It wasn't too surprising to their parents when Ion and Zephyr declared they had started dating, Ion had seeked advice from his father about his feelings and with a bit of encouragement, he told Ion to express his feelings with Zephyr to see if he felt the same way, you never know unless you ask. Zephyr's parents on the other hand, had suspected Ion and Zephyr had some sort of feelings for each other, seeing how they reacted when they were together and the amount of time they would spend together as well, there was something more there. It was at this time that Ion and Zephyr started finding out more about each other, stuff that they kept more secrete up to this point but now felt it was best to share, though Zephyr did still keep one thing secrete, but it wasn't long before a situation arose were he would have to confront Ion with it. It was a Sunday evening, as Ion and Zephyr were coming home from Flint's tribe's grounds where they were training, a heavy rainfall had started as a storm had moved into the area, so the boys decided to head home quickly. But with the rain, came lightning and thunder, which as they were walking home, Ion noticed Zephyr was starting to slow down and fall behind. Ion was holding the umbrella, but Zephyr continually fell out of it's range, getting drenched by the rain where Ion began to worry he would catch a cold. Looking back though as Zephyr fell behind again, he could see Zephyr trembling, with every crack of thunder he would place his hands over his ears and shutting his eyes tightly, it was something Ion had never seen Zephyr do before.
Closing the umbrella, with the rain now drenching him as well, Ion walked back over to Zephyr, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder and calmly asking in the softest tone "Zephyr..., are you afraid of lightning and thunder?" "N... No... I don't know why you would even think.... ahhh..." Zephyr tried to reply in a shaky tone but was cut off when he began holding his ears again, as another bolt of lightning came crashing down, bringing in a loud boom of thunder. "Zephyr, it is ok, you can tell me..." Ion began to say, still in a calm and reassuring voice, as Zephyr suddenly wrapped his arms around him, holding him in a death grip while nervously shaking. "Ok Zephyr..., can you ease up a bit..., I am finding it hard to breathe..." Ion called out in a bit of distress, as Zephyr began to relax his grip, "sor...sorry..." Zephyr replied, "that sound, I can't control myself when I hear it ahhh..." he continued but was cut short again as another bolt of lightning came down, with thunder booming not long after. Ion began to run his hand over Zephyr's hair, then lifing his face up so they could meet eye to eye, "its ok, I am here for you, there is noting to be afraid of, it can't hurt you..." Zephyr then suddenly pushed away from Ion, "Easy for you to say" he retorted, "if lightning hits you, you will just absorb it, if I get hit, I will fry to a crisp" Ion was kind of caught off guard and placed a hand on his head, "Well true..., but still there is little chance you will get hit, and even if it come down near us, I am right here beside you, I will take the hit and protect you always" Ion said in a comforting tone as Zephyr started to relax a bit, hanging his head down "anyway, I cast lightning all the time during training, how come I have never seen you react this way before?" Zephyr lifted his head up, looking Ion back in the eyes, "Well... you would never hit me with it, when I see lightning in your hands I know there is noting to fear" Zephyr answered, bringing a small smile to Ion's face. "Well think of it this way then, I might not be able to control the sky, but any lightning that does come our way, I will move it away, so you have nothing to worry about" Ion cheerfully told Zephyr, with a large smile on his face but then quickly brought it back down, "but it is getting late and our parents will worry if we don't come home soon."
Zephyr nodded as Ion flipped back open the umbrella, with the both of them getting under it protection but with Zephyr still following a bit behind Ion. As they continued walking down the city streets though, Zephyr clutched Ion tightly from behind, resting his chin on Ion's shoulder to help cope with the thunder sounds that were still coming with each lightning strike. Looking to his side to see Zephyr's face Ion tried to comfort him again, saying "see the bolts are far away, they won't interfere with us" but Zephyr just kept on holding Ion close, with a stilled gaze in his eyes, as their walking speed decreased a bit, but they were making progress. Once they got to the city square, Ion started to go in the direction of Zephyr's home, but Zephyr tugged on him a bit, forcing Ion to stand still, saying "no, please can I stay with you, just for tonight?" Ion sighed a bit with a small smile before saying "sure" as he turned around and went down one of the other streets off the square, the one that lead Ion to his family's estate. Once arriving, Ion and Zephyr were greeted by Ion's father Ivan, where Ion asked him if Zephyr could stay for the night as he wasn't in good shape to go home at the moment. Ivan looked down at the two boys, "Ok that is fine, I will talk it over with his parents" Ivan began saying to Ion, "but I want you boys to get cleaned up, go take a warm shower so you won't catch a cold, either separate or together and then get ready for bed, it is a school night and your are home late as it is, so don't fool around too much..." "Ok, ok" Ion replied as he and Zephyr started walking up the large staircase. Ion brought Zephyr upstairs to the fairly large bathroom where they both hopped into the shower and cleaned off the grime from their long day of training and warming up from the rain that came down and drenched them. After getting out, they took turns drying off each other's fur with a blow dryer, with the both of them becoming very poofy with fluff, but at least dry. After helping each other brush down their poofy fur, Ion brought Zephyr to his bedroom, as he was still trembling a bit from the sounds of thunder that could be heard as they walked down the large hallway, where they got ready for bed.
As they laid in bed, beside each other, the lightning was still coming down, with each burst suddenly lighting up the dark room for a moment before the sound of thunder could be heard. Zephyr was still shaking a bit from his fear, making these cute whimpering noises every time the room suddenly lit up and the thunder crashed. Ion then pulled Zephyr closer, wrapping his arms around him in an embrace, where once feeling Ion's comforting arms around him, Zephyr embraced back, burying his head into Ion's chest fluff. Ion trying to comfort him, just petted the back of Zephyr's head in a reassuring and calming motion, telling Zephyr that it was ok and he was here for him, that he would not leave his side as Ion could start to hear Zephyr softly purr, hoping he had calmed down a bit. As the minutes started to go by, more lightning still came down, but Zephyr started to become silent, with Ion only hearing soft snoring coming from the face that was buried in his chest. Ion breathing a little sigh of relief, as Zephyr calmed down enough to where he was fast asleep, Ion leaned down his head and planted a small kiss on Zephyr's head, saying "good night my love, hope you have the sweetest of dreams." It wasn't before long that Ion found himself in the land of dreams, as the both of them were now fast asleep, still in an embrace of each other, with Zephyr snugly cuddled in Ion's fluff, as the rain continued to pour outside, though the flashes of lightning and the sounds of thunder seamed to have ceased.
