L: In a realm beyond our own, the home of gods, the winged serpent Quetzalcoatl - Quetz to his friends - lazes about, bored and not really sure what to do. Eventually though, he does get the idea to visit one of his divine friends, and after some thought, he decides to see if Arceus would be interested in hanging out with him, flying his way to where they live.
S: the god of all pokemon himself, Arceus, was just as bored as Quetz, just sitting on his throne and yawning, he's unaware that Quetz is gonna be coming by for a visit
L: Soon, Quetz arrives, and lands in front of Arceus. "Hey, Arceus! We haven't really talked in a while, how are things?"
S: arceus looks down at Quetz, and a small smile appears on his face
"Quetz, it has been a while... good to see you... I've been fine, lately I've been a bit...well...bored lately, there hasn't been much activity with these mortals for quite some time..."
L: "You too, huh? Yeah, not much has been going on, especially with me not exactly having many worshippers these days... But I was thinking we could just hang out for a while. Better to at least be bored together than alone, right?"
S: arceus chuckles a little at that suggestion
"I suppose that's true, sure we could hang out, but I'm not exactly sure what we could do"
L: "I'm not sure either... Maybe we could head to Earth for a little while and see if anything catches our interest? Definitely somewhere where there won't be any people, heh... Unless we disguise ourselves, at least."
S: "Ugh, I hate doing that...I rather just be myself, it's a good idea to head to earth tho...so I'm with you on that"
L: "Yeah, I've always hated disguising too, I'm glad I only rarely have to do that now. Anyway, let's pick out a spot to teleport to..." Quetz conjures a model of Earth, with towns marked so the two already know where to stay clear of.
S: "Hmm..." arceus spins the Earth around a bit to find a good spot to go to, eventually he points to one
"How about right there?"
L: "Sure, that looks like a good place. I'll see you there!" After focusing for a moment, Quetz teleports to the spot on Earth that Arceus had pointed to.
S: arceus focuses as well and teleports to the same spot where quetz went to
L: Quetz looks around, taking in the surroundings. "Looks like you really did pick a good spot, I like the look of this place already!"
S: arceus smiles a bit more as he looks around
"Seems that way isn't it? I like the look of this place too"
L: "Let's have a look around, see if there's anything interesting nearby..." Quetz flies up a bit and starts to glide around, exploring the area.
S: arceus simple floats up and flies along with Quetz, looking around for anything cool nearby
L: After a bit of time flying around, the two can see a lake below them. "Oh, might be nice to swim for a while! What do you think?"
S: "Ah, I haven't gone swimming in years, might be an interesting change of pace"
L: "Lucky we don't need to breathe, as well! Although..." Quetz blushes some. "You'll probably think this is weird, but... Every now and then I like to make myself need air, and experience water like an air-breathing mortal would."
S: arceus raises an eyebrow in confusion at what Quetz just said, but he couldn't help but chuckle at their confession
"Oh really? Heh, well there's nothing wrong with that, I mean I'll be a good challenge after all"
L: Quetz is clearly surprised at Arceus' reaction. "I-I thought you'd be weirded out by that! That's why I've never told anyone before... Do you mind if I make myself need air for our swim?"
S: "Nope, not weird at all... sure it's...unique but I like unique and sure I don't mind at all, in fact...I think I'm gonna do the same, I don't want this to be unfair"
L: "Yeah, it'll be fun to do that with someone else for once, I've never done that before! Okay, let's do it!" Quetz closes his eyes for a moment, before taking a deep breath and exhaling again, having not been breathing before since he had no need to.
S: arceus does the same, taking a deep breath and letting it out
"I don't recall ever doing this myself, so...I won't know what it's like"
L: "Well, when you hold your breath, you'll start getting a feeling of discomfort inside you that'll grow over time. Make sure to head back up to the surface before it gets too intense."
S: "Eww, so that's what those air breathing mortals do? Ugh, well too late now, I don't go back on it"
L: "Heh, yeah, we've got it a lot better than them... But anyway, let's get started!" Taking a deep breath and holding it this time, Quetz dives into the water below with a fairly small splash.
