Follow Up to the Unicorn

Might as well put this here now XP. It'll go on FA when and if they deign to unban me, haha.

--

So I wanted to write something to follow up from the shit that's happened recently, if anybody gives a shit about what I've actually got to say I'm going to try and put it down here the best way I can.

I'd like to start by explaining what the gender unicorn cartoon was about. Now what I do with cartoons is I make them deliberately basic and simplified; when one leaves gaps in the reasoning and such, it invites discussion as people find openings to bring something up. I did the same thing with the unicorn cartoon, but something unexpected happened. I generally account for the fact that no matter what I say, there will be at least a few dozen or so people who just troll me or are so angry they outright attack me with no intention of discussing anything. This time around, there were more than a few hundred people rather than that few dozen and it completely threw me. Instead of going on to further discuss what people brought up about the cartoons' obvious shortcomings, I found myself fending off attack after attack, most often outright lies about me as a person. There were some who did try to engage and my attention was too divided by all the rest of the shit that I couldn't argue with so many people at once. If you fault me for that, you're welcome to, but I suggest you try it yourself. Chances are you'll never be in that position, you can be grateful for it.

Anyway, here's the crux of my argument:

1) Gender is slowly being taught to children as being a spectrum. There are two problems with this, the first is factual, the second is moral. Gender is the state of being male or female according to the cultural norms of the society in question. The modern usage of the term is down to a sexologist by the name of John Money, who wished to distinguish gender roles from biological sex. He's the dude famous for trying this out with horrifying results. Advising parents of a boy whose penis had been mutilated beyond repair as a baby to raise the boy as a girl instead. Well, for the details of that you can look up David Reimer online or read a summary here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Money . To put it short, it caused hell for that family. Anyway, gender is correlated with biological sex at above .95, which means almost everybody has the same gender in a given society as their biological sex characteristics would suggest. The rest of the population do not for one reason or another, from intersex to transgender individuals. When all members of a population fit into one of two groupings to .95, you have a bi-modal distribution. This means over 95% of all people are not on any kind of spectrum. If there is indeed a gender spectrum it could only apply to the remaining percentage of the population. For all intents and purposes, there is no gender spectrum, it categorically does not exist. End of story.

As for the moral issue, this is the most important thing for me. It is one thing for us adults to discuss gender and for scientists and academics to study it, that's all great and I have no problem with it. It is quite another, in lieu of even having that discussion, to prescribe that children be taught gender is a spectrum or, if you're in Sweden (what are you fucking doing, Sweden?), teaching children that gender doesn't even exist. We already know from all the data that even if gender could be represented as a spectrum (it can't) that it would have nothing to do with 95% of the population. If you teach young children that their own gender is something that it actually isn't, there are moral implications to that. First it will be a lie; it is morally wrong to lie like this, it's not something innocent and fun like Santa, it's something that is directly linked to their very identity, something that is forming in very complicated ways during childhood (imagine taking a male to female transgender person and saying "no, you are a boy, stop being ridiculous). Second, it is prioritizing the spreading of ones socio-political position above that of the mental health of children. I think it is more important that children have the opportunity to grow into themselves with as little ideological influence as possible, especially if it is state controlled, funded and mandated. Why? Imagine a government being elected whom you detested and they had the power to indoctrinate your own child with their political beliefs in the classroom. Like making them believe in a religion you don't believe in. Would you be horrified? I expect that you would. Please note that this horror should also be felt, if you are a person of principle, when it is an ideology you agree with being taught to children. You are in favour of doing the exact same thing to your opponents children that would make you crazy with murderous rage would they do it to yours.

The most important thing I want to drive home here is this: whatever our beliefs are, we are not to ever, ever, play dice with human lives, betting on the outcome of the roll that we will be vindicated. If you bet on the wrong outcome you can't re-roll the dice of the decimated millions of lives your failure to understand reality has wrought. You can't turn back the clock. Learn one thing if you ever learn anything, none of us know what the fuck we are doing in this life, changing ourselves is extremely hard, changing our families is beyond most of us, changing our friends too. Changing society? Don't dare think you know how THAT should work. Not only this, not only is making the change so difficult but what is even more so is knowing that the change we wish to make is the best thing to do. And not just the best, but that your method of achieving it would or could ever lead to it. The moment you think you know what you're talking about is the moment you are completely and utterly wrong. As for how we can figure out what IS the right course to take in society, that's another topic for another time. The key point is KEEP GENDER THEORY AWAY FROM YOUNG CHILDREN. Their lives are worth more than your biases, and mine.

