DIY 3D Printer Done and Working!
"By Your Command" - Vertex v1.0
+4
Fanfiction Character: Cola Maus?
A 3D Printer? Toy RepRap PLA 3D Printer to be exact and 85% done. Was 95% done, with just a couple pieces needed to be added, printer adjusted and do a first 3D Print. But then I blew out 2 motors and need to replace them. HA HA!!! Also need some code adjustments because some things do not line up right.

It seems to heat up quickly, so printing should be simple when I get there. And things move as they should before I blew out the motors - that is a plus.

Costs: $200, but this was all experimental. Now I know where to get the parts cheaper, the next one will be under $100.

And HIPS (High Impact PolyStrene) is too soft for such an application, I will need to redo the connecting joints in ABS. And I need to replace 2 motors on top of everything.

Mostly done on my Tronxy P802 Printer on Black HIPS, the LM88 Bearings done on my Tronxy X1 in white PLA. it is about 1/2 the size as my P802 and same size as my X1. Print Build 150mm X 120mm X 180mm.

A 3D Printer printing a 3D Printer! It's been a Work In Progress. And highly modified from the original.

Mind you , the 28BYJ-48 is a low voltage "Toy" 5 volt stepper motor. and it sensitive to programming issues and over heat easily. By programming issues- If you drive it too fast or too hard, or continue to drive when it reaches a stop but the stop switch has not been activated, it will burn out a coil.

This happened with the X-Axis first, when it went to the left and continued to go to the left though the carriage was stuck at the extreme left side. So now it only goes left and not left and right, with the right side coil burning out. Which is odd if you think about it - the left coil was being driven hard but the right coil burnt out. Very odd.

The second time a similar thing happened on the Y Axis and carriage; the carriage went forward and got stuck, burning out the Y Axis stepper.

These steppers are like $2 on ebay, really cheap. But there are modified parts one can 3D Print to this printer for larger heftier steppers (like the famous Nema-17). But Nema-17s go for $20 and up, going as high as $45 in some places. I'll get a few more of the cheap motors before moving up to the larger Nema-17 stepper.

At the some time I'm that kind of fool to rip apart a dead stepper and see if I can revive too. :D

The experiment continues!
