SUNDAY, JUNE 26th, 1960
There was a larger than usual gathering at the church in Santa Rosa that Sunday due to the relatives and close friends of Jerald Jenkins Coyote and Cindy Jones Coyote being present... This is the day that Cindy and Jerald are getting married. Before the Sunday morning services began, everyone congratulated Cindy and Frank, and wished the best for them.
"Congratulations", Cindy's dad, Fred, greeted Cindy and Jerald. "Charlot and I wish your married life to be happy and blessed.
"Oh, thank you Fred", Frank replied to his about to be father in law.
"Thank you, Dad", Cindy replied.
"Our little cub is finally getting married", said Charlot.
"Mom. I'm 18. I'm not a cub anymore", Cindy said to Charlot.
"They're not cubs forever, you know", Jerald's dad, Frank, said as those standing around chuckled.
"We might be aunts before long", Dotty said to younger sister Cheryl.
"But I'm still only 8 years old. That would me my the littlest aunt you ever saw", Cheryl said as everyone laughed.
"Could be", Dotty's fiancee, Buddy, added.
"By the way, my cousin Osmond has something to tell you", Wanda said to her son Jerald, and her about to be daughter in law Cindy.
Osmond Coyote said to Cindy and Jerald, "You know that seven acres south of Duran we'd help you with buying. It's that parcel of land that otter couple has listed with us in Roswell.
"Yes", Jerald replied.
"Well, everyone chipped in on buying that seven acres to give to you two as a wedding gift", Osmond said as everyone around acknowledged.
"Your Uncle Hank is bringing that old camper trailer to the property today after the wedding", Frank said to Jerald.
Hank's wife, Jenny, assured Jerald and Cindy, "That trailer isn't much, but it still makes a nice little home".
"It's already hitched to my truck", Hank Coyote told his brother, Frank. "Someone just has to drive ahead so I know where to bring it".
As Jerald and Cindy began thanking everyone, Osmond Coyote said to Jerald and Cindy, "Come on down to our office in Roswell tomorrow, and we can get the papers signed so we can get a deed in your names from the Estancia courthouse".
"I just started a new job", said Jerald. "It will have to be on a Saturday".
"I can have Cindy bring you the papers to sign, as long as you can have a few others not related to you to sign as witnesses to your signature", Osmond Coyote said to Jerald.
"I can do that", Jerald replied.
"If you can do that early enough, you and Cindy can still come to Jed's birthday party", Marge said.
"Marge and I can sign off as witnesses to your signature at the party", Al suggested.
"I'll be eleven tomorrow!", Jed proclaimed.
"Happy birthday tomorrow, young fella", Pastor Warren Brown Bear said to Jed as he came walking over.
"What do you say to Pastor Bear?", Al said to his son, Jed.
"Thank you, Preacher Bear", Jed said.
"My pleasure", Pastor Bear replied.
Pastor bear then mentioned, "I take it that everything is ready for the wedding after the services this morning".
"It's all ready to go", Guss Bear affirmed, being one of Jerald Coyote's fellow high school graduates and chosen as the 'best male' for the wedding.
"We're having the cake brought in now where the summer heat won't spoil it", said Cindy's cousin, Judy Coyote, who was chosen as the 'maid of honor'.
As two females, a mink and a kinkajou, were carrying the cake into the church, Pastor Bear commented, "That's a beautiful cake", then instructed someone to get a portable table from the utility room to set the cake down on.
The reason for bringing the wedding cake into the church right away was so it wouldn't get hot and ruined being left out in a car. This was late June and it was expected to get into the low 90s that day. However, the cake was not to be cut until after the morning services...After all, the wedding was not until after the morning services anyway, thus everyone took a seat as the services were about to begin.
There were the usual morning announcements which were followed with the singing of two hymns;

That morning, after the anouncments were made and the hymns sung, Pastor Warren Brown Bear preached a sermon titled, "There are No Adding Machines in Heaven".
During the sermon, Pastor Bear explained, "When offerings are given, or when a brethren renders help to those in need, God sees what comes from the heart, and not the amount.
Scripture clearly states, to whom much is given much is expected, and likewise to whom little is given little is expected.
Dearly beloved, I am here to tell you God is not in the arithmetic business. Oh sure, we who are fleshly creatures are tempted to judge one's benevolence based only on how much is given mathematically. But spiritual eyes do not see benevolence as being a mathematical score board how we are tempted to evaluate the charity of others. In the sight of spiritual eyes, one's benevolence is appraised based on willingness, and not solely on ability...How far is one willing to go to help another?...How earnest is one's willingness to bestow assistance to those in need...Dearly beloved, those are virtues no adding machine and no cash register can tally up. No score board can display such virtues. No accountant's archive can catalog such virtues".
That being said got, “Amen”, from many of those present in the congregation.
“The best example is found recorded in scripture 2,000 years ago”, Pastor Brown Bear said as he held a King James Bible up high before placing it back down on the podium, then went on to say, “During a worship service at a temple 2,000 years ago, a widow only had two pence to her name to give into the collection...That would be like two pennies in today’s economy. In by contrast, those who had fared more prosperously had given amounts that would be like hundreds today. Those who gave large sums of money were feeling mighty haughty and proud of their selves, and looked down with disdain upon the poor widow...What they failed to realize was, from a spiritual viewpoint, that widow gave more with all the two pence she had than all the money those wealthy noble citizens had given put together. The very son of God was present there that day and said so himself...You see, dearly beloved, that widow gave all she had. Any of those wealthy noble citizens may have given the equivalent to ten thousand dollars. But if one of those wealthy citizens possessed fifty thousand dollars to begin with, that citizen did not give all that he or she had with the ten thousand that was given...And that is what God sees...National Cash Register Company won’t be selling any adding machines in Heaven, dearly beloved. In Heaven, it is the heart that is seen, and not what is tallied up on adding machines and score boards”.
After the sermon, a hymn, 'Holy Holy Holy', was sung during a period of invitation to alter call that was given during the benediction.

