Ion was surprised that such a high ranking and well know elite Contract Hunter in Narche had taken an interest in him. He had recently been informed that he was deemed a Reckless Hunter due to the amount of injuries, both minor and severe, some requiring life saving medical treatment, that he had been frequently receiving. The Hunter council after reviewing Ion's medical records could see that a lot of his injuries were a result of the actions Ion was taking, there was even a pattern of reckless behavior from his childhood where Ion had done dumb things, resulting in broken bones and large stitches just to name a few, he didn't seam to learn from his actions. This made the council see Ion as a danger to others, as well as himself as he was too risky in the field, he needed to be restricted for the time being and reviewed to see if he should continue to carry a Hunter licence. The council didn't think they would need to go that far as to fully revoke Ion from the organization, as Hunters of his age in their early twenties were very rare, they knew there was going to be some growing pains in a Hunter that young, but the frequency of his injuries from his first major one at 18 to his current age of 22 taking in the fact that he spent two full years recovering from his first major one, it was just too high to let it slide.
Narche after hearing this news about Ion, petitioned the council to assign Ion to her, as a Reckless Hunter is usually assigned an experienced Hunter to review them, their continuing actions and recommend to the council if they should continue in the organization or any next steps. Narche though had a somewhat different plan in mind, she had met Ion when he was recovering from his first serious injury, he was on a Contract that she herself had put out and was horrified to learn that such a young Hunter was brutally injured under her watch. Even though Ion should not have been aloud to take on her contract due to his inexperience, only being a Hunter for around two years, not to mention his age, she was impressed on how he was able to handle himself against such a formidable foe, even though he got seriously injured, he was able to last quite a while in a fight against someone who was on a vastly different level in skill, even managing to save his partner Zephyr's life in the fight, but it was at the cost of his arm among other things. Narche could see that Ion had great potential, taking an quiet interest in him right away and had really taken a liking to him latter during their meeting, when he told her that he had no intention of quitting after this setback, that he would find a way to continue on being a Hunter, seeing that fiery passion in his eyes. Hoping that this incident would only help Ion grow on how to be a Hunter, Narche kept an eye on him from afar, seeing what he had to go through to even get clearance to be a Hunter again, excited about the heights he could achieve, but it soon became clear he would need a extra push in the right direction.
After his long recovery, Ion was continually getting injured again and again, some major but mostly minor but still requiring medical attention and Hospital stays. Narche started to become furious at him, thinking that Ion was considering that he was more skillful then he actually was, that he was invincible, he did have great potential but he was wasting that potential. Problem was there was nothing she could do at the moment about that, only hope he would change his behavour before it was too late but after learning that he was declared reckless, Narche took this as a sign that her hope had been answered, now she could make sure Ion would go on the right path, she owed him at least that much. After the council approved to place Ion under her, Narche set out right away to meet Ion again, visiting him in the Hunter's hospital after his latest injury. At first she wanted to angrily scold him on his actions but after starting the conversation with him, her tune changed drastically. Ion overwhelmingly understood his current position, not even pushing back at the though of having Narche placed over him, something she didn't expect, in fact, Ion seamed to be relieved. He opened up to her, saying that every time he thought he was getting the hang of being a Hunter, he would quickly learn that he was mistaken leading to an injury, then he started to second guess things that he knew he should do while he was out on a Hunt, but that just lead to even more injuries. Ion confided in her that no matter how hard he tried, he didn't know how to handle everything, that he didn't know what the right decisions to make on a Hunt should be, that he was relieved that there was someone who was at such a high rank and well respected wanted to help him in the right direction, he was happy someone wanted to mentor him. Narche was taken aback by this, there was more to Ion then met the eye, he was not someone who thought he was invincible and needed a wake up call, he just needed some direction, he needed a mentor.
Narche still told Ion that she would be hard on him, but he didn't seam to care about that, Ion only wanted to get stronger as a Hunter and he was determined to do that no matter what Narche had in store for him, she could see that same fire in his eyes burning even brighter now. This lit a fire in Narche as well, she was more determined then ever to help Ion along his path, she liked the idea that she could be a mentor to someone looking to find their way and was glad that their mentor and student relationship could start out on the right foot, it would only be beneficial to the both of them. After letting Ion recover, Narche got straight to work, bringing him on a low level Hunt, not to only get his strength back after his recovery, but to help instill fundamentals in Ion's head, to get him to instinctively make the right decisions and actions fort whatever he would face. Getting to know Ion now at a more personal level, she could see Ion was just like her when she was his age, skilled and brimming with confidence but needed that someone to whisper a small sense of direction in his ear. No matter what she would teach him, there was one important lesson though that she made sure to continually drill into his head, that he was too skilled to get hit, that Ion's reflexes and speed should allow him not to take even a single blow, even when fighting multiple enemies. Ion just needed to hone his senses to detect all those around him, even ones that would try to hide their presence and instinctively figure out what their actions would be, make it second nature to dodge anything that came his way and to attack back when there was a decent opening. It would be difficult and it was something Ion struggled with at first, he still needed to push out the bad habits he had from learning on his own but the constant direction from Narche started to work it's magic as Ion was a fast learner. It started to look like a skillful dance when Ion was fighting against his targets, something Narche loved to watch in awe of what Ion was able to accomplish, he could even fight multiple enemies with his eyes closed if he wanted.
There was one thing she was very careful about, as Ion's skills improved, he did start to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder, it wasn't something she thought was bad, in fact she didn't want him to loose it, but continue to gain the skills in the proper way, so he could back up this little bit of over confidence he would sometimes display. After many sessions, when Ion had this main lesson fully down, Narche decided to let him push the envelope a bit more, while at first Ion was overly reckless before her training, with the skills he has gained there was no harm in letting him be a bit reckless, as a specific fighting style she had picked up could prove useful to Ion as well. With Narche being a rabbit, a species more considered weak, she had developed a tendency to use that generalization to play with her prey, letting them think they had the advantage and were getting the best of her but she would always make sure to keep a few steps ahead of them, striking back and taking them down when they least expected, it was fun for her though reckless. With Ion being a fox species, the generalization of them being sly and a trickster, this style would fit him nicely as well but she would also make sure to instill that if things start to go awry, while toying with your prey, then you switch modes at an instant and fully take on the situation seriously, it was the one condition Ion had to agree to if he wanted to use this style, a condition Narche took very seriously. Ion agreed and soon he started to master this as well, it was like this was second nature to him, it was something Narche could see Ion had fun with but he was still serious in the approach. She had confidence in Ion to use this mentality carefully, she would not to report this behavior back to the Hunter council, it was something that could be their little secrete between mentor and student, besides she was guilty of this behavior as well. Ion continued to thrive under Narche, gaining a lot more respect in Hunter circles and even shedding his label of reckless, but even so he continued train under Narche for the time being, as he felt he didn't learn enough yet, that he still needed some direction. This was true to some extent, while Narche had full confidence in Ion to go out on his own again without her watchful eye, he still had some habits that he needed to shed and she was overly great full when even the restrictions on him were removed, he was still fully devoted to her training, that he still wanted her as a mentor.
Ion still got a bit overly fired up before an encounter with his prey, it was something Narche was confident in, that if Ion was on his own, he would relax a bit once the fight started and his second nature would kick in quickly. But she stilled enjoyed placing a calming hand on his shoulder, feeling his stress levels dissipate as he felt her calming touch, knowing she was there with him, giving him encouragement and reminding him of her most important lesson, you are too skilled to get hit. It always placed Ion in a good mindset as he entered the battle, as Narche watched in pride of the potential she was able to help Ion reach.
