"Meeting at last"
Nasir is well aware of quite a few obscure magical creatures in his world, but there was one in particular he'd always wanted to meet: A "Coalescence", an IMMENSELY powerful being, with a legend stating that several of them teamed up to initially shape the universe! After discovering and exploring a temple that had been lost for millennia, and finding instructions on a ritual that could allegedly summon one, he just HAD to try it!
It took him nearly a week to set up the ritual, and he even had to wait a few days for the right conditions; the ritual was extremely complicated, and everything about it had to be absolutely perfect. Then, it was finally time, and Nasir excitedly began the ritual, flawlessly doing the rehearsed chants and gestures. The runic engravings he'd made gradually lit up, and with a bright flash... Nothing happened. It had to have been right, he knew that flash only happened if it worked, but... Nothing.
But, in a way, it had. In a dimension adjacent to his, a particular being felt a brief tug from the powerful magic. It was trivial for them to resist it, but with their attention now caught, and curious of who made the attempt, they decided they would follow regardless.
As Nasir turned away to look over his notes once again, he felt a voice, not audibly or telepathically, as if it were simply placed inside his mind: "Curious..." He quickly looked back at the ritual circle, and, standing inside, there was a four-legged creature that almost looked like it were a living galaxy... A coalescence. Their floating eye-like orbs regarded him as he tried his best to quickly get over being awestruck into silence at the sight of them. It seemed they assumed he'd be startled at the sight of them, but he wasn't; he had SO many questions to ask them!
This marks the end of Apto April! I had a good time with most of these, even though they usually didn't do well in relation to my normal stuff. Not quite sure I'll be doing it again next year, though. Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled aquaphilia.