After which, the collection the plates were passed around for the offering to be taken up...Then, it was time for the wedding service to begin.
Pastor Bear then made the announcement, "We are now going to commence with the wedding Jerald Coyote and Cindy Coyote. This truly is a joyous momentous occasion in the lives of these two young coyotes being married today. And if I may say, in addition to those family members and close friends who have received invitations, I as pastor presiding over this wedding hereby extend that invitation to all who are members of this congregation to stay and attend...For those who wish to leave at this time, regular Sunday morning service is dismissed".
Only very few among the congregation chose not to stay as everyone else prepared to begin the wedding ceremony.
Frank and Wanda's 8 year old cub, Cheryl, was given a basket of small flowers. Cheryl Coyote was chosen as the flower girl at the wedding...And Clarence Coyote had the honor of being chosen for a special position. He had been chosen to be the ring bearer, which Al, Marge and the siblings were proud of.
Many of the friends and family members chipped in to have a professional photographer, Linden Kangaroo, take pictures of the wedding ceremony. Linden was same Kangaroo who took the 1960 yearbook pictures a month ago for Estancia school. In fact, Linden Kangaroo recognized Jerald Coyote, Guss Bear, Guss' sister Karen Bear, Johnny Fox, Earl Mink, Ryan Lynx, Ryan's sister Janice Lynx, Buddy Coyote, Buddy's fiancee Dotty, Cheryl, Clarence, Jed, Rex, Donna and a few other teens and cubs he had taken those pictures of at the school.
As per protocol, family members and close friends of Cindy's family were ushered to be seated on the left side of the church auditorium, while family members and close friends of Jerald's family were ushered to the right...Guss Bear being best male, and Judy Coyote being maid of honor, were entrusted with being in charge of the ushering procedure. Congregation members who were not affiliated with either family, as well as close friends of both families had the option of which side of the auditorium to sit on.
Jerald, as well as Cindy, had previously requested "Just Married" white painted on the rear window of Jerald's '52 Pontiac, along with a flower bouquet on the radio antenna, and tin cans strung from the rear bumper, which was common with marriages back in the day...Guss Bear had appointed a Johnny Fox and a Earl Mink (Earl being school bus driver Stimpson Mink's nephew), both whom Guss had graduated high school with, to carry out that request.
With everyone ready to begin, Guss Bear then accompanied Jerald Coyote down the right side of the aisle to the alter, where Jerald's parents, Frank and Wanda stood to the side...Guss then stood aside with Frank and Wanda.
Then the following the cue was given by the maid of honor, Judy Coyote...That cue was for Cindy's dad, Fred, to place his left paw on his waist with his elbow extended out. Cindy then took hold of her dad's elbow with her right paw as she was escorted down the left side of the aisle, also accompanied by Judy Coyote, as the church organist played 'Here Come the Bride'.

