This is the Sunday in August of 1960 that Al and Marge treated the cubs to watching the airplanes taking off at what was then the Albuquerque Municipal Airport.
Marge parked the station wagon just as a Lockheed Constellation on the far end of the runway began revving it's engines to takeoff. The cubs certainly don't want to miss standing outside of the car to watch the three tailed Constellation fly over.
Marge grabbed their 35mm Rolleiflex camera as Al grabbed their 8mm Revere movie camera.

In the front seat;
Al is getting out on the passenger's side.
Marge is at the wheel, and about to get out on the driver's side.
Donna (age 6) can be seen peeking from behind Al.

In the rear seat;
Jed (oldest son, age 11) is the one wearing red sneakers.
Rex (age 9) is stepping out behind Jed.
Clarence (age 8 and from year 2018) is still in the car about to exit behind Rex.

Al and Marge instructed the cubs to exit the car on the passenger's side so they don't open a door in the path of another car.

For those who are familiar with cars from that time era, their 1960 Plymouth station wagon has the "gear wheel" door latches that car makers used in the 1950s and early 1960s.

That they are.

And the jeans the boys are wearing are most likely Dungaree brand.

Outside the US that's what we call overalls, by the way, the label spot is on the wrong side!

I never did put the label spot on there.

The thought of it being Dungarees occurred to me after I completed the drawing.

Maybe another time.

It could always be that Clarence and Rex may have been wearing Dunaree brand bluejeans, and Jed was wearing an off brand.

Maybe, Levi's were getting popular then as well but were probably more expensive.

Was reading up and two other brands could be PF Flyers or Pro Keds. I thing they had more colors in 1960.

I remember the corny TV commercials for PF Flyers.

With Johnny Quest.

There were also the commercials where average kids were able to become heroes by running for help in the nick of time when someone else was in peril.
"They can run faster because they were wearing PF flyers".

Hey if you do another with Clarence in full view how about make his Converse sneakers white? A good way for them not too mix up and they alternate on colors when buying new ones?

In this view, Clarence is still in the car. The one getting out is Rex. Jed is wearing the red sneakers.

Just though, do  they let Donna wear them or does she have too abide by the girly standards of the time? Only image I remember offhand is at XMAS and that is a time too fancy up.

The only time Donna has to adhere to the girly standards is when the family attends special occasions in public. Even for the boys it would be: dress up clothes with a tie and shoes.
This was on a Sunday after church, which back in those days everyone adhered to dress up standards for church.
However, being that the family planned to go watch the planes after church let out, Al and Marge allowed the cubs to wear their play clothes to church that day...as long as they were clean and didn't have any stains or holes.
Even Al untucked his shirt and removed his tie before arriving near the airport. Al like most of the males at church wore short sleeves without a jacket being it was summer.
...Al and Marge were dressed to the standards for church that day.

Fair enough. I don't think she is a tomboy but didn't get the impression of being for lack of a better term "daddies little princess" either.
I really gotta get back into this story!