2) This is not and never will be about transgender people. Trans people, from what I can understand from listening to them, are transitioning from one gender to another. They transition from the biological sex they were born with to the opposite sex, because they have always felt they were born into the wrong body. I have nothing but empathy for transgender people, they deal with some truly heavy shit in their lives and I wish them the best with those burdens, I truly do. I believe we have a moral and ethical duty to give a damn when people are in pain and if anything can be done to help, I think it should be. What trans people are not, however, is gender fluid. They aren't on a spectrum. If gender is truly a spectrum and it is fluid, as is the claim so often made and the line so close to being mainstream in schools if we let it, then what of transexual folks? If gender is fluid, surely it means that transgender people cannot exist, their pain cannot be based on anything tangible, because if it can change based on our feelings or wishes, wouldn't transition be an entirely mental process, the body being meaningless? If gender is on a spectrum and the spectrum concept is pro-trans, why do trans people feel they're either male or female and not one of the ever growing number of new genders? Do trans people agonise over HRT, surgery, psychiatry and various other means of support and intervention, to transition into being agender, spacegender etc? Do. They. Fuck.

This spectrum nonsense? It rides on the back of transgender people, uses their very real status as mistreated and misunderstood fellow citizens to lump in political rhetoric with no basis whatsoever. Effectively, the concept of a gender fluid spectrum is transphobic, it rubbishes their situation and it uses them to score political points. All you have to do is call any opponent of the rhetoric a transphobe and the convenient human shields play their part for you, the world sees their real suffering and responds by tearing the faces off the opponent of the spectrum. In. Fucking. Genius. Have a look for the same tactics in other areas of social justice. Partial spoiler: you won't have to look hard or for long.

3) I said in the original toon that trans people have an illness. This, understandably, upset many people; especially since I did not, nor had I the opportunity later, clarify what I meant. Saying that transgender people have an illness is not an insult, it isn't intended to be an insult. Take depression. I have that bastard, have a particularly severe and lifelong variety of it. The only way to get that taken seriously is by making sure people recognize it is an illness and not someone just being weak and/or lazy. I can tell you the biggest pain in the arse when it comes to having depression and living amongst others is when people don't consider it an illness and consider you a whiny bastard. So when I say trans is an illness what I'm saying is that it is something that is very complicated, unpleasant to go through (to put it mildly), requires medical intervention and requires some consideration from other people. If by this I come across as unfeeling towards transgender people, I'm not sure how the fuck I could appear caring.

4) This is not about trans "erasure" (not the band, but I've actually been accused of trying to erase trans people, like Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 90s), or stopping people from learning about trans folk. I say raise awareness, same way we do with gay people. No problems with that at all. I'm only bringing this up because I saw it again and again said about me that I want to prevent kids from learning about trans folks, that I have a devious Nazi agenda to kill them all or whatever ridiculous tripe people get into their small brains.

----

Before I wind this up, one last bit of stuff I'd like to say. To those of you whom have messaged me with abusive shit, then blocked me before I could respond, along with those of you leaving shouts on my FA after I'd been suspended: I could not imagine a more perfect, on-the-nose, crystalline definition of the word "chickenshit" if I had the rest of my life to think of one. You can, knowing many others are doing it too, send shitty little messages to a single person with the intent to hurt them and yet believe you're actually virtuous for doing it. Not only this, but you have to make sure there is next to no chance there will be any consequences for it, even coping with my ability to reply back is too much for you. Pathetic.

To those of you who decided to simply believe I'm scum and give me shit based on a cartoon, with zero effort to even ask me or clarify what I think: You are the reasons cults exist.

To those of you who actually know me, have never had any shit from me but politeness, yet you still turned on me the second you saw that fucking unicorn drawing: Shame on you, fucking snakes.