S: "Welp, here goes nothing"
coping what Quetz did, arceus takes a deep breath himself and holds it before diving under too
L: Quetz smiles at Arceus as they join him, his cheeks being puffed up. He talks to them through telepathy. "It's an interesting feeling, knowing you shouldn't stay down here too long now, huh?"
S: arceus talks back though telepathy, his own cheeks puffing up
"Yeah... it certainly is weird..."
L: "I've found that I have a pretty long breath hold even without me messing with it, and you're probably the same way, so we should be good for a pretty long time."
S: "Well I guess that's good, I wanna try and make this last"
L: Quetz looks around the lake, a few little bubbles leaving his nose as he smiles. "This already looks like a pretty nice lake... Wonder if there'll be anything interesting in it." He starts to swim, exploring.
S: arceus let's some bubbles out from his own nose too and he too starts to lazily swim around
"Hmm...seems very calm"
L: "It does, yeah... And even if we don't really find anything to do, it's nice to at least not be alone in doing this for once. There's been times where I almost gave away that I like making myself need air while diving..."
S: "Oh really? Could you name one occasion?"
L: "One time, when I was swimming through the Nile and seeing how far I could go on one breath, I happened across Sobek after my face had gone blue. Had to convince him I was trying out a new look, and I'm still not sure whether he bought it..."
S: "Oooh, that stinks... yeah can't really convince someone that you were trying a new look that way..."
L: "Yeah, since then, I've been making sure to be more careful about swimming in places where I might happen across other gods... I'm lucky that went even THAT well."
S: "Yeah, that was a close one honestly, definitely be a lot more careful..."
L: "Yep, that was centuries ago, and I'm still being careful about it... Anyway, you doing okay on breath?"
S: "Uh...yeah, I think so... what about you?"
L: "I'm still fine for now too. Trust me, you'll know when you need air. Hopefully we'll be finding something interesting soon..."
S: "I'm not sure how you'll know when we'll need to breathe, but...ok, yeah I don't see anything yet..."
L: "Maybe we could hang out with some fish? Or we could just make something ourselves."
S: "Fish, really? Yeah maybe we could make something ourselves to spice things up a bit"
L: "Alright, let me think. I may be a wind god, but I've managed to pick up a few tricks from other gods..." After a moment of thinking, then focusing, Quetz conjures up a reef on the lakebed, complete with fish and coral!
S: arceus' eyes go wide at that
"Impressive...you made a reef, that should at least be something"
L: "All this shouldn't stay here, it won't do well in lake water, but it'll be fine for a good while at least. How about you, anything in mind you want to add?"
S: "Hmm..." arceus does some thinking himself and then focuses, he makes some dolphins appear and smiles a little more
"You've said something weird about yourself, and now it's my turn...I really love dolphins, I don't know why...but they always seem to put me at ease"
L: "That's not weird at all, I like them too! They're actually part of the reason I got into breath holding, a long time ago I turned myself into one to see what it'd be like, and it was pretty fun!"
S: "Oh really? Well I'm glad I'm not the only one then..." arceus smiles a bit more, letting some bubbles loose
L: Smiling as well, Quetz swims forward to hang out with the dolphins that Arceus made, trusting that Arceus made them friendly.
S: arceus of course made them super friendly, he too swims over to hang out with them
L: As the two go over, the dolphins are clearly happy to see them, swimming around them with happy squeaks and whistles.
Quetz watches them, waving at them with a wing while he blows a few bubbles.
S: arceus waves at them too with an even bigger smile, this is probably the biggest smile arceus has ever made
L: As one of the dolphins comes over to him, Quetz starts to pet them. He looks over at Arceus, glad to see them so happy.
S: there's a hint of a red blush on arceus' face, but he's too focused on the dolphins to care as he goes over to pet one of them himself
L: Quetz is beginning to blush a little too, but he doesn't care either. A couple more dolphins each come over to the two, nuzzling them.
