I saw one of those in a catalog once. It looked kind of like a hot pan holder. It was kind of funny.

That did get around as a novelty back in the early 1980s...and probably at times before that.

I never heard of these before, but I have seen similar funny novelty items for sale at gas stations across roads of America.
Once in the bathroom, they had a dispenser that said "failproof contraceptive for women" and when you put a quarter you got a small cardboard disk with printed instructions "hold between knees"