It is not a virtue to enjoy trying to hurt a stranger. You lot are supposed to be the "good guys" in all this. Even fucking movies wouldn't get away with the "hero" behaving like you sad sacks do. Can you not even TRY? I guess not.

Don't mistake this essay shit for an apology, by the by, it most certainly is not one. Apologies are not owed or on offer. The only thing I might owe any of you is a pike up the anus. Or a photo of your mum with cum on it, mailed to your dad.

----

Big thank you to all of you lovely people who kept your heads on your shoulders and didn't jump at the chance, cock in hand, to have a good old wank as you type invectives at a stranger. You keep me sane and you're the only reason I'm bothering to continue what I'm doing. If you appreciate me taking on some baggage then I'll take it on for you because, like the L'Oréal ads doth say, you're worth it.

Aye, I read the original posts and you're not wrong. it's hilarious that the disjointed people who can't accept what they don't like instantly went on a warpath against you.

The fact is: Sex/gender is biologically determined at birth. Yes, you can "feel" or "choose" to live a certain way, but the fact is we have males and we have females. You can put on makeup, take hormones, etc, but you'll never truly be the other gender.

You can go through hormones, surgery, etc, but you'e sterile at that point and you will have no offspring, therefore removing yourself from the genetic pool and then, what does it matter?

I say the same thing about religion: Enjoy what you want, but the instant you're demanding or conditioning other people to think the same way as you, it's no long "just your preference", you're demanding that I partake it in and I have every right in the world to say "no" and you have to deal with that.

I know what your going for but actual Hermaphroditic humans do not exist. You mean inter-sexed. I get what your after though, but somethings not a hermaphrodite unless it's biologically the norm for that being  and  there capable of preforming both biological functions of male and female reproduction.

like a flower, or a Shuna in the universe Kiffen has been building for a while now. there ARE inter-sexed humans but it's due to a
rare genetic defect, and there born sterile. At least I have not been made aware of any capable of reproduction.

The internet:  where access and anonymity give some people license to snipe without consequence.  Curse Al Gore's invention!

Sex & gender are complex issues, largely informed by culture and time.  Back in the early 80s we had "gender benders" like Annie Lennox & Boy George.  People got over it because we had bigger fish to fry--such as Soviet aggression and such.  But the fact that we're even having these dialogues is evidence prima facie that we've become so comfortable that such "Princess and the Pea" conflicts are even an issue.

Thank you for clarifying.  And I agree, apologies aren't necessary at all.

As for the illness thing, the only beef I have with that really is that where I'm from, being labeled "mentally ill" does carry a stigma, and sometimes that stigma can be so pronounced that you won't be able to find work, or a place to live, or people will make thinly veiled threats to you based on your diagnosis.  One guy went so far as to say that he had every right to know the nature of my disability when I was trying to find a place to live, because "if you go crazy and I have to kill you, I don't want to be held accountable for murder."   (I'm on Social Security Disability and it is highly illegal to even ask people what the nature of their disability is, because it's against federal law to discriminate against someone based on their disability.)  This is the kind of shit that people who have been labeled "mentally ill" have to deal with in some places, and that's why calling trans people mentally ill really causes such a ruckus.  It wouldn't be so bad if people didn't immediately think you were going to go berzerk on them out of the clear blue sky the way a lot of people do.

On the bright side, at least the fucker who threatened me was honest.  Made me realize I didn't want to rent from him.

DrReverb
6 years, 8 months ago
I'm mentally ill as well, but thankfully I have supportive people around me. Mental illness may carry stigma, but it doesn't change what it is. If people were to tell those with depression, bipolar, ect. they weren't mentally ill the suicide rate would be much higher. Same goes with transgender people (which I also know in person). They are faced with a struggle and need all the help they can get (counseling and transition if necessary). Many will tell you they wish they didn't feel that way. In the end, all these people need our love and support.
Keeran
6 years, 8 months ago
the problem is that you need a culture that does accept people with mental illness, but is willing to eventually help them manage it.
We can all talk about treatment all we want all day, but in the end, there is no cure. Treatments go as far as to suppress the underlying problem, but it doesn't fix it, and the effectiveness for treatments do not hold the same strength forever. As far as it goes, the "normalizing mental illness" culture is the direct response to the culture that was more proponent in  putting anyone with any mental disorder into an assylum. Only 10 years ago, we started to become more accepting of it once there were more people  with it. Hell, 20, even 30 years ago, that wasn't the case.