Little 8 year old Cheryl marched ahead, tossing the small flowers she was given on the aisle ahead of Cindy, Fred and Judy...Clarence followed behind, holding a small, purple, velvet cushion out before him, on which Cindy and Jerald's wedding rings sat upon.
Upon arriving to the alter beside Jerald, the organist finished the song as Fred and Judy stepped away and took a place beside Charlot. And Cheryl took her place on the other side beside Frank and Wanda...Clarence remained two paces behind Jerald and Cindy, holding the cushion with the rings as he had been previously instructed to do.
There at the alter before Jerald and Cindy, stood Pastor Warren Brown Bear, who began with, "Dearly beloved. We are gathered here today to unite these two, Jerald Jenkins Coyote and Cindy Jones Coyote in Holy matrimony. This, like as in every marriage, is a solemn occasion in by which a husband and wife are committed in love and loyalty for life. Marriage is a Holy institution set forth by God All Mighty to be earnestly respected, dare no one violate and tread upon it. Marriage is the first step in the establishment of a new family from which a following generation shall blossom forth".
Then Pastor Bear said to those among the congregation, what is commonly said by a pastor at a wedding, "If anyone here be among this gathering who has reason why these two should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace".
No one spoke up.
Pastor Bear then asked, "Do you, Jerald Jenkins Coyote, take Cindy Jones Coyote to be your lawfully wedded wife, in times good or bad, rich or poor, in sickness or in health, to cherish and honor for life till death do you part?".
"I do", Jerald answered.
Pastor Bear then asked, "Do you, Cindy Jones Coyote, take Jerald Jenkins Coyote to be your lawfully wedded husband, in times good or bad, rich or poor, in sickness or in health, to cherish and honor for life till death do you part?".
"I do", Cindy answered.
Pastor Bear then proclaimed, "By the authority ordained unto me from All Mighty God, and by the powers vested in me by our great state of New Mexico, I hereby pronounce you, Jerald Jenkins Coyote, and you, Cindy Jones Coyote, husband and wife...You may kiss the bride".
After Jerald and Cindy kissed, and as those gathered were still expressing emotions of joy and happiness, Clarence took two paces forward and presented the cushion with the wedding rings, in which Jerald accepted them from Clarence. After Clarence stepped back away two paces, Jerald then placed one ring on Cindy's left ring finger (who was now Cindy Jenkins Coyote). Then Jerald placed the other ring on his own left ring finger...Then Jerald and Cindy hugged and kissed.
Then as the organist played 'The Wedding Exit', everyone tossed dried rice on Jerald and Cindy for good luck as they made their way back up the aisle, holding paws.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUfD2ANmO1o
Jerald and Cindy were now on opposite sides of the aisle...That's suppose to symbolically represent the groom's family's acceptance of the bride, and the bride's family's acceptance of the groom. Following behind were best male Guss Bear and maid of honor Judy Coyote, then followed by flower girl Cheryl Coyote and ring bearer Clarence Coyote, then followed by Cindy and Jerald's parents. Then the rest of those gathered filed out to the aisle and followed.
Once the procession got as far as the front entrance foyer of the church building, everyone wasn't ready to get into their cars and drive away just yet. The wedding cake was being moved to the reception hall of the church where there would be cake, ice cream, treats and fruit punch. And no one wanted to miss out on that...Walking back up the aisle was really only a follow-through of the conclusion the marriage ceremony.
Everyone congratulated Cindy and Jerald upon entering the reception hall as the festivities began. After pictures were taken of the cake, the first piece cut was a piece big enough for two which Cindy and Jerald shared. Then everyone partook in cake, fruit punch and other goodies...Cindy and Jerald even offered the photographer, Linden Kangaroo, some cake, ice cream and fruit punch, which he graciously accepted.
About an hour into the festivities, Jerald and Cindy were ready to go out to that seven acres south of Duran everyone got for them. Daddy Frank and Uncle Hank were going to soon be getting that camper trailer to bring onto the property.
As Jerald and Cindy were beginning to leave with family members and friends, those who chose linger behind at the festivities wished Cindy and Jerald "Good Luck".
"May the Good Lord bless you two with many happy years to come", Pastor Warren Brown Bear said to Jerald and Cindy just before they left.
After thanking Pastor Bear, Jerald and Cindy got into that old Pontiac, and drove off with the white paint words on the back window "Just Married", the flower bouquet on the radio antenna, and and the tin cans trailing from the rear bumper making a clattering racket against the road. Jeralds family followed in their '55 Chevy wagon. Cindy's family, along with cousin Judy, followed in one of Daddy Fred's 'fixer upper' cars he occasionally buys and sells, a 1953 Packard. Guss Bear, who didn't yet have a car, rode with his fiancee, Marsha Bear, in Daddy Milo and Mama Lisa's '57 Ford station wagon. Frank's brother Hank, and his wife Jenny, with their cubs Mark (age 14) and Linda (age 11) followed in their 1950 Ford. Al, Marge and the cubs followed in their Chrysler 300. And many others also followed in their cars behind Jerald and Cindy.
And as was customary, everyone would blow their horns as the wedding procession traveled along. Everyone they passed by on their way out of Santa Rosa, other motorists and pedestrians alike, cheerfully waved. They knew it was a wedding that had just taken place from the tin cans being dragged behind the lead car, and all the cars in the procession blowing their horns. Others also waved as they passed through Pastura and Vaughn...As they proceeded along, the procession got smaller as others turned off on their separate ways to go home.
Finally, they arrived in Duran, with tin cans clattering and horns blowing. At the house, Al and Marge invited Jerald and Cindy, along with Wanda, Cheryl, Dotty and Dotty's fiancee Buddy in for some coffee while Fred and his brother Hank go to get that trailer (Jed, Clarence, Rex, Donna and Cheryl ranging in ages from 6 to going on 11, preferred Kool Aid over the coffee). Cindy's parents, Fred and Charlot, with Cindy's brother Scotty, stayed with the procession in that '53 Packard all the way to Duran...They too were invited in for coffee (Scotty being age 12, did try the coffee but stuck with the Kool Aid).
Meanwhile, . Hank and Jenny, with their cubs Mark and Linda, were on their way in that 1950 Ford to the house trailer just outside of Cedarvale. Hank's brother Frank followed in his '55 Chevy wagon in case any assistance was needed, and to show Hank where to take the trailer that was given to Jerald and Cindy.
They soon arrived to Hank and Jenny Coyote's home, which was 45 acres, with a large house trailer they and their cubs live in...And there were almost a dozen other house trailers and camper trailers on the property (most in fairly good shape used for storage, although two of the the camper trailers were falling apart. There was a small junk yard of other cars on the property that had seen their better days, which consisted of; a 1948 Ford that still ran, a 1951 Chevy that barely ran and would smoke like a mosquito fogger, a badly rusted 1937 Ford that had a rod knock in the motor, a 1952 Dodge that Hank had been trying to get running again, and a couple of dozen other cars that are either wrecked, worn out, or rusted out...most of which Hank sells parts from, or sells them once they're stripped of parts for profit as scrap. There was also a 1939 Ford school bus with the wheels gone that was being used as a junk shed. And their were several old car motors and transmissions laying around, as well as a treasure of old tires and rims laying around. There was also a wrecked 1950 Ford that Hank had bought as a parts car to keep the 1950 Ford he and his wife drives running.
Not to mention there were various other junk items on the property, including stuff that Jenny had on the property which were stacks of tree and bush pots, bags of potting soil, and a small burn pile of dead plants and dead small trees that didn't make it...It was enough stuff that if you guessed it was a commercial plant nursery operation, you'd probably be right...Jenny made a side income selling trees and bushes at farmer's markets in addition to the income from her husband's junkyard business.
Their son, Mark, had a shitload of old bicycle frames and bicycle parts, as well as old dirt bike parts laying around...Linda had some junk collected as well. Three of the trees on the property had tree houses built in them. And of course there were the beer cans laying around...That coyote family were a typical family of junk collecting, junk tinkering, and junk dealing red necks.
"Well, there she is, Frank", Hank said to his brother as he showed him the 26 foot camper trailer, which was hitched to a decommissioned, WW2, Army utility pick up truck.
The trailer wasn't as shabby as Frank had imagined it...In fact, it was in fairly decent condition.
"I think Jerald and Cindy would adore the daylights out of it", Jenny said.
"Well, I thank you. We all do", Frank said, then asked his brother, "Hank, how did you manage to get a truck like that old Army pick up truck?".
"I got it at that government surplus auction at the Roswell Air Force Base three months ago", Hank said. "It's an old Air Force utility truck. And in four wheel drive, it will tow just about anything, or pull the guts out of anything".
