A young Ion and Zephyr enjoying their evening in the mist of glowing butterflies and fireflies. To Zephyr's annoyance, Ion always told him that butterflies reminded him of Zephyr, as when he first moved into town, Zephyr had what seamed like a cocoon around him that he didn't let anyone enter. Being an more introverted person, Zephyr was the target of many bullies, to which Ion participated in as, at the time he followed the wrong crowd.
It was not until a event in both Ion's and Zephyr's lives that forced them to spend some time together. From the outside Zephyr could see Ion was another person that was lonely and just wanted acceptance from others. He helped Ion realize that the people he was hanging around with were not his real friends and were only using him because of his need for acceptance. From then on, Ion saw Zephyr in a different light, his cocoon had opened up and Ion saw the beauty that emerged from within as Zephyr became the first real friend he ever had.
Though Zephyr hated Ion for saying butterflies reminded him of him, Zephyr did like the butterfly as a symbol for his soul, as he was gentile like a caterpillar who didn't fight back against the people who harmed him, instead putting a barrier around himself to keep others out. If it was not for Ion, he would have not transformed into what he was today and was glad he decided to open up and extend his hand out to someone else in need. Ion on the other hand, was fierce and feisty, once they became friends and Ion also started to become the target of the bullies, he would fight back for them both, taking many hits to the face in the process.
Zephyr then started seeing Ion in a different light, never expecting anything like this out of him. Zephyr was overjoyed that there was someone out there that cared for him enough to protect him at all costs. When Ion asked Zephyr what best symbolized him, Zephyr looked around and pointed to the fireflies around. Ion laughed and asked if this was because he was a lightning user as fireflies were also known as lightning bugs. Zephyr simply shook his head and to Ion's surprise, his answer was something more then he ever expected, Zephyr thought the firefly best symbolized Ion as he was also his first friend and he lighted up the darkness in his life