It's sad that people are too lazy to think for themselves or even read before throwing crap. One thing I like in you, besides the cute toon art, you voice your opinion even when you know it's not popular, you think something and are not afraid to let people know you think that way. I might not agree with you all the time, but damn your arguments sure are a good read! You inform yourself before hand (which sadly doesn't happen that often), make your points and make solid arguments to back them up without attacking people (a sad internet favorite). After all this, you still give people the chance to argue with you, to tell you where they think you were wrong. I started by following you only by the art, but as the time passes, I notice myself wondering when will you make a political/controversial post again.
MaximilianUltimata

As I said before in the unicorn post, what we previously knew about gender, identities and sexualities seems to be dissolving (albeit very, VERY slowly) as we as a society evolve. Gender as we define it is something more than the genitals; that's just the biological end. I think the problem and the various sciences involved (namely biology and psychology) are currently too complicated for the average human mind to comprehend at its best, much less be foisted onto children.

Long story short, you're both right and wrong. The subject is highly complex and nuanced and based heavily on how it makes a person feel combined with highly inferior and primitive knowledge, but gender, all its associations and our reception to them are a lot more than a purely binary factor.
RoareyRaccoon
6 years, 8 months ago
That's not true, its a confusion between gender and individual personality differences being misattributed as new gender constructs when all it really is is just people being themselves.
LexiTheShunamir

I wonder, have you ever actually seen a hermaphrodite? They do exist and are not male or female, they are physically a bit of each.
IsaacEinfalt
6 years, 8 months ago
They are exceedingly rare. Like, exceeeeeeedingly rare, at about 0.05% of the populace, and at birth typically have a gender assignment ,provided they have a fully functioning set of sex organs because those who don't are incapable of sex, and tend to still Identify one way or the other. Male or Female, not both. (By the way most hermaphrodites tend to get a gender assignment of female at birth).
Ainoko

Sadly surgically assigning a natural born herm a gender after they are born is one of the worst ideas ever. It has been proven via research and real life observation that the doctors and parents have a 50% chance of making the right choice.

https://www.buzzfeed.com/azeenghorayshi/born-in-between...

Over the years, those who went through reassignment surgery after they were born went through hell, mentally, emotionally and physically.

I believe that if you are born intersex or one of your children are born intersex, it should not be left up to the doctors, parent or society to determine what your gender will be at birth. Let the child remain intersex until they make the choice to be male or female, that is the only and best way to ensure that the intersex child will be the correct gender when they reach maturity.

100% agree...The very notion of doctors making that decission on a new born instead of allowing the baby to grow up and make that decission for themselves when they get older is wrong on all levels.

This may be only my opinion, but I believe when the practice of routine infant circumcision got going in the 1960s, and became widely accepted as the norm, that's what got the foot in the door for doctors making this kind of decission today...

Hmm,  i'm curious to see if you have watched these two videos?

Part 1 part 2

Becasue in order to  assert said arguments, you have to see all three viewpoints on the subject of the definition of Gender.  You can say "there are two genders" and hoot it out, but you can see how that is getting us nowhere.

Looking at all three viewpoints objectively would indefinitely understand each school of thought and come to a better conclusion.

Once you have seen both videos,  I'd love to  discuss the  defintions we side on ( Of which, i also side on the definition  that Grose has explained as well,  and would even  point out cultural, languages, and even scientific rationale behind the language as well as the evolution of the definition of the word, "sex," as it involves the evolution of the definition of the word, "gender")