"It looks it", Frank replied as he noticed the truck's rugged, utilitarian appearance.
As 14 year old Mark began hot dogging it around the property on one of his dirt bikes he had once put together from old parts, 11 year old Linda was setting up a play tent with some old pieces of 2x4 lumber and an old cargo tarp.
"Well, we're ready to go?", Hank asked. "Jenny and the cubs will take the Ford and catch up with us later".
"Have Jenny phone Al and Marge to have everyone meet us out there", Frank said. "I'm ready anytime".
"You hear that, Jenny?", Hank called to his wife. "Give Al and Marge a call for everyone to meet us at Jerald and Cindy's new place".
"I got it", Jenny Coyote replied as she headed to the house trailer to call Al and Marge.
However, there was a brief interruption.
"MOM! DAD!", Mark called out. "Linda's tryin' to knock my dirt bike over!".
"That's cuz Mark's tryin' to ride his dirt bike inside my tent", Linda retorted.
"You two get along!", Mama Jenny told Mark and Linda, then told Mark, "You got 45 acres to ride that bike on. You don't have to ride it into your sister's tent".
"If you two can't get along, I bounce a couple of beer cans off your heads", Hank told the cubs. "Sheesh!".
"I'll go in and make that call", Jenny said as she began making her way to the trailer for a 2nd time. "Me and the cubs will meet you out there".
"Well, I guess we're ready then", Hank said to Frank.
"I'll lead the way, Hank. Just follow me", Frank replied as he made his way with his walking cane to his car.
After Hank started up that old decommissioned military truck, Frank started up his '55 Chevy wagon. Then Frank headed down the long dirt driveway with Hank following in the utility truck pulling the 26 foot camper trailer. And then they pulled out onto the dirt and gravel road that runs past Hank and Jenny's place.
Frank and Hank took the dirt and gravel road that went north a very short way, then went straight east for a while to where it finally crosses the Southern Pacific Railroad shortly before it intersects with Highway 54 south of Duran. From there, it was a few miles south on Highway 54 before getting to the property.
After Al and Marge got the call from Jenny, they and the cubs were on their way, along with Jerald and Cindy, Fred and Charlet with their son Scotty, Wanda with daughters Dotty and Cheryl, and Dotty's fiancee Buddy.
Not long after Jenny made the call, she and the two cubs got in their '50 Ford and headed out to meet up with the others.
As Frank and Hank approached on Highway 54 to the property, they noticed the others from Duran were already there...After all, Duran was much closer than Cedarvale, and most of the way from Cedarvale was by dirt and gravel road.
"Oh, that is a nice trailer home your uncle is giving us", Cindy said to her husband Jerald as her father-in-law Frank parked the '55 Chevy wagon to the side of Highway 54 behind the other cars, and as Hank pulled left off of the Highway onto the property with truck and camper trailer.
"I know Cindy and Jerald will like that", Marge said to Al.
"Not a bad little house trailer", Al replied.
"Can we visit them tonight?", Rex asked as the others chuckled.
"Jerald and Cindy are going to want some private time together tonight", Marge said to her son Rex.
"It's their first night married, Rex", Dotty added as Rex finally got the gist.
"Yeah. Duhhh", Cindy's 12 year old brother Scotty teased Rex.
"Okay. Mind your manners, Scotty", Cindy's dad Fred got onto his son.
"Hank called from the truck to his nephew Jerald, "Where ever you and Cindy want the trailer, I can get it there".
As Cindy and Jerald approached the truck, Cindy mentioned, "We haven't really gave it much thought yet".
"Can we have a few minutes to decide, Uncle Hank?", Jerald asked.
"No problem, Jerald. I've got time", "Hank replied.
"So this is the house trailer", Wanda said as Frank came walking up with his walking cane.
"It's nicer than I had pictured", Frank said to Wanda.
"It is nice", Wanda replied.
As everyone began offering suggestions as to the best place to set the trailer, Jenny arrived in the '50 Ford with the cubs Mark and Linda.
"Oh boy", Mark exclaimed as he and Linda got out of the car and darted across Highway 54 to the property.
"YOU CUBS DIDN'T WATCH BEFORE CROSSING! WHAT IF A CAR WAS COMING?!", Mama Jenny scorned at the cubs.
"We're sorry", Linda said.
"You two will be when your father and us get home", Jenny assured Mark and Linda. "You two were lucky you weren't hit by a car".
As everyone began coming to a final agreement for the location of the trailer, Jenny approached the truck with the cubs.
Hank, still sitting in the truck, asked Jenny, "What was all that about back there?".
"Mark and Linda ran across the road without watching for cars", Jenny reported to Hank.
"You cubs wait until we get home", Hank said to Mark and Linda.
And from the way Daddy Hank said that, the cubs knew that didn't mean having a few beer cans bounced off their heads...That meant they had a righteous paddling coming their way.
"We finally decided on a spot for the trailer, Uncle Hank", Jerald said as he came walking over. "Right up there where Dad is".
Frank got Hank's attention from 300 feet away, and called out, "Swing around out back that way, and bring it up to where I'm standing".
"We'll do", Hank said as he cranked up that old military utility truck.
Parents made sure their young cubs were out of harm's way of the truck and camper trailer before Hank put it in gear and proceeded around to where the trailer will be set. And like Hank had earlier told Frank about the truck towing just about anything, that old utility truck pulled that 26 foot trailer around into position without the truck's wheels making the first slip.
"How's that?", Hank asked as he stopped where he was instructed to set the trailer.
"Exactly where we want it", Fred mentioned as Frank affirmed.
After Hank shut down the truck, he began unhitching the trailer as others got the Jacks, blocks and boards from the bed of Hank's truck in which to chock the trailer up on blocks and set it level. Of course, during the procedure of chocking the trailer, the young cubs would frequently ask things like, "What's that for?", or, "What does that do?", or, "Why are you doing that?", or, "What does leveling mean?".
The adults finally designated an area for the cubs to play, and the cubs were told to stay out of the way of those working on the trailer.
Hank and Jenny's cubs noticed the Southern Pacific railroad tracks on the other side of Highway 54.
"Can we go watch for a train?", Mark asked Mama Jenny.
"Yea, Mom. Can we?", Linda added.
"No. I should say not", Jenny answered. "If you can't watch out for cars crossing the road, what makes you think I'd feel safe letting you around those tracks?".
After about an hour, the trailer was chocked firmly on blocks, and sitting level...And that included a metal framed set of steps Hank fished out of one his junk piles to place at the door of the trailer.
"Well...All it needs now is a well, out house and electrical hook up", said Frank.
"The sewer water tanks work", said Hank, "I filled the water tank last night, and I do know the sewer tank is empty".
"Jerald and Cindy will have water and sewer for now", Fred acknowledged.
"Just no electricity until we can get with the power company", said Hank.
"And no phone", Jenny added, being this was a day and time long before you could simply go to a store and get a cell phone.
"It shouldn't take long to get that all going", Fred affirmed.
Frank mentioned to Jerald, "Now that you're working for the Highway Department, Son, I can help you payments arrangements set up to have a well and septic system put in.
"I should be able to keep up payments on that", Jerald assured his dad.
"We have a gas cook stove and a couple of lanterns you can borrow", Al offered Jerald and Cindy.
"Gee thanks, Al", Jerald replied. "That would be a big help to us right now".
"Thank you very much", Cindy added.
As Jerald and Cindy entered the camper trailer to check it out, they invited everyone else to come in for a look around.
It did have some rather ramshackle furniture, and a mixed array of cups, dishes and silverware...Other than that, it was pretty inside.
"I admit the furniture is a bit ratty. But it it was the best I could come up with", said Hank.
"Aw, it's better than not having any furniture in the house", Fred acknowledged.
After about 45 minutes of socializing, it was going on 4:30 pm, thus everyone wished Jerald and Cindy good luck, then began heading home.
"We can pick up that gas stove and lanterns at your place this evening", Jerald said to Al and Marge. "We're going to Duran anyway to get some groceries at the W. M. Hindi Store".
"Okay", said Al. "We'll have them".
After everyone left, Jerald and Cindy got into that old '52 Pontiac and headed to Duran. There, they got their groceries and snacks from the store (avoiding perishables due to not having electricity and refrigeration), and picked up that gas stove and lanterns from Al and Marge, along with some spare #1 grade kerosene for the lanterns, and an extra 25 lb. LP gas tank for the stove.
"We certainly appreciate this", Jerald said to Al and Marge.
"My pleasure. Just glad to help", Al replied.
It was already getting dark enough to turn on car headlights, and that amber colour, wolf Indian face emblem on the hood of Jerald's 1952 Pontiac still lit up with the headlights.
"Wow!", Clarence exclaimed. "I never knew that wolf Indian lights up".
"Those are cool", Jed added.
"All the old Pontics had them", Jerald affirmed to the cubs.
Cindy added, "Jerald and I would always fun around about that, and say the wolf Indian is guiding our way through the night".