S: arceus was very much happy, his smile bigger then ever as he nuzzles some of the dolphins back, this goes to show even the god of all pokemon can be very happy
L: "You know, not sure I've ever seen you this happy before! Guess this is a pretty great way to spend some time after all, huh?"
S: arceus blushes a bit as he realizes just how happy he is
"Heh, I guess even I can get giddy at something"
L: "Just don't get so carried away that you forget about breathing, I'm starting to feel the need for that myself."
S: "Ah who cares about the breathing?? I'm having a good time!" he seems to have forgotten that he made himself need air this time, the dolphins were a good distraction away from it
L: "...Yeah, I'm sure you'll be fine for now." Quetz goes back to enjoying himself for the moment, playing with the dolphins that are near him.
S: arceus does too, while giggling out bubbles to himself happily
L: After a couple more minutes, Quetz pauses as he grunts a little from strain, his face being fully red now. "We probably shouldn't push ourselves much longer..."
S: but arceus was too busy having fun with the dolphins to hear what quetz said, even as his own face is fully red
L: At this point, Quetz's need to breathe is starting to outweigh his enjoyment, and he imagines the same will soon be true for Arceus, so he swims to them and taps on them. "Arceus! We'll need air soon!"
S: arceus turns and looks at quetz
"Huh?" suddenly he covers his mouth and grunts in strain, letting a burst of bubbles loose
"Oh shoot, I forgot that this dive we made ourselfs need air..."
L: "Yeah, sometimes I forget about that too... Come on, let's go breathe, then we can get back to this." Quetz starts swimming back to the surface.
S: arceus swims to the surface too and both of them gasp for air
"Sometimes I wish not breathing but this is a nice change in pace..."
L: "I've found it's sometimes sort of interesting to pretend to be mortal in a few ways. Needing to eat, drink, stuff like that... Helps that I don't have much to do these years."
S: "I suppose so... it certainly is weird, but hey you do you I guess"
L: "Takes a bit of weird stuff to spice up the time between mortals praying to me... But anyway, we may as well get back down there, right?"
S: "Man, I miss mortal praying to me, maybe we should do that once we get back under..."
L: "Does no one pray to you any more? I figured at least Pokemon would, but... No one at all?"
S: "I haven't been prayed in years... and nobody has obeyed me in quite a while, kind of hurts"
L: Quetz sighs. "You're lucky it's still in terms of years for you, my last was 3 decades ago, and I could tell they didn't really even believe... If it helps at all, I'd pray to you. Not that that counts, with me being a god myself..."
S: "Right... eh, you don't have to but I would appreciate it"
L: "Maybe we can talk to some of the more popular gods after this, see if we can get some advice... But that'll be for later, there's still fun to be had here!"
S: "Right, I'm trying to have a good day today... we should be having some more fun"
L: "So, back down with the dolphins? Or should we find something else this time?"
S: "Hmm... I do wanna spend some more time with the dolphins, I bet they are eager to see me"
L: "Alright, then we'll hang out with them some more!" Quetz takes a deep breath before returning underwater.
S: arceus does the same and dives under to go back to the dolphins
L: The dolphins are happy to see the gods returning, and after each quickly getting a breath themselves, they rejoin the two, ready to have more fun.
S: arceus decides to lead the dolphins much deeper underwater, not even caring about his limited air supply now
L: Quetz and the dolphins follow Arceus down, all of them being perfectly fine with going farther from the surface.
S: arceus keeps swimming down until they touch the bottom of the lake, about 70 feet deep
L: Quetz lands next to them. "You know, it's pretty rare that I just slither around underwater... Think I'll do that instead of swimming for now."
S: "Oh yeah? Well, go for it then! I don't think I've ever seen you slither around"
L: With that, Quetz starts slithering on the bottom to explore, and some of the dolphins tag along while the others stay with Arceus.
S: "Oh wow, you look so much more different slithering around like that, I kind of like it!"