Your opinion is based on solid science. You have the backing from genetics, ethnology, reproductive biology, psychology, and others. The evidence indicates that there are only two genders. I just wouldn't call transgender people ill, but I know what you mean, nevertheless...
All of this shitstorm points to an issue prevalent in the furry community, that I have noted by observing internet forums: the lack of critical thinking skills. You see it in a variety of different topics, ranging from cub porn, to this. Granted, this is not a problem unique to furry, but it seems strange considering the fandom has a lot of people who study computer related fields, and that requires good logical ability.
I know, people here are artists. Artists are stereotypes as more emotional than logical. But that is no excuse. I think that people are leaning too much on the "I am an artist, I am an emotional person" to excuse lazy thinking and immature behavior. I have also seen a lot of "help me help me I am in distress!!" journals, written by attention whores who are too fragile to be on the internet, because let's face it: not everyone was meant to be on the internet, especially Inkbunny.
These people might believe they are empathetic, because they are artists, or furries, or whatever cockamamie reason they have for believing that. But they are far from empathetic. They are children trapped in adult bodies, and like you said, they have to make sure there are no consequences for their behavior in order for them to act. We've bred a culture of cowards.
Like I have said before: I support freedom of expression. If I disagree with something, I'll either ignore it or challenge it (depending on stamina and mood, lol), but I'll never just insult and block you from my life. Your cartoon was as scientifically accurate as it could be. It stated the facts, and funny thing is, people's crying, insulting, blocking, accusing, drama prostitution, leaving IB, won't change the facts at all. All of that is energy spent in vain, instead of being channeled to learn more about a topic these people clearly know nothing about.
srfox

Another thing that shows how emotionally labile some people in here are, are the people who not only got angry at your cartoon and called you names, but who also deleted their gallery, and said they weren't doing cubs anymore, citing your cartoon and Greenreaper not censoring it as a reason. Like, man, what does cub have to do with this! It's like my joke says, furries and nuclear weapons have a lot in common: one little thing triggers a huge explosive chain reaction.

But after reading this I'm sure some of the easily triggered people might calm down from this.

Also dude I'm in English class I gotta do a 20 page research paper help me please XD  in all seriousness tho this will hopefully blow over after a couple of days or weeks. Zakurei
6 years, 8 months ago
How many people actually suffer from all this out of the hundreds of people who trolled roarey? I highly doubt even a handful of people were actually trans. They were just piggybacking off of the shitstorm to boost their own popularity and score points. If you actually READ this journal it explains and counters what you just said, so back off. I am gonna tell you and everyone else gender dysphoria IS AN ILLNESS! It is a form of depression (which is also an illness, one I have had all my life) which I can sympathize with, but I will not sit here and tiptoe around people's feelings at the cost of my own because they want to be a special card carrier giving them permission to be awful because they were born wrong. I have trans friends, trans family and such, it is not lost on me, I am not apathetic, but I do know where this kind of behavior leads and where it comes from, so yes a good lot of you SHOULD indeed apologize.
BrokenPupper
6 years, 8 months ago
The "I have trans something" platitude means nothing, it's the same wasteful excuse people have when defending bigoted views towards people by saying their are "friends" with said people. Also no, outright staring that people are mentality ill to suit your own ideology without talking to any of them, without looking up something outside a reactionary hitpiece WHILE shutting on other people's sources to their arguments is not something people are just going to simply nod their head. You purposely ignored the horrendous things said by those opposing this viewpoint of your boyfriend and went "haha y'all are sjwing" on Twitter as if that ever was a valid statement. People are not gaining "popularity" as you assume they are, they were legit mad over then and their friends being thrown under the bus. So no, unless people like Axelfurret (who you should know by now has always been a hateful lout in this community) that you are referring to, nobody is going to apologize for simply sticking up for themselves.
Zakurei

Then all I see is you just bitching to bitch and trolling to troll and none of this actually affects you. This is clearly a waste of my time. I never said I celebrated the "mobbing" but hey you generalized a community you barely talk to 3 times so I'm not surprised at you telling me this. And as i mentioned before, the antagonistic behavior I referring to is simply calling a whole group mentally ill and going even further to allow others to shame whoever doesn't agree with being called mentally ill or unfit with the clearest of intent. But sure, keep playing victim over what you have done, write some damage control and screw that up with the same childish banter.

I still say that i kinda disagree with you on the 'gender isn't an spectrum' part (it's more about science advancements, and new knowledge), but in the rest i don't see much bad. And find that still quite idiot of people to just be so irrational with a mere picture on the internet, instead of trying to focus on directed harassment and violence :P

why is it always the poor persecuted trans/gay/abused/etc that are always the most idiotic when it comes down to other people's opinions? they spout their opinions and beliefs to the point that it's in your face but the second someone goes against their beliefs or opinions they come back swinging an axe.

