Elephant in the room: I colored this traditionally, but enhanced the colors with digital means via Seashore. In this way, the customary and familiar graininess of my unskilled coloring fails remain, while also allowing the characters to pop. :3
And, yes, this comic is DUSTY ...like VERY dusty. I gotta figure out how to clean under its glass. :P
Anyway...
Seems the trailer wolves have brought a bucket with them to the stream---no doubt they are looking for things to eat. :9
Let's see what they find...
MAE (excited; to the twins): "Ohohoh! Did you find a crawfish!? Lemme see---don't let it get away!"
MAE (showing the catch to her mom): "The twins caught this. What is it, Mom?"
WOLFMOM: "It's a freshwater clam. It's too small to eat"
MAE (annoyed): "Is not! Peas are small but you make us eat those!"
WOLFMOM: "All right. Put it in the bucket"
LUPE (holding a popple): "Look what I got!"
POPPLE: "Puh-puh-put me down! Lemme go!"
WOLFMOM: "Good boy! In the bucket!"
MAE (shouting at the twins): "Well, what are you looking at---go find a bigger clam!"
The popple must've been hunting crawfish, too, but as it sometimes happens, the hunter became the hunted.
Of course, there is a chance the popple could escape, but she'll have to think fast!
Either outcome would lead to both a sad end and a happy one. Popple pot pie is, of course, a delicacy, esp. when made with fresh vegetables from the garden (the wolf mom's veggies are the best there is, even if Mae would prefer ice cream for dinner). But, alas, the popple wouldn't get any. :(
It's clear who'd be happiest in the event of the popple's escape. And, sure, the wolves would have a nice dinner either way, but it's harder to enjoy steamed crawfish when you think popple pot pie could've happened instead (sigh). :3
Popple pot pie or not, Mae has the twins on assignment to find a bigger clam ...or anything that'll outdo Lupe's catch (Mae will not be outdone)!
But how to know if something is big enough? That's where our featured pencil comes in!
Pencil...
The featured pencil is a carpenter's pencil from American Pencil Co. (APC). APC changed their name to 'Venus' in 1956, so this pencil was made before then ...my guess is WAY before then! lol
Anyway, this pencil has an oblong barrel---it doesn't roll, but it will rock. ^^ I'm also unsure how accurate its measure is, but it doesn't matter. :3
I bought this pencil in a lot of three. The other two were sharpened, so I used one of the sharpened APC 'Ruler' pencils to sign this cartoon. :3

I took this paw print photo some months ago. It wasn't until I uploaded the photo to my desktop that I saw that, inside the footprint, was a tiny freshwater clam. <3

Increased popple sightings, playful mischief on the rise, and discarded clothing everywhere.. it's all quite a mystery! To which Mubba knows what is going on, as he always does with these kinds of magical things. It's the time of the great poppling, where everyone turns into a popple! He can't wait for it to happen to him too, it will be so much fun! Maybe there will be a big party! Of course, no one ever believes him and his silly nonsense. I don't know if it's a thing still but yes there was a Pen.is which was a legit pen website that actually sold pens of all kinds. Not sure if they MENT it as a joke but it was up for a long time.
Just like competition in the real world breeds better products and better prices for the populous; competition between older siblings breeds a bigger payload for dinner. Wolfmom definitely knows what she's doing.
The popple will definitely escape... when Mae and Lupe get into a fight about who found the bigger payload. Wolfmom will be disappointed. ;3