L: "I hardly even do this in general, let alone underwater. Flying is a lot more convenient, but it's sometimes nice to take things slower like this."
S: "I certainly can't remember walking around myself, I hardly do that, since I can float around, but hey, I think I'll walk around here and take it slow"
arceus sinks down and starts go walk along the bottom
L: The rest of the dolphins start following as the two go.
"Pretty nice to be this far down, huh? Nice and cool down here, and it's not far enough that it's much darker than normal."
S: "It does feel really nice, I feel like the deeper I am, the more at ease I feel"
L: "Obviously don't go TOO far down while your body needs air... But yeah, underwater places make for good spots to relax for a while."
S: "Ugh, I feel like that ruins it, at that point I would just take a nap without needing air"
L: "Yeah, I usually turn off needing air when I do that. There's this cool ruin out in the ocean I like hanging out in, that's the best spot I've found for relaxing underwater."
S: "Oh yeah? That's real cool, I bet it's a really nice spot then"
L: "It is, it's right in the middle of a big reef! If anyone actually owns the place, they've never been there, and I've gone there every now and then for about a century now."
S: "That's neat, maybe you could show me where it is?"
L: "Yep, I can definitely bring you there sometime. Even right now, if you want!"
S: "Sure why not, but I don't really wanna leave these dolphins behind..."
L: "We can take them with us, that won't be an issue. Let me just clean up the reef first." After Quetz says that, all the coral and fish he created fade away, though he makes sure to leave the dolphins alone.
S: "Alright then, should be a good time then, lead us there"
L: "Okay, one sec..." Quetz focuses on Arceus, the dolphins, and where to go... And with a flash of light, the whole group is teleported to the ruins!
As Quetz had said, there's a big reef around, and some of the ruin's buildings are even still intact.
S: "Oooh, very very nice Quetz, I like these ruins already"
arceus swims over to them, his face just a little red
L: Quetz is beginning to blush some again as well, as he joins Arceus at the ruins. "I've been trying to figure out the origin of all this, but I haven't gotten anything yet."
The dolphins curiously swim around, inspecting the new area.
S: arceus gives one of the dolphins a pet, noticing they are feeling a little nervous as he looks around the ruins
"Very cool"
L: Quetz realizes the dolphin are nervous too, looking around at them. "Looks like they're kind of shaken up from us teleporting... I'm sure they'll be fine again soon."
S: "Don't worry, I'm taking care of this little guy..." arceus gave the dolphin a hug, and getting a hug from the god of all pokemon was amazing, it felt warm and cozy, he continues to look around himself
L: "Ah, that's a good idea!" Motioning a few other dolphins over, Quetz manages to hug several at once with his long body and big wings. They seem to enjoy that, using their flippers to hug him back.
S: "I give the best hugs, and it seems like they are really enjoying your hugs too" he continues to care for and hug the dolphin he's currently with as they swim deeper in the ruins
L: "I always thought hugging would be kind of hard for you, with that ring around you... But you've had all your existence to figure out how to work around it, so it makes sense that wouldn't get in the way."
S: "Yeah, hugging used to be hard for me, now not anymore, I can pretty much hug anyone now"
L: "Glad it got easier, hugging is always great! I used to just use my wings for hugging, but I eventually learned that wrapping myself around someone is a good way to hug too."
S: "Oh definitely"
with all the talking, arceus' face is fully red without him even realizing
L: Quetz's face is the same way, and even he doesn't notice for the moment, just continuing to talk to Arceus without paying attention to how either of them are doing on breath.
S: after a while, both of their faces are turning blue now, and neither of them still pay any attention
L: Unlike them, the dolphins recognize the two gods need air, and get concerned looks as they try to convey that to the two through squeaks.
Quetz watches the dolphins, not knowing what they're trying to convey. "Hm, something's gotten into them... Maybe they just don't like this place."