I have always held an open mind about how people feel and act, but when it gets in MY face I don't have to agree with it... case in point, how there are people at cons who will go out of their way to promote their sexuality/fetishes/ideals to the point  that is all that you see anymore... making everyone who attends the con a part of that forced idealism to the outside world. This is where the media creams their pants against us, showing the weird and strange people at the con and expressing THEM as all of us. I have always been against this and wish there was a better role model for the fandom as a whole, since the outside world only sees them associated with us all.
Gay pride is fine... but running around in public with your bare ass sticking out or wearing something so revealing that you can see what religion you are from across the room isn't pride.. it's screaming how desperate you are for attention. The same holds true for the baby furs wearing soiled diapers in public, or the very ugly and obvious male running around in a dress and heels wearing makeup to try and hide the 5 o'clock shadow but failing miserably. these attempts to provoke attention to yourself just repels in my eyes and makes you into the stereotypical weirdo to be avoided at all costs.

May I add:

Being trans is indeed a life of transitioning due to our bodies feeling wrong as the gender one was born with. There are Male-to-female trans and female-to-male trans people. Nothing wrong with that. They need to cope with GENDER DYSPHORIA somehow. I don't know why they make up so many "genders" that are at best "gender identities", on one hand, and on the other... Just look at some of them and their description... Some of them copy one another and claim to be a separate... "Gender". Now let's see the nonbinary people... Not sure what about them. I don't think they are trans, because honestly... they do not transition anywhere. They are more like "I am not classifyable" by male or female. Tho I did see two of these, and both were very feminine women, I  still am unsure what to think of these nonbinaries, so I just say I'm skeptical.

Theres one thing that bothers Me: The pronouns... It's cool for trans people, I wouldn't be able to tell most trans people are trans if they transition well with actual effort. Then there's those who demand "gender neutral" pronouns (that are not "It"), and their pick has to be the third person plural "them" for some reason. Like... why? I admit, Hungarian language did it right. No special pronouns for men or women. We all get the same round letter: Å‘. Which is like an "O" with tho ","s on top of it. How to pronounce it? Well.. can't use the phonetic table... So You may have to meet me in person for Me to give You the big hungarian Å‘.

When I was taught what Gender was, it was a synonym for sex due to the latter's involvement with the act of sex. I mean, come on! When someone says SEX, the first thing that comes to mind is "what mom and dad, mom and mom, or dad and dad" does in the bedroom with their genitals and maybe anuses. SEX is an act most of the time. Gender on the other hand is perfect to use as an umbrella term for the words MALE and FEMALE.'

It's sad how ppl think they are the good guys when they harass someone and dont even hear their side of the story when they didn't say or do nothing evil, I agree with you on gender but not on trans.
I believe body dysmorphia can be overcomed or reduced to a harmless level, plus, conversion therapy is insanely harmful, the best thing to do is to either have surgery and hormone treatment or cope with your body and of course, have ppl accept you for who you are and not your genitals.
That does not make people who don't believe trans into monsters, yes, their opinion is shitty but i have met good people with shitty opinions and this is something SJW's have to accept

Hello there, apparently you are the biggest thing since 1939. Maybe I should include heated topics in each of the things I post as that seems to be the only way to get people to pay attention to it </3 - but I will cease my complaints since I'm not active here as I could be anyhow.

You were brought to my attention, apparently, and against my better judgement with these things I figured I would respond to you to possibly attempt at the very least to prove that there are people that can have the opposite ideology as you and not want to silence you. And therefore I'd start off with saying that I would never ask or expect you to be banned for personal beliefs unless you were maliciously attacking and harassing others, nor would I ever support a law or candidate that would limit or censor your views. I feel its needed to say this because in today's world it seems accusations of censorship and wanting to silence others are more widespread than influenza.