After a few minutes of further conversation, everyone bade good night just before Jerald and Cindy left to go back to their place. Now Jerald and Cindy were set for their first night at their own place...It would be tomorrow that Jerald and Cindy would get their possessions from the homes of their parents.
At Jerald and Cindy's place, Jerald and Cindy sat in the car snuggled up to each other a while with the doors open, listening to the radio, and occasionally noticing shooting stars in the night sky.
There was a 'star' related song that played on the car's radio seeming synonymous to Jerald and Cindy watching the shooting stars on that warm June night;

Later Jerald brought the groceries in from the car, along with the stove and lanterns. Cindy then prepared supper and brewed some coffee.
After Cindy and Jerald had supper, while sitting on the ramshackle chairs and at the wobbly table they were thankful to have, it was bedtime...And not just any bedtime...This was Jerald and Cindy's first night as a married couple.
The bed for now, until they can get a regular bed, was an old double size mattress on the bedroom floor with a few old sheets and blankets...But hey...It was a bed to say the least. And this was Jerald and Cindy's first night at their own home as husband and wife.

MONDAY, JUNE 27TH
Not long after Jerald and Cindy awoke shortly before dawn that morning, Cindy prepared breakfast.
"I should give you a ride to my dad and mom's house on my way to work", Jerald said to Cindy while they were still eating breakfast from that wobbly kitchen table. "They can take you to the realtor in Roswell to get those papers signed for the deed to our property".
"Oh by the way, Jed's birthday is today", Cindy mentioned.
"I almost forgot about that", Jerald replied as he went to get $5 from his clip-on wallet off the kitchen counter, to give to Cindy to put in her purse. "While you're in Roswell, how about getting Jed a birthday gift from us".
"Oh, five dollars", Cindy exclaimed. "That should buy a really nice gift for Jed".
"Well, with all Al and Marge helped our folks do for us, it's the least we could do", Jerald said as Cindy agreed.
After breakfast, Jerald and Cindy rode on over to Frank and Wanda's house in Duran on Jerald's way to work.
Upon arrival, it was Jerald's teenage sister, Dotty who answered the door.
"Oh hello, Cindy", Dotty said. "You're here to go to see Mom's cousin in Roswell for those deed papers?".
"Yes I am", Cindy replied. "And we do appreciate it".
"We're happy to help you two get started", Dotty said.
"I'd like to stay and talk, but I have to be leaving for work now", Jerald said.
"We'll see you this evening. Take care", Dotty bade her brother, Jerald.
"See you then", Jerald replied.
As Jerald made his way to his old '52 Pontiac (his and Cindy's car now), Dotty invited to Cindy, "Come on in and I'll put some coffee on. My mom and dad and Cheryl are still asleep, so we'll need to keep the noise down".
The brand of coffee that Frank and Wanda has at the house is the same brand that Al and Marge uses, Wilkins coffee, which was very good with savory flavour.
Of course, it was shortly thereafter that the 6:42 southbound freight train passed through Duran. However, as far as it waking everyone up, everyone was use to the sounds of the trains and slept through them...By the way, the 6:42 freight was that same train that came through shortly before the school bus arrived during the time school was in session...That train would pass Jerald and Cindy's place at 6:55.
The two sister-in-laws, Dotty and Cindy, had been sipping coffee and socializing in conversation a while by the time Frank, Wanda and Cheryl awoke.
"Hello, Cindy", Wanda greeted as Cindy greeted in return.
Frank, walking on his cane into the kitchen, said to Cindy, "A while after we have breakfast, the real estate office in Roswell should be open and well can go see Osmond about signing the deed papers".
"Have you had breakfast yet?", Wanda asked Cindy.
"Jerald and I ate before we left our place", Cindy replied. "But I will have some more coffee".
"Cindyyyyy. Hi there", little eight year old Cheryl greeted as she came into the kitchen.
"Hi there, little one", Cindy replied to Cheryl.
"Our little sleepy head is finally up", Frank said as Cheryl took a seat at the kitchen table.
After breakfast, Frank, Wanda, Dotty and Cindy, with little Cheryl, socialized a while before leaving for Roswell. It was by then 8:00 am and time to head on out. The real estate office opened at 10:00, and in Frank and Wanda's, six cylinder, '55 Chevy, wagon, it was a two hour trip to Roswell.
The station wagon being a two door, Frank and Wanda had to let Dotty, Cindy and Cheryl in on the back seat first before they themselves got in up front...Frank then cranked up the car's 235 cubic inch six cylinder motor, and they were on their way.
From Duran, they took Highway 54 going south, past Jerald and Cindy's place, and to Corona. Then from Corona they took Route 247 to Highway 285, and south on 285 to Roswell.
They arrived to the real estate office not long after it opened at 10:00 am, and about the time Wanda's cousin, Osmond Coyote came into work.
"They should be getting the papers ready right now", Osmond assured his cousin Wanda and the others.
"Oh that's great, Osmond", said Wanda. "We really appreciate it".
As everyone went inside, Ricky Raccoon was just finishing up getting the papers together as the family introduced Cindy and Ricky.
"Jerald had to be at work today", Osmond Coyote said to Ricky Raccoon. "Being a new job, you know how that is".
"I'm sure it was most likely he couldn't get a day off right now", Ricky Raccoon agreed, then said to Cindy, "Now you do know your husband's signature will have to be witnessed by those not related to either of you".
"We have neighbors we know well who said they'll sign as witnesses", Frank affirmed.
"They're having a birthday party for Jed today", Cheryl proclaimed.
"Well, tell Jed I said happy birthday", Ricky replied to Cheryl as he placed the papers out for Cindy to sign, some of which were triplicate forms with carbon paper between them to transfer signatures.
Frank and Wanda then had Dotty keep Cheryl entertained so she wouldn't get in the way of business being conducted.
Once Cindy signed all the places she needed to sign, Ricky Raccoon instructed Cindy, "Take these papers with you and have your husband sign them, and your neighbors sign as witnesses. Then bring them back here tomorrow".
Osmond Coyote added, "Once we get the papers back, we can submit them to the courthouse in Torrance County, and they'll have a deed issued to you for the property by next week".
"That will be it for today", said Ricky Raccoon. "All we need now are the papers signed and brought back".
"Jerald and I thank you very much", Cindy said to Osmond and Ricky just before they left.
"Oh. On your marriage. Congratulations", Ricky Raccoon said to Cindy as she and everyone thanked him.
After they left the real estate office, Cindy requested Frank and Wanda to stop at a toy store while in Roswell so she can get Jed a birthday gift...Cindy had heard Jed say on more than one occasion that he was wanting a skate board, thus Cindy got Jed a nice skate board and a helmet with the $5 Jerald gave her that morning...There was some change left from the $5, so Cindy used the change to have a store clerk gift wrap the skate board and helmet.
Then it was homeward bound back to Duran.
It was 1:30 in the afternoon when everyone arrived back home, and it would be still be a few hours yet before Al would return from work at Horizon Innovations Laboratories, and Jerald would return from work at the Highway Department. Jerald and Cindy had planned on gathering their belongs that were still at the places of their parents to take to their house trailer, but everyone agreed the following day would be a good time to do that with all that was going on that day.
Marge and the cubs dropped by, and being that no one had lunch yet, Wanda prepared lunch for everyone, after which, everyone socialized a while until Al and Jerald returned from work in the evening. In the meantime, Clarence, Jed, Rex, Donna and Cheryl went out to play with the other cubs in the neighborhood.
After Al returned home from work, he noticed Marge and the cubs had went to Frank and Wanda's house...So Al went walked over to join the rest of them where Marge greeted him and Wanda had some ice tea made.
If you want to call the cubs, I'll make some Kool-Aid for them", Wanda said to Frank.
As Frank began calling the cubs to come get some Kool-Aid, Jerald was arriving from work, where upon stepping out of the car, Cindy greeted Jerald with a hug and asked what they had going at work that day.
"They had us patching pot holes today on that bad stretch of 285 north of Cline's Corner", Jerald answered.
"I've heard about stretch of 285 that was needing repair for a long time", Frank mentioned.
Jerald also mentioned, "By the way, They got heavy equipment clearing a wide path alongside that part of Route 66 now".
"That Interstate 40 project they've been talking about perhaps", Frank mentioned.
"Our crew chief said that's what it is", Jerald affirmed. "I saw equipment being hauled out that way last week when we were doing that line painting job on 84".
"I knew I-40 is what Route 66 will be", Clarence said after sipping on his glass of grape Kool-Aid, but still being careful how much he said being that Cindy was present, and Cindy not knowing that Clarence was from the year 2018.
Jerald mentioned, "So far, the construction is beginning only west of The Hop. And our crew chief said it's going only to Moriarty for the time being".
Al had mentioned, "That sounds like they're going to do the rural stretches first".
Of course, because Al works as a scientist helping to develop technology for NASA and the military, if you were to ask him 'what they had going at work today', the answer would have to be most of the time, "It's classified information. I'm not allowed to reveal that".
As not to forget, Frank pawed the papers to Jerald that were from Cousin Osmond with the realtor in Roswell.
"Cindy brought these over for you to sign for the deed to the property", Frank said to Jerald.
"Oh yea. Thanks, Dad", Jerald said as he received the papers from Frank. "I almost forgot about those".
As Cindy was showing Jerald the places to sign, Frank said to Al and Marge, "We'll need two witness signatures from those not related to us".
"We'll be happy to sign it", Al replied as Marge agreed.
After the deed application papers were signed, everyone then walked over to Al and Marge's house, where Al began making the phone calls to those who were invited to Jed's birthday party, and Marge began making the preparations.
Cindy's parents, Fred and Charlot, and younger brother Scotty, wanted to attend. But Scotty had caught a summer cold, so Fred and Charlot thought best for Scotty not to spread the cold to everyone at the party.
Once everyone else who were invited arrived, the the cake was brought out to where there were already ice cream, chips, sodas, and other treats set out.
"Oh that's a nice cake", Wanda commented.
"What did you get Jed", Frank whispered to Cindy.
"A skate board and a helmet", Cindy whispered back.
"Jed has been wanting one of those for quite a while", Jerald whispered.
Of course, Cheryl took a seat at the table beside Clarence...They've been close friends since shortly after Clarence arrived to 1960.
"How does it feel to be eleven", Frank asked Jed.
"I can hardly wait until I'm 18", Jed answered as everyone chuckled.
"I'm sure that will come soon enough", Al said to his older son Jed.
Mama Marge took pictures of the cake, and had the Revere, 8mm, movie camera ready to take movie footage of the party...Black and white movie film of course.
After the 11 candles were lit, everyone sang, "Happy birthday to you - Happy birthday to you - Happy birthday to Je-ed - Happy birthday to you".
In one puff, Jed blew out all 11 candles.
"That means your birthday wish will come true", younger sister Donna said.
As everyone partook in cake, ice cream, soda and other goodies, they also presented the gifts thet brought for Jed.
The first gift was from Jerald and Cindy.
"Wow! A skate board!", Jed exclaimed, "And a crash helmet!".
"I know you've been wanting one of those", Marge said to Jed.
"Son. Don't try anything fancy until you get familiar with it", Al advised.
"And don't get on that skate board without wearing your helmet", Marge told Jed.
"Okay", Jed acknowledged, then thanked Jerald and Cindy for the gift.
As Al and Marge thanked Jerald and Cindy for Jed's gift, the other cubs presented their gifts...Being that the financial resources of cubs are limited to allowance money, gifts from other cubs were not exactly extravagant. However, those gifts were still nice. 10 year old Randy Fox got a toy pick up truck from the W. M. Hindi Store for Jed that was in the size range of Matchbox cars and present day HotWheels cars...Other such small toy cars and trucks were given by; Randy's 6 year old brother Alvin, 12 year old Ryan Lynx, 7 year old Zachery Bobcat Jr., Zachary's 6 year old sister Dedra, 6 year old Sid Calico Cat, and Jed's brother and step brother Rex and Clarence.
Zachary Bob Bobcat Sr. got Jed a toy rocket that was launched by an air bladder attached to the launch pad...Stomping on the air bladder launches the rocket higher than the tree tops.
Zachery Bobcat's wife, Joan, got Jed a junior astronomy telescope.
Younger sister Donna got Jed a yo-yo. Natiline Collie got Jed a musical flute. Ryan's 9 year old sister Janice got Jed a slingshot.
"Don't be getting yourself in any trouble with that slingshot", Daddy Al advised Jed. "Make sure you use that responsibly".
Timmy Bear, Randy Fox's 8 year old sister Connie, 7 year old Gail Skunk and her 5 year old brother Dennis chipped in to get Jed a toy car repair garage...It had working bay doors and a lift that you can actually raise up with a toy car on it at the pull of a lever.
Dotty's fiancee, Buddy, got Jed a gyro wheel.
Pete and Tabetha got Jed several car model kits, being that they knew Jed was into car models...Those being; 1957 Thunderbird, 1957 Corvette, 1959 Chevy ElCamino, 1956 Chevy Bel-air, and a 1951 Mercury hot rod.
Frank, Wanda and their older daughter Dotty chipped in to get Jed a bicycle, being that the bike Jed already had was wearing out and starting to fall apart...It was a blue bike, and like most bikes in 1960, it was a one speed, with coaster brakes, traditional style frame, had matching blue fenders with white tips, fat white wall tires, wide seat, a torpedo style headlight, and a torpedo style tail light beside the rear wheel...It even had a little >ching-ching< bell on the steering bar.

