Well everyone........I'M BACKKKKKK......!! It has been a LONG time.......3 years it has been, since I've made any fan-art related artwork. First off, I sincerely apologize to everyone that it has been that incredibly long. Since I've made anything relating to fan-art. But has been reasons for that. As life the last 3 years has been pretty chaotic. One thing going on after another. Never have had the chance to really get a break.

But then also, I've been having art dilemma's & artblock. As I couldn't seem to make a decision as to what I wanted to draw, fan-art wise. At first, I had plans on drawing some cartoons I've been into over the last decade. As like 10 year anniversary/tribute drawings. Celebrating my 10 years I've been into certain cartoons. And to celebrate, I had planned on making some sketches/drawings of my favorite characters, from said cartoons in question. Those who have known me for the last 10+ years since 2013, will know what cartoons I'm talking about lol.

But unfortunately due to life things going on around me, I never had the time to make said drawings, within the timely manner I had planned on making them. And now that it's been OVER 10 years since I've gotten into these certain shows, I don't really see the point in doing that now. Maybe eventually I can still make some 10 year tribute sketches of some characters in the future still, but that's not on my priority list right now lol.

So since I wasn't able to carry out my first idea, I then had other ideas in regards to fanart that I figured I could draw instead. Of some new characters, new cartoons, etc. So then, I felt stuck.......Like, what do I draw at this point......? The 10 year tribute/anniversary ideas? Or do I just do my own thing & just draw whatever I want lol.

And well, obviously I just decided to do my own thing for now lmao. Not to say I won't sketch some of my favorite cartoons/characters from my past at a later time, but at that point it will just be regular sketches. And not 10 year anniversary/tribute drawings anymore lmao. Though, I will mention when I got into them & such lol. So, it'll still be like a tribute in a way lol. But again, those will come at a later time.

So for now, let's go ahead & get into what I have in the meantime. So what do I have to show after being M.I.A for 3 years? Well, I've since gotten interested into a couple cartoons within those 3 years lol. And this cartoon is one of them. In fact, this cartoon has become one of my new FAVORITE cartoons I've gotten interested in, in a while actually.

How did I find out about it? Well, I found out about this cartoon through a user who uploaded screenshots of certain characters from the cartoon. And once I got a glimpse of certain characters from the show, it was a total hook, line & sinker moment for me lol. I was absolutely in love with this cartoon. And the characters themselves too. As the characters are adorable, the forest setting it takes place in is scenic & well detailed for it's time, and the plot also isn't bad either.

So a little bit of history, before we get into this drawing. So this cartoon "Forest Friends" (or "Les Copains de la Forêt" in French), was a cartoon shown in France, and also the UK. Don't know if it ever aired anywhere else (I've definitely never seen it aired here in the U.S. lol), but the show aired in both French, and English. Though at the current moment (2026), English episodes are INCREDIBLY hard to come by. So far, there's only one episode in English that I've found. Maybe the future there will be more English episodes available lol.

And the cartoon was released from 2006, to 2007. So it ran for about a year. And there were 52 episodes made in total. And it shows a variety of anthropomorphic animal characters. Squirrels, foxes, rabbits, mice, rats, a pig/boar, a wolf, even a deer, etc lol. Again it's a very unique cartoon, if I say so myself. And it's very obscure, not a lot of people know about it. Again I never knew this cartoon even existed, until a couple of years ago lmao.

And when I got interested into this cartoon 3 years ago (2023), I figured I would give it time to make sure I'm truly interested into this cartoon. Before I go ahead & start making artwork relating to some of the characters from the show. And well, a couple years passed. I've been still into it more than ever. So I figured it was FINALLY time to go ahead & start drawing some of my favorite characters from the series. So MANY great ones to choose from lol.

But, I decided to start out with drawing this character first. As he's the first character I ever saw from the cartoon. And he's originally how I got interested into this cartoon in the first place lol. So, this character's name is Danny :3 And he is a fox. And from what the short description says, he's "quite a prankster & a scardey cat" lol. I can also tell he likes to tease & joke around too.

But in the end, he does have a good head on his shoulders, cares about his friends & the people he loves, and he's just an innocent little boy. Who lives with his mother "Meryl", and his little baby brother "Didoo". And his father "Joe", works as an actor/magician & travels around a lot. So he's rarely ever home. But at least he does still come home & spend time with his wife & kids lol.

And now with the backstory out of the way, let's now get into the drawing itsef lol. So I forget exactly what episode this particular pose was from, but for a while now I screen capped the scene/pose & have had it saved in my computer for a while now. Knowing eventually I'd likely use it for a fan-art related drawing. As it's a perfect pose for doing so lol.

And well, the time finally came last year (2025). As I FINALLY felt motivated enough to go ahead & start making some fan-art drawings of some characters from this show lol. And so, I decided to draw Danny first. Given what I mentioned above. Plus, the next character I'm going to show next (after I'm done showing the 4 sketches I have of Danny here), I figured I'd save the next character best for last lol.

So one night back in late October 2025 (a few months ago), was when I went ahead & FINALLY got some fan-art drawings sketched out. And I went ahead & sketched this drawing out first, of course. And then after I finished sketching this drawing out, was when I then focused on making the next 3 sketches after this lol.

And once all 4 sketches were made, I then went ahead & focused on finishing this drawing first. And in total, this drawing took me about a full day & night to fully finish. As Danny's skin tone I come to find out, is complex to color in just right. So, I gave it my best shot & did it as accurately as I possibly can. And I think this is definitely as close as I can possibly get lol. And I'm happy with it overall :3

So here is the finished result! Just a cool little "In Action" sketch of Danny (from Forest Friends) lol. Again I forget what episode this pose/scene was from. But it looks like he's about to throw a pinecone lol. As it's evident that the characters in this series use pinecones as throwing balls lol. For playing catch, or even use them as baseballs for playing baseball. Kind of funny lol. But, unique at the same time.

So what do you all think? Again, overall I'm pretty happy & satisfied with this one. As I love the pose, the facial expression, the coloring, etc. I'm definitely happy with how it all turned out. Being a traditional artist, maybe sometimes drawings & ideas don't exactly turn out spot on or as expected. All you can do, is just as close as you can lol. And I think I just about nailed it, if you ask me lmao. And I'm sure everyone will like it anyways. So, that's all that matters to me in the end.