First off, I'd agree with you that young children shouldn't have the topic of ideology, sex, and gender brought up to them - they simply can't understand the concept of gender and before puberty there is really no need to do so. Though on that same note, sexual education at later ages would inevitably, unless it was completely horrible as is the case where I live where sexual education classes never actually talked about sexual education, lead to questions about sex, sexuality, or gender. Sexual education is important as a lot of people grow up not knowing that certain actions can result in pregnancy or the transmission of diseases. Believing in what I do I believe its mostly a personal matter what gender someone identifies as, when you are an adult, and not something society should tear itself into bloody tatters over. It doesn't really matter if the words are real or not, as long as they do not harm anyone and remain relatively productive it shouldn't draw ire - same with sexuality.

Also, I am a bit confused here - because there is sex, of course, gender as a masculine feminine gauge, and then gender as a list of expectations society has for each sex. I'm still a bit sleepy so I might be using the wrong word and getting confused in my face. But how do you feel about the roles discussion? Not the mike should be sally one, but - if Mike wants to be a nurse and sally wants to be a theoretical physicist, society should offer them the same support and motivation. I suppose that is mostly for middle school and beyond, so after puberty and likely after they have already started discovering things on their own - but it does end up overlapping with sexuality and gender as a male/female thing since it will invariably tie into that.

On the topic of calling transgender an illness, I'd be wary about doing that since most of the same people also consider homosexuality and leftism an illness. But if you are using the term illness to generally just refer to the effect it has on them, and agreeing that the cure is not torture but transition, then I would happily accept that! I believe that if you want to treat it as an illness then the cure should be accepted as helping them become the gender they desire to be, and its not like it would have to be a snap-effort either. I have a friend from another country whose healthcare system partly covers some steps/stages of transition, he got into an accident that resulted in a head injury though and was denied assistance or the ability to do so. The systems people point to are generally pretty good about not having people jump around like so many people claim.

I found the character limit. I've never hit it before.
I think the only super major issue I had when I was shown your post is that you included a line that seemed to pin all this on the left-wing. As we can clearly see from the recent election, things didn't magic better when people pretended that this issue was an ideological one. I think the major issue lies in that people are balkanized to an extreme, not in an ideological sense, but in an issue sense...if that makes sense. For example, like, a small issue gets divided between two view points, then divided again, then again. An example I used with a friend that liked mlp was that...some people on a general board make a furry site, some people from there make an mlp site, some people from there make a site dedicated to Luna, and from there to some specific aspect of Luna, and so on and so forth. You see it on both sides, small issues are brought out to extremes and communities can easily ignore one another while at the same time having the resources and motivation to make themselves puff up bigger than they actually are. The only real solution to this is to talk, and be open to the truth!

Says the fucking coward who blocked other people. You are such sad, shitty trash that doesn't hold himself to any standard of decency whatsoever.

You still don't know what bimodal distribution is and you still don't know anything about sex, gender or biology. You are not an expert on any of these topics. Your "understanding" is flawed at best and intentionally intellectually lazy and dishonest at the worst.

You are intentionally contributing to a discourse that is proven to cause people harm. You're the one playing dice, here. We already tried what you propose: denying these people and dictating for them what their lives should be. We've seen the outcome. That was the playing dice part. Now, we're going to go with fact and research over gut reactions and see how that goes, because if we at least try to alleviate someone's suffering, the attempt is at least worth more than pretending it doesn't exist.

While I may respectfully disagree with you on transgenderism being a mental illness (at least I don't believe it is in all cases), I agree with everything else you said.  I faved the pic, because I have no shame in showing where I stand.

Speaking of mental illnesses, I got ADHD, and as a man with ADHD, another point to mention about the multiple genders nonsense is the ton of play-pretend gender pronouns with more being invented every day.  Forcing people like me to remember all of that shit lest "someone's pwecious feefees are huwt" is a form of ableist discrimination, plain and simple.  Why should I, let alone atypical people, be punished for calling someone "he" or "she" instead of "zaryn", "hir" (however the hell that's pronounced), or "goo goo gaga"?  (Right, fuck you Trudeau, and fuck the Swedish government too.)

Yes, I am a classical liberal of the likes of George Carlin.  Maybe I'm considered a displaced liberal because I left the Left about a year ago and would sooner eat a bucket full of crickets than join up with the likes of the Right/Alt-Right. xD I dunno.