Daddy Al and Mama Marge got Jed an O-27 gauge, toy trolley to run on the train board the cubs have...It was elaborately detailed including an interior and a real working headlight, had actual spoke wheels, and even came with a pull behind, two axle, auxiliary car.
Everyone enjoyed the party well into evening, and for the rest of the evening, the cubs watched cartoons as the adults socialized in the dining room over some coffee. During that time, Rex and Donna went with Cheryl into the boys bedroom to draw some drawings with the laptop and drawing tablet...Cheryl's family already knew about the electronic devices Clarence had brought with him from the future when he had that mishap in the time travel machine.
Randy Fox came into the bedroom to inform Rex, Donna and Cheryl, "Hey you all. Jed said we can use his telescope to...", then upon seeing the laptop and drawing tablet for the first time, asked, "What's that?...Wow!"
Randy Fox was not suppose to know of the existence of that laptop and tablet, but before Rex could stop Randy Fox, Randy ran back to the living room, calling to his siblings, "Connie! Alvin! Ya gotta see this! This is so cool!".
As Randy, Connie and Alvin ran back to the boys bedroom, other cubs followed.
"What is it?!", Ryan Lynx exclaimed as he too ran to the bedroom.
"Wow! Cool!", said Timmy Bear.
"I hope that's not what I think it is", Al retorted as he Marge, Frank and Wanda got up from the dining room table and ran back to the boys bedroom.
Sure enough, others who were not suppose to know of the existence the laptop and drawing tablet had now seen it.
"I wanna see. I wanna see", said Dennis Skunk as he had a look.
"What did your mother and I tell you cubs about bringing that out when company is around?!", Al scorned at Rex and Donna.
"Not to do it", Rex timidly replied.
"You're damn right!", Al said.
"Cheryl. You knew better too", Frank reprimanded his daughter.
"What the Hell is that thing?", Pete Skunk asked as he and his wife Tabetha could hardly believe what they were seeing.
Upon Gail Skunk seeing it, she asked, "Can you draw a pee-pee with it?".
"You put that up right now. And I mean now", Marge warned Rex and Donna.
Upon Zachery Bobcat Sr. seeing the laptop and drawing tablet, he said, "Oh my gosh! If W. Mongoose knew where to get these, I bet we can sell a lot of them in the store!"
"They won't be invented for another 40 years yet", Al Coyote replied to Zachery Bobcat.
"I don't understand", Zachery Bobcat said as Rex and Donna were putting the laptop and drawing tablet up as they were told.
"We're all going have a talk about it in the living room", Al Coyote told Zachery Bobcat.
"What happened?", Jed asked Dotty.
"Your brother and sister pulled that fold up computer and drawing thingie out, and now everyone saw it", Dotty answered.
"Oh great", Jed sighed.
Al and Marge then summonsed everyone into the living room.
"Hey, we were watching Gumby and Pokey", six year old Sid Calico Cat retorted as the Zenith brand, black and white television was turned off.
"This is more important", Marge assured Sid.
"What is that thing?", Pete Skunk asked as everyone were gathering in the living room.
"You're about to find out", Al assured Pete, then started out, "The knowledge of these devices you just now saw can not be shared with others. Nor can anything else I have to tell you about this be shared".
"Why is that, Al?", Zachery Bobcat Sr. asked.
"First let me ask, can I trust everyone here to keep what you are about to hear tonight a secret?", Al asked everyone. "And make it clear to your cubs not to tell others?".
"You can trust Tabetha and I", Pete Skunk assured Al as Tabetha agreed.
"It's safe with us", Zachery Bobcat also assured Al as Joan Bobcat agreed.
"Sure thing. Yeah", Randy Fox affirmed as everyone else also gave their promise of secrecy.
"I should phone the cubs parents who are not here", Marge said.
"Good idea", Al said to Marge. "They need to be here too. They need to know what their cubs now know".
"Within 15 minutes after Marge made phone calls, all the parents of the neighborhood cubs who were attending the party arrived.
"What's this about?", Natiline Collie's mom asked as she and her husband walked in.
"Darline. What we saw tonight, I have a feeling we'll all soon know", Zachery Bobcat replied to Natiline's mom.
Once everyone was present, Al said to the parents who recently arrived as he had said to the others, "We need to be able to trust everyone here to keep what you are about to hear tonight a secret. And make it clear to your cubs not to tell others?".
Like those who had attended the party, the parents who had just arrived also gave their promise of secrecy as well.
Al then began with, "The devices some of you saw our cubs playing with tonight are from a future day and time", as Marge, Frank, Wanda, Jerald and Dotty acknowledged.
"What devices?", Ryan and Janice's dad, Sammy Lynx, asked. "Future day and time?".
"Sammy, we all saw those devices just before you all got here", Pete Skunk said .
"No one besides us were suppose to know about it", Frank added as the others could barely believe what they hearing.
"From the future?", Cindy asked Jerald, "What are Al and your dad talking about?".
"You'll see", Jerald replied.
Marge announced to everyone's surprise, "Our step son, Clarence, didn't become an orphan by death of his parents. Clarence is from the year 2018. In this day and time, his parents are not even born yet".
"I thought those other scientists said Clarence was from the 26th Century or some time like that", Frank said as the others were awestruck in almost disbelief.
"That was told to you to protect a project the lab has in planning", Al said to Frank. "I'm not allowed to tell what that is though".
"You mean like sort of a time machine", Sid Calico Cat's dad exclaimed.
"So you're saying Clarence is actually not from this day and time?" Randy, Connie and Alvin's dad, Roy Fox, asked.
"Roy, if you saw those things we all saw three of the cub drawing with tonight, I think it would convince you", Pete Skunk said.
Roy Fox then said, "Had it not been for so many collaborating this account, I would never have believed it. I never dreamed in my entire lifetime I'd be hearing about something like this".
"I was never told about any of this", Buddy Coyote said to Dotty.
"We were suppose to keep it secret", Dotty Coyote replied.
Al and Marge recounted to the others the time back on February 9th about that time when they picked up Clarence at that roadside location off of Highway 54 on that cold and rainy morning. They also mentioned that Clarence arrived to the present by accident, and that the machine he arrived in sustained damage on Clarence's journey through time".
"Wow! Where can we see this time machine?!", Timmy Bear's dad asked with much enthusiasm.
"We're not allowed to disclose the whereabouts of that machine", Al replied, much to the disappointment of Timmy Bear's mom and dad. "That machine is classified information".
"As it already is, We've told you things you all are not suppose to know", Marge said to everyone. "But with what many of you have already seen, that could no longer be helped as of now".
Al and Marge did get the laptop and drawing tablet out and bring it into the living room for those who have not yet seen it to have a look...And everyone was amazed almost beyond belief at this new kind of computer and drawing device that until now had been beyond what any of them could have even imagined.
Cubs and adults alike had turns trying out the laptop and drawing tablet as instructed by Al and Marge's cubs.
Al even made the offer, as Marge agreed, "Any of you cubs who are present here tonight are now always welcome to use the laptop and tablet".
Quite naturally, the cubs cheered, "Yeaahhhh!".
"But that privilege comes with with the condition that none of you tell anyone else who is not here tonight", Al told the cubs. "And that includes that you don't tell anyone about what you all heard here tonight. If one cub messes up, it ruins the privilege for everyone".
"Hopefully, that should be enough incentive for these cubs not blab this all over the neighborhood", Marge said to Al.
"That's why I made that offer with that stipulation", Al said to Marge. "I've got my fingers crossed that it works".
After that matter was out of the way, everyone was invited to have some coffee and left over birthday cake and ice cream.
And there was yet one more matter to be dealt with tonight. That was the issue of Rex, Donna and Cheryl taking out the laptop and drawing tablet when guests were present, despite being told not to. Daddy Al took Rex and Donna outside and gave them a good paddling. And Cheryl's dad, Frank, took Cheryl outside, broke a stick off a tree branch and gave her a good switching with it.

