Ok everyone, so here is a spur of the moment drawing that I decided to make last week. The biggest reason, being that this actually marks my 10 YEAR anniversary of my interest in this cartoon series! Hard to believe. It seems like yesterday I got interested into this fandom. And it's crazy how it helped me become a "somebody" & start my artistic journey. So here's a little story. Of how I got interested into this cartoon, and how it changed my life as a cartoon & artwork enthusiast.

So it was March 6th, 2013. I was 14, and we were under a mild snow & ice storm. And I was supposed to go to school, as school actually wasn't cancelled. But, my dad couldn't get his vehicle out of the driveway. Due to how icy the driveway was. So, I had the day off from school. And it was a perfect excuse to have a day off from school lol. So I put some music on, relaxed, and just surfed the web & scrolled through DA at some artwork.

And then, I come across the DA user Ultra-Shounen-Kai-Z (under the name Ozzyguy if I remember right), who had a bunch of Felix The Cat related artwork on his page. And ever since I saw his artwork, it gave me the curiosity & motivation to look up Felix The Cat. And see what other artwork I could find, find out more about the character himself & other characters, see what other shows & movies he had, etc.

One of the shows I found, being a cute little series called Baby Felix & Friends. An action/adventure cartoon series created in the year 2000, by Don Oriolo (Joe Oriolo's son). Showcasing a young Felix (named Baby Felix in the series) as a young child & his childhood friends. And the crazy adventures, problem solving, and learning curves they go through. It's a cute, innocent, entertaining, and funny series if I may say so myself.

At the show's start, it was animated by the Japanese studio "Radix Ace Entertainment". Along with another studio named "Aeon Entertainment". Which, I can only assume took over animating the remaining episodes. As after the Japanese anime style, the show switched over to a different/generic animation style. In it's original release, it aired on the TV channel "NHK" in Japan. As far as other countries go, I have no knowledge as to what airwaves the show aired on. If someone wants to help chime in with some history, insight, or personal experiences, feel free to!

I at least know, the show was released via 3 DVD's in English. Volume 1 being "His Magic Bag Of Tricks", Volume 2 being "Magic Bag, Do Your Stuff", and Volume 3 being "I Want My Chocolate". And then in the recent years, the show was released via the streaming platforms "Peacock", and "The Roku Channel" as of my time writing this (3/6/2023). And it also shows NEVER before seen episodes that were never aired beforehand until now (at least, to my knowledge).

But now with some history out of the way, let's get into how it changed my life & journey as an artist and cartoon enthusiast. So after getting interested into the cartoon back in March 2013, I searched for as much info as I could find about the show, the characters, the plot & story, images, videos etc. But at the time, there was VERY little info, or videos I could find of the show. Like on YouTube for instance. Only maybe 2 or 3 videos at the time? And they were either sneak peeks, or tribute videos. But it was enough for me to get an idea about the show, the characters & their voices and personalities, and so on.

But eventually, I went to a local media & entertainment store. And ordered the first two DVD's (mentioned above). And then later on that summer, I bought the 3rd DVD. And I not only enjoyed watching them so much, but then in (I think) April or May of 2013, I completely revived my DA page. And started posting screencaps relating to Baby Felix, and even some other misc Felix The Cat related stuff.

And after I did that, that was when I started meeting other fellow FTC fans, gained some watchers & fans, and became a somebody on DA. When originally, my DA account was destined to be just abandoned, or deleted. As before I got interested in Baby Felix (or the FTC fandom), I had no intention to really be on DA anymore. My account originally, was just a dummy account. So I could comment on artwork & look at exclusive stuff that you had to be a member for lmao. I had no intent on drawing, or posting ANYTHING.

But over the coarse of 2013, I just kept posting more screencaps, gained more watchers & met new people, made new friends, etc. And then the following year (2014), thanks to encouragement from a fellow DA & FA user Vyel (who has been & still is my cyber-bro for almost 10 years now), I then started making drawings of my own. And started making Baby Felix & Friends related artwork. While coming up with my own ideas & twists. But, I still posted screencaps here & there for a while. Until I eventually gave up lol.

