he was a plague upon his tribe, a nail driven deep into its heart, rusted and unyielding. His word was law, his knowledge unquestioned, his rule absolute. Yet beneath the guise of wisdom and strength lay nothing but cruelty and greed. He coveted only the finest— the most beautiful women, the richest garments, the rarest foods. Power was his only true love, and he would kill for it.

His rise to leadership was a tale of betrayal. His own brother, Nail, once a beloved figure among their people, was cast into the swamps under false accusations of murder. Skewer orchestrated it all, whispering lies, weaving deception until his brother's name was stained beyond redemption. Alone and exiled, Nail was left to either perish in the bogs or claw his way back to vengeance.

Skewer ruled with a twisted sense of preservation, one that saw worth only in strength and purity. Eugenics was his philosophy, slaughter his method. He bred warriors like cattle, discarding the weak, disposing of children who did not resemble him—one way or another. Some whispered that his power came from something far darker, that he had made pacts with demons to ensure his dominion. None dared to speak such thoughts aloud.

His harem was vast, a collection of women reduced to pawns in his relentless pursuit of the strongest offspring. His son, hand-picked and shaped into his image, was to be his heir. The rest? Mere vessels for his ambition. And yet, for all his cunning, for all his cruelty, Skewer was blind to the very thing that would bring his downfall—his own arrogance.

Hubris: His end came at the hands of Shine, his second-in-command, the woman he had raised since a child. When she refused him, he took his vengeance in the only way he knew how—with brutality. He disfigured her, marked her face with his rage, and cast her out, thinking it the ultimate humiliation. And in his hubris, he made his final mistake. He turned his back.

What he did not know—what he could not have foreseen—was that Shine carried a child. The woman he had thought predictable, broken, and discarded was now a mother with nothing to lose. Fueled by the raw, unrelenting need to survive, not just for herself but for the life growing within her, she returned. In a moment of poetic justice, she tackled the tyrant to the ground, and with relentless fury, sawed through his neck until his reign ended in a pool of his own blood.

The tribe watched in silence as Skewer's severed head rolled, his lifeless eyes wide with the realization that even the most powerful can be undone by those they underestimate. And with his death, the iron grip he had held for so long was finally shattered.

Note: Tiptoe was going to be one of his wives, but she was too young at the time to be wed.

Note: Break looked at Skewer as a father figure, even though Skewer only ever treated him as a tool.

Note: It is hinted at that Asiy bore children for Skewer but he didn't let her keep any of them.
