A little father's day commission
~
Ion always enjoyed these times he spent with his dad. Every day after school Ivan was always there to pick him up even though he was the overseer of the country and would be busy with the country's affairs, he would always make the time for Ion. They would walk together to a small training ground near the city wall that was the home of some of the country's knights but usually during the few hours after school ended, the knights were out and the grounds empty. Ion had begun to show immense natural ability with a sword for his age, just as Ivan and even his grandfather did before him. Ion also really enjoyed swinging around the sword and to help encourage him, Ivan had a customized sword forged for Ion and would take him to the training grounds where he could help him practice, as even though he was talented, Ion still lacked some finesse. Ion also didn't really have any friends and was picked on a lot at school so this was also a great way to help him let off some steam, with Ivan making Ion promise he would not get into fights at school with his superior abilities (though this would still sometimes happen and cause some problems). Ion looked at home while he was pulling off different moves attacking the training dummies, with Ivan giving him pointers and encouragement every step of the way.
This time though, Ion seamed like he was getting a little bit ambitious with his maneuvers, with Ivan telling him to tone it down a bit so he wouldn't hurt himself. Ion seamed to listen as went back to doing some more basic stuff but suddenly he jumped up to do a more advance one but lost his footing and landed hard on one of his feet, causing him to fall to the ground. Ivan ran quickly over to his son, he didn't like the way he saw Ion's foot bend when he landed, and being a doctor before he became the overseer, feared Ion had broken his ankle. Ion tried to reassure his dad that he was fine, even getting up on his feet though when putting pressure on that foot, Ion looked to wince a little but he was trying hard to hide it. Ivan not buying it, made Ion sit back down so he could pull off his boot to check his ankle, with Ion letting off a little yelp when the boot was taken off. Ivan saw what he feared, that Ion's ankle was swollen up though he couldn't tell if it was broken or just sprained. Ion looking a bit worried with his father's silence while he was examining his ankle, was reassured by Ivan that he would be fine. Ivan decided he would take Ion home and observe his ankle before bringing him to the hospital, as he didn't ant to over stress Ion and he wasn't crying out in pain, plus with the swelling right now, any x-ray might not show anything yet. Ivan carefully slid Ion's boot back on, lifted him onto his back and started walking home. Ion was unusually quiet, with Ivan thinking he was scared that he would be mad at him for trying out that maneuver, so he decided to cheer him up. Ivan reassured Ion that he was not mad at him for doing what he did and started to bring up other topics to get his mind off his current predicament. It wasn't before long that Ion's mood began to rise and he became talkative again, with Ivan enjoying every moment of their conversation together.
It wasn't before long that they arrived home, with Ivan helping Ion change into something more comfortable and making him rest in bed for the remainder of the evening. Ivan stayed at Ion's side as much as he could, checking his ankle every now and then, making sure that it wasn't getting worse. To Ivan's relief, the swelling on Ion's ankle had began to go down, reassuring him that it was not broken though he still wanted to take Ion to have it checked out. After letting Ion get a good night's sleep, Ivan took the day off to take Ion to the hospital and have his ankle looked at. After a few x-rays, it came back that Ion's ankle was not broken but severely sprained. The doctor wrapped Ion's ankle up tightly with bandages and gave him crutches, telling him to keep off the ankle for a few weeks and to wait a month before starting back up any more aggressive activities. Ion was disappointed that he couldn't play around at the training grounds for a while, so Ivan took him out for the day to cheer him up and to take his mind off things for now. During their lunch, Ivan told Ion that when he could start back up training again, that he would help him work on the maneuver that injured him, as with a little bit of practice in the steps, Ion would be able to master it quickly and prevent another injury. Ivan knowing this is was Ion wanted, he only wanted to encourage him and help him any way he could. Ivan still worried about Ion dong more advance things at his age but he could see that he was ready, that holding him back would only make Ion do what got him inured in the first place, the least he could do was to give him proper guidance, that way he could learn to do the maneuvers properly and safely. This really brightened Ion's mood to which Ion was grateful to have a father that supported him in whatever he wanted to do, even if it was a bit advance for his age, he cherished the bond they had between them.