And the rest, is history from here on out. I since have gotten interested in COUNTLESS other cartoons & making artwork of them, made a shit ton of amazing friends over the years (which, some being a major source as to how I got interested into the shows I'm into), and so on. But I have one certain cartoon, that I can thank for my journey thus far. Baby Felix And Friends.

Without my budding interest that cartoon, I definitely wouldn't be here right now. I wouldn't have met all the people I met, I wouldn't be making artwork, I'd totally be in a total different place right now lmao. Heck, I'd probably would be more successful, granted. But I wouldn't trade what I do & how I am now, in exchange for that. In fact, why do that when I can do both? Lol.

But it's crazy how far I've come throughout my 10 year journey as an artist & cartoon enthusiast. From what started out as one cartoon, and posting screencaps. I'm now a full-time traditional artist, interested in HUNDREDS of cartoons. Now even though drawing & cartoons are a hobby (when I have time, energy & motivation), it's always something I've enjoyed doing. I don't plan to stop, and I'll simply draw when I can.

And now, here we are. The present day (at the current moment), March 6th, 2023. And this marks my 10 year anniversary in regards of my interest in this cartoon series. And to celebrate, here is a cute drawing that features Felix, and Baby Felix. And yes, this scene is from the intro scene. Past, meets present! And I figured this title & drawing was fitting. For more ways than one. Not just because the cartoon shows Baby Felix & future Felix, but this is also a celebration of my interest in this series. Over the past 10 years, leading up to the present day.

And with that, I hope you all enjoyed my story & history lesson lol. Meanwhile, what do you all think of the drawing? Pretty simple, and self explanatory. As I wanted to whip up something quick. And not have to deal with drawing in extra backgrounds or details. So, this is just a simple sketch. But overall, I am definitely pleased with how the drawing turned out in the end. The lines, the colors, everything.

Anyways, I hope you all like it. And thanks very much for viewing. And also, I can't express it enough. Thank you all so much for the support & interest in my artwork/content. Over the past 10 years. Especially to ALL of my OG watchers from way back in the day. Who wanted to see more from me, who encouraged me to draw, who helped me get interested in all of the cartoons I'm into today, etc. Seriously, thank you ALL, VERY much so!

Someone else knows this anime o.o and like it, the fans generally just make fun of it if they know of its existence. But Baby Felix really is a good anime, at least the first season. But, yeah, very nice and clean drawing. Now I'm very curious to know where you're from, you even have drawings of the French cartoon Bali >_< , pretty unpopular series when you think of english interwebs in general, at least in Finland Bali and Blinky Bill have been quite popular cartoons.

Yes I do! :3 And yeah this show doesn't have a large fanbase. And that's to be expected, as it was never really shown globally. But there are SOME fans out there. Me being one of them. But even the fan base this show has, there tends to be some weird fans. But I'll just leave it at that lol. At least I'm a genuine fan.

Yeah I agree! It is a great anime, if I may say so. But yeah after the 1st season, yeah the animation style turned mediocre. But, at least they kept the majority of all the same voice actors for the later seasons. I'll give them that lol. And thank you! I'm glad you like it :3

And yes I do hehe. I'm actually from the U.S.! And yeah, obviously these cartoons never aired here in America. So how did I find out about them? Through other users on DA actually lol. One friend got me into the FTC fandom, and also got me into the Baby Felix anime itself.

Then another user (who's on DA and also on here), got me interested in a bunch of different shows. Two of them being Bali, and Blinky Bill. And he also got me into other shows like Adventures of the Little Koala (AOTLK), The Raccoons, etc. It's kinda interesting how all of the cartoons I'm interested in, came from the influence or suggestions from others. There's only a FEW cartoons I got interested in on my own. But all of the other cartoons, is all thanks to others hehe
