NOW we're getting somewhere! The Mages' Guild sure does make a bunch of messes for themselves, and Karnarath has always been there to save them from embarrassment... until now >=3 Finally recognizing his service to the guild, they grant him access to the item enchantment service. Thank you, and good riddance, quest-giver! As Karnarath immediately begins to abuse his newly earned privilege, he gets his first lead on the haunting of Daggerfall. No reason to disappoint his bestest buddy the emperor, so he stocks his ship with toys/snacks and sets sail for Hammerfell.
An eventful episode. I cut out a bit of grinding which did leave me struggling to explain a classic Bethesda quick-fix. If there's a video-game equivalent for duct tape, Bethesda's patches are rich with the stuff.