Later that night, the neighbor cubs who attended Jed's party were invited to a sleep-over, which all the parents approved of. So as Jerald and Cindy left to go to their place, and as Frank, Wanda and Dotty went back to their house, and the other parents went back to their homes in the neighborhood, the cubs stayed to spend the night at Al and Marge's place with Jed, Rex, Clarence and Donna.
Just before it was bed time, sheets and dining room chairs were used to set up a blanket fort in the living room for the cubs to spend the night in...Blankets were laid in the blanket fort for the cubs to sleep on.
"Our cool tent house", said Randy Fox.
"We're nice and cozy in our tent", said Natiline Collie as 15 cubs occupied the blanket fort.
"We'll protect our fort", Jed Coyote declared.
"You're the birthday boy. You should", Connie Fox jested.
"I can help you protect our fort", Ryan Lynx said to Jed.
"Me too", Timmy Bear added.
"You cubs can protect the fort in the morning", Al told the cubs. "Right now, it's time to get some sleep".
Thus as Al and Marge went to bed, the 15 cubs settled down to go to sleep in the blanket fort.

 ______________________________
Later in the night, shortly after 10:00 pm at Jerald and Cindy's place, Jerald asked Cindy, "Do you want to see that time machine tonight?".
"Well, I can't say I've ever seen a time machine before", Cindy said. "I would like to. Yes".
"I'm ready when you are", Jerald said just before he and Cindy blew out the kerosene lanterns they had for light in the house trailer, then headed out to the car.
Jerald brought along a hammer and a small, flat, wrecking bar they had at the trailer...A flashlight was always kept in the dash compartment of the car (Flashlights were made of chrome plated metal or stainless steel in those days).
"What are those for", Cindy asked.
"They've built a building around the machine so no one would find it", Jerald said to Cindy. "I remember that building has metal panels held on with roof tin nails. I'm going to pry enough nails out to pull a metal panel back so we can see the machine".
"Okay", Cindy replied as they got into the car.
Jerald then cranked up the flat head, inline, six cylinder motor in that old, 1952 Pontiac, and they were off and on their way to see the time machine...As Jerald and Cindy proceeded on their way, they jested about the car's iluminated hood ornament being that wolf Indian guiding their way.

