If you seen Netflix's Anime: Scissor Seven, then you know of the character Cola - a 15 year old girl with a sad history but who has decided to take on life by the horns and make it bend to what she wants despite the short amount of time she has. In many ways she reminds me of my wife (RIP) Cathy, former girlfriend Susie (former because life separated us because she moved to another state and we lost contact with each other, not that we broke up), daughter Rachel and cousin/sister Maria as they are similar in dealing with life on their own terms despite the many bad things that happened in their lives. There is also some of me in there as long ago at a young age I decided to not take shit from anyone though I may let situations and events come to a conclusion before striking hard and making people pay for the wrongs done to me. Yes - that includes that I have had police officers' positions demoted and even fired and arrested, but those are stories for another time.
Back in the 80s when people were getting groups and social identities (not those of sexual orientations or gender choices) together, one of them was the Furry world that we know of today. I dared asked Susie the question, if you can group the Oriental Hun race (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, et al.) as a member of the Furry world, what would they be? As discussed, it would not be a Panda because it would be cliche and Pandas are not everywhere in Asia, only in the bamboo forests of China and elsewhere there are bamboo forests. She said that "we would be a mouse because there are many of us, we are everywhere, and we do not have negative global reputation of the rat," but then she added, "...we would be a white mouse, like a Lab Mouse, because having white skin is something we want as a culture." So due to this talk we had long ago, I refer to some Asian Characters as White Mice. There are other Asian furry types out there like the Panda, Red Panda, Tiger, etc. furry groups - each with their mythos and connections to the cultures they reside in.
In that, I decided to view some anime while I contemplate on how to deal with some toxic people in my life. One of them was "Scissor Seven", by Netflix and a Chinese animation company, making it a rare Chinese Anime compared to a Japanese Anime. For the reasons stated above, I chose the character Cola.
If you think that I may have copied the image from elsewhere, I will admit I did copied from a Google Image search. But it is not as simple as copying and pasting on ears and a tail. The image I worked on I had to do a lot to make adjustments, age her up to an American 15 year old, fix pixilation and scaling issues the image had. I'll give it credit to the unknown artist for the original artwork, but the artist is unknown to me. I wanted to do something quick and dirty to post up, it took three days going over the image again and again and making adjustments and additions where needed, it would have been easier to have done something made from scratch, but no. Once I start, I continue until I finish. I would have done better, but Eff-it. I have too much on my mind to concentrate on doing art instead of dealing with toxic people that I am doing.