S: arceus notices that too
"How bizarre... they were fine a minute ago"
both of their faces are fully blue
L: "Maybe we should get going..." Quetz looks over at Arceus, finally noticing their blue face. "O-oh jeez, you're nearly out of breath!" He shudders and loses a burst of bubbles. "A-and so am I!"
S: "Oh no... that's not good..." arceus shudders a bit himself, whining as he needs to breathe badly
"We gotta surface, NOW!"
arceus swims up towards the distant surface above
L: Quetz starts quickly swimming up too, trailing bubbles below him as they leak out from how badly he needs to breathe. The dolphins come along, trying to help push the two upward.
S: it took a little while, but eventually they all surface and gasp for air heavily
"Hah...hah...hah...alright, that's enough being a mortal for one day...I wanna get back to being a god...and I think I've had enough water too..."
L: "Y-yeah, think I'm good on having myself need air for now... It was nice to get to introduce you to all this!"
S: "Yeah, thanks for a nice day Quetz, I really enjoyed myself" arceus then gives quetz a big hug
L: Quetz hugs Arceus back, being careful not to poke himself on the pointy parts of Arceus' ring. "No problem! Thanks for making today interesting after all!"
S: "Heh heh!" arceus smiles warmly at Quetz
"You do give good hugs!"
L: "Well, like I said, had a lot of practice..."
As the two are talking, they suddenly hear a gasp nearby as someone surfaces... What looks like an anthro toucan with a light blue wand has just come up from a dive!
S: arceus notices the anthro toucan and gasps a bit
"A mortal!"
L: Quetz freezes up for a moment, hoping the toucan won't happen to look in his direction.. But, of course, they do, and they stop and stare for a moment.
Toucan: "...A-Arceus? A-and, um... Quetzalcoatl?"
Quetz sighs. "I guess you know who we are... That's nice, at least..."
S: "I suppose so... your lucky I'm in a good mood right now, just run along, pretend you saw none of this!"
L: Toucan: "H-hang on, you can't just expect me to ignore that I met a couple GODS! At least answer a few questions for me first!"
Quetz: "...I mean, I'm willing to hear you out, just not really sure Arceus is."
S: arceus sighs a bit, then thinks for a moment, he was in a good mood thanks to the dolphins, so he decided to see what the toucan wanted
"Alright alright...I suppose a few questions wouldn't hurt, but don't speak of this to anyone! Got it??"
L: Toucan: "Okay, nice! So, first of all, what brings the two of you out here?"
Quetz: "We were just playing around in the water for a while, and did a little exploring here before we ended up getting a bit tired of it."
S: "Yep, even Gods like us like the water every now and again"
L: Toucan: "Even a wind god, apparently... Neat. Do you have to hold your breath underwater, or do you just not need air?"
Quetz: "We usually don't need air, but I sometimes make myself have to hold my breath underwater, it's a neat change of pace."
S: "Heh, yeah...it's rather interesting... that's what we were doing just now, please don't tell anyone else this! It's a secret!"
L: Toucan: "No worries, I'll keep that between us. Who would've thought that gods would sometimes sort of weaken themselves like that... Have either of you guys ever done a breath holding contest?"
Quetz: "Just with regular animals, myself. It would be kind of nice to do one with a person sometime instead..."
S: "Maybe you could do one with me sometime, see how far we can push ourselfs"
L: Quetz: "Yeah, we can totally do that!"
Toucan: "I bet you two will have fun with that! Um... Man, I've still got so many questions it's hard to think of what ones to ask..."
S: "I think that's enough questions for now, even Gods get tired sometimes and I need a nap"
L: Quetz: "Yeah, I need to rest for a bit too."
Toucan: "Ah, alright... It was really cool to meet you guys!"
S: "Nice meeting you too I suppose, now ill see you both later"
arecus teleports away somewhere to take a nice long nap
L: Quetz: "If you ever want to hang out again, send me a prayer. I'll know it's you, and it's not like I have much to do."
Toucan: "Alright, will do!"
Quetz teleports off back home, and the toucan begins heading back to shore, the latter still in a bit of disbelief over what just happened.
