'Papa Beaver's Storytime' (PBST) is a hard-to-find animated series that ran (in the States) on NickJr, way back in the ye olde 1990's.
The series focused on retelling classic fairy and folk tales through the mouth of Papa Beaver, to the ears of his unnamed grandchilderen. The stories usually served to impart lessons to the grandchildren (and could get pretty dark at times), but some tales were told just for fun. :3
The original French version of PBST is titled 'Les Histoires du Père Castor', and is just as obscure and not easy to come by. The English dub knew a VHS release, though (for whatever reason) the beaver sequences were trimmed down, to focus on the stories (I have no idea why this would be, but there ya go). :P
VERY recognizable voice actors---these performers were everywhere (though no voice actor was as ubiquitous in the 80's/90's as Rob Paulson ...but I digress) ^^
Although she looks simple, Grandaughter Beaver was NOT easy to draw. This frustration happens every once in a while---though I've drawn a couple hundred different characters by now (I need to get a life), some subjects (for whatever reason) vex me. :P Apropos to Granddaughter Beaver, the reason seems to be the way she (and the other beavers) were drawn. Save for their heads, the characters seem to have been freehanded by their animators, so reverse engineering them isn't possible (without explicitly changing their shapes). That said, I'm sure one of my watchers will now attempt to 'shame' me by drawing the character perfectly on-model, complete with a rotation and guideline tutorial ...and to that I would say, 'Thank you' (these characters need all the exposure they can get, as the series is missed by many). :3
HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "Reverse-psychology detected! Are you hoping to use your microinfluence on the furry community to get PBST a BluRay release, Marten?"
I don't care THAT much about PBST, so ...No (not really). ^^
Anyway...
To raise the difficulty, I drew Granddaughter Beaver via this Jolly 'Kinderfest' 2HB pencil. The line is dusty and doesn't erase well. This is also a 'cheap-feeling' pencil, despite its somewhat hefty weight---my hand literally took the lettering off its sides, which is why they didn't scan well! ^^ To prove, this is what the pencil looked like before I used it: https://inkbunny.net/s/2158007