A couple of early 1950s song played on the car's radio, which even at that time were old songs...'At Last';

Jerald and Cindy eventually rode north past Duran, and while cruising northward at about 50 mph on Highway 54, with the stars shining brightly in the night sky, the next song played on the radio of that '52 Pontiac...'Thinking of You'.
Shortly after the song begun playing, Cindy asked Jerald, "What does this time machine look like?...I somehow envision some kind of contraption looking thing".
"It's actually kind of like disk shaped, kinda like a flying saucer", Jerald replied as they rode along and song on the car radio continued to play. "It has four landing legs and a sliding door. And I remember seeing a lot of control gadgets inside...And there's this column thing that has power rings, or light rings of some sort".
The song, 'Thinking of You';

Just before the song ended, Cindy said, "We should have brought a camera".
"Gee, I wish we had thought about that", Jerald said. "Although...I'm sure who ever develops the film will wonder what's on the picture".
"Oh wow. That's right", replied.
After continuing north on 54, the rock formation finally came into sight. Being sure there were no headlights of other cars in sight on the highway, Jerald slowed down and pulled of onto the dirt path leading around to behind the rock formation...And there, being illuminated by the headlights of Jerald's car was the utility building housing the time machine.
"So it's in that building?", Cindy asked.
"Yes it is", Jerald replied as he parked the car and shut off the motor.
Cindy and Jerald got out of the car, Jerald also grabbing the hammer, flat bar and flashlight.
As they approached the building, the flashlight and their own canine night vision were all they had to guide them as the crescent moon was already setting in the west.
"Once I pry enough nails out of this metal panel, I should be able to pull it out enough for us to see the machine", Jerald told Cindy as he began hammering the flat bar under the head of the first nail.
"I take it this machine won't send us to another time, will it?", Cindy asked as Jerald pryed the first nail out.
"I believe you have to be in it and working the controls or mess with something for it to do that", Jerald assured Cindy while working on getting the next nail out.
It wasn't long before Jerald was able to pull one of the building's metal panels outward enough for him and Cindy to get a good look at the machine as Jerald shined a flashlight in on it.

"I've never seen anything like this", Cindy declared as she peeked into the building. "So Clarence came from the 21st Century in this machine".
"Doesn't seen possible, does it", Jerald mentioned.
"If he did it, it is", Cindy replied.
The time machine's door had been left open being that it was now inside of a building.
"Like Al and Marge said tonight, the machine got damaged on the way here", Jerald said to Cindy. "I've been told a team of scientists occasionally come here from Nevada try to get it fixed so Clarence can get back his day and time".
"I can see where things have been dismantled inside", Cindy affirmed as she and Jerald were still looking at the time machine from the small opening Jerald made in the building.

"What do all those rings going through each other in that tube do", Cindy then asked Jerald, referring to the machine's glass enclosed, energy reactor column located inside the center of the craft.
"I don't know what those do", Jerald answered Cindy. "If it not some kind of power generator, then I would have no idea. I know one of the scientists where Al works didn't let me in the machine 'cause he said it was too dangerous".
The machine was certainly eerie to Cindy as well as it still was to Jerald. Like the machine's energy reactor, the instrumentation was also active. And even though the read-out displays faced toward the operator's seat, light from the 'present time' display's red numerical diodes can be seen reflecting from the machine's ceiling, as well as from the white dot matrix displays.

Eventually, Cindy said, "Jerald, lets go. There'e something scary about being around that machine".
"As soon as I get this panel nailed back in place, we're out of here", Jerald promised Cindy.
After securing the side of the building panel as it previously was, using the same nails that had been pulled out, Jerald and Cindy got back in the car and headed back home.

TUESDAY, JUNE 28TH
In the morning, Frank gave his daughter-in-law, Cindy, a ride to the realtor in Roswell to return the signed deed application papers to Wanda's cousin Osmond. Everything on the forms was in order and Osmond Coyote assured Cindy that the deed will be issued in her and Jerald's names by next week.
On the way back from Roswell, Frank offered to Cindy, "We can stop by at your mom and dad's place to get your stuff. There should be plenty enough room in this station wagon for it all".
"I appreciate that. Thank you", Cindy accepted Frank's offer.
So instead of turning off on State Route 247, they took Highway 285 to Vaughn.
Upon arriving to Fred and Charlot's place, Charlot gave her daughter, Cindy, a hug then greeted everyone...Fred was at work at the Santa Fe rail yard where he operates a switcher locomotive.
After Frank informed Charlot there were there to get Cindy's belongs, Charlot asked, "How was Jed's birthday yesterday?"
"It went great. Jed was happy with the gifts he got", Frank replied, but not mentioning anything to Charlot or Scotty about everyone discovering the laptop and drawing tablet that evening.
After Scotty blew some snot from his nose into a handkerchief he was carrying around, he said, "This stupid pookey ole cold caused me to miss the party".
"Aw, I'm sorry, Scotty. But sometimes things happen that way", Cindy said to her younger brother.
Frank then got permission from Charlot to use their phone so he can call Wanda and tell her that he and Cindy are taking time out to move Cindy's belongings from her parents house...After the phone call was made, Frank and Cindy then commenced to gathering Cindy's belongs from what use to be her bedroom, to take Frank's station wagon...Of course, Frank had to be careful how he moved stuff because of his right leg being injured in that work accident four years earlier.
"You might want to get your old bed", Frank suggested.
"Yeah but...Jerald and I use a double bed", Cindy said.
"Once you start having cubs, they'll want a bed by the time they outgrow a crib", Frank replied.
"Oh I haven't thought about that", Cindy responded, thus Cindy's old single bed was dismantled and also taken.
After a little more than an hour of moving and packing stuff, Cindy's old bedroom was empty, and that 1955 Chevy wagon was packed full.
"Well, tell Fred I said hi", Frank said as he and Cindy bade Charlot and Scotty good day.
"I will", Charlot replied. "Tell Jerald we said hi also".
From Cindy's parents place in Vaughn, Frank and Cindy headed straight to Cindy and Jerald's place to unload the station wagon.
As Frank brought the first of Cindy's belongings into the house trailer, he asked, "Where do you want this?".
"Just put it anywhere", Cindy replied. "Jerald and I can find places for it tonight".
Unloading the station didn't take near as long as loading it at Fred and Charlot's house. And before long, Frank and Cindy were on their way back to Duran.
Later that evening, after Al got off work from the laboratory complex, and Jerald got off work from the highway department, Al, Frank and Jerald gathered Jerald's belongings from his old bedroom at Frank and Wanda's house. Being that Jerald and Cindy were going to their place that night, they hauled some stuff in the Pontiac so it would be less stuff Frank would have to haul in his station wagon...Al rode with Frank to help unload things into Jerald and Cindy's place.
After Frand and Al left to go back to Duran, Jerald and Cindy would up late moving stuff to designated places in their house trailer before going to bed...When places in the trailer were found for everything, it was finally off to bed for a good night's sleep.

______________________________
DURING A FEW FOLLOWING DAYS
On the way to work in the mornings, Jerald would drop Cindy off at his parents place for the day while he was at work, being their place was in rural countryside, and they didn't yet have a phone...The idea was discussed of having Cindy drop Jerald off at work so she can have the car during the day, except Cindy never before had a driver's license. As a result of this dilemma, Cindy would be looking into getting a driver's license...And it had been discussed that Jerald and Cindy should try to manage getting a 2nd car.
Family members and close friends had planned in the days to come help Jerald and Cindy get a septic system dug out and put in place, and eventually get a well put in, which would mean also getting electrical service to run a well pump...However, it would be a while before the house trailer itself would be hooked up to electrical service...After all, being that the trailer came from Hank Coyote's junk collection, they wanted to be sure the wiring was in good shape before applying electricity to it.
By the way, Jerald and Cindy had already begun the process with the phone company of getting phone service hooked up.

To be continued.

Throughout this story, multiple links to songs are being set up.
That is because Youtube is aggressively shutting down accounts that have music videos. So in case you click a link and get their notice like shown below, there are two other links to the same song;