This is why whenever i can I push the idea that Gender and Sex are not the same thing (since they originally weren't). People want to express themselves as something else? gender. What you are biologically? Sex. This is also why you'll find BOTH on soem actual official forms. because they aren't the same thing. And it's incredibly worrying how many people confuse the two for the same thing. Which is an educational failure. Doesn't matter whose fault it is, its an obvious problem that need's to be tackled. Since the confusion of the two being synonymous is entirely why your point hold validity. If the world suddenly stopped doing so your argument would become false and flawed. heck the only reason we need tow different terms, is because of human creativity. Because the idea that one can be anything other than male or Female is a fallacy. But if you want to declare part of ones personal identity to be Rainbow, then sure, as part of PERSONAL identity, not biological identity. because Biology matters, as it allows us to measure things about ourselves that are crucial to our growth and survival.

It's concerning that such discussions are needed simply because people stopped treating two words as separate entities. Similarly with how people use the term Gay to refer to something negative while also using it to refer to homosexuals. Evolution of language is fine, but there has to be some rational behind it. These are truly troubling times we live in. Lets try not lose hope and fight the stupidity.

I don't particularly feel like responding to all of this, but I will say the following, which I think is an important addition to your thoughts about percentages:

If we take the population of the United States, 323 million, 5% of that is sixteen million people.

So what you're saying is that the populations of New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Diego don't count.

Even if you go all the way to 0.2%, which is the number in the original piece, that's roughly 650,000, which is the population of Portland, Oregon.

I guarantee you I can find a group of people you would recognize who have a smaller portion of the United States population. In fact, I already have: The populations of these cities.

I'm not going to rake you over the coals, or go over your words with a fine-tooth comb to attempt to show you every part of why your assertions about gender are quite frankly incorrect. What I would like you to do is reflect on the sheer number of people you are actually talking about. It's more people than you will ever meet, than you will ever hear of, in your entire life.

And we will continue to exist regardless of how many people claim we do not.

to be perfectly honest (to my opinion and in agreement wholeheartedly with your arguments).
if I had a dollar for every gender, I'd have two dollars. 2 dollars only, cause transexuality isn't a gender, it is a transition of such, therefore it is a boy dollar turning to a girl dollar, and vice versa.

Agreed. I tend to lash out when I'm attacked, always had a short temper, but seeking people out to be revolting towards for their opinions is always vile behaviour.  All trying to suppress an opinion does is fortify it, treating people like shit for their opinion makes them even more determined. The criticism I always get is that my cartoons are too offensive and provocative, so if I changed my attitude I wouldn't get so much shit. But the fact is, even if you're polite all the way you'll still get fucked over, like the dude who wrote the google memo. You shouldn't have contrary opinions in the first place. The more hostile the left is, the more extremists they create in opposition. If they practiced what they preached and were accepting and considerate themselves, there wouldn't be this much conflict. But because they cannot abide the existence of opposition, cannot even begin to contemplate they may actually be wrong, everything is going to shit. Social media is poisoned, media is poisoned, the fandom is poisoned. The search for ideological malcontents is endless, if they don't calm the fuck down it's only going to get much, much worse.

Okay.. i see you are completely invested in this... and your one picture is only a small bit of it..  I still think you're making a bigger deal about this than you should.  But i see there's a lot of thought in this.

A disclaimer... I personally don't believe in transsexualism... in the sense I don't believe people are not assigned to their correct sex or gender.. I see it as more of a desire than a need, as a social situation more than a biological.  With all that said.. people should be allowed to do what make them happy, even if in hindsight they're making a mistake.  If a dude wants me to consider them a chick, I'll follow all pronounce and what not... not because I believe that dude is a chick.. but it's social interaction...

You have an issue with gender as a spectrum.. and I think that's wrong.  Factually, gender can easily be a social construction that different than a person's sex... it's just rather you accept the broader view.  With the gender unicorn, it includes people sex and include a scale on how feminine and how masculine you are.... which are both just traditional bullshit we use to associate and stereotype the sexes.

With the Gender Spectrum.. it's not something push on you with people telling you what you should be... It's just a broader way to think of yourself.. are you a guy who follow the traditional pattern of a dude... or are you a guy who have a hint of girl in him.    How ever you think of yourself doesn't matter.. it's just an imaginary scale to better reflect yourself.

These more broader ideas of gender will help children be more open minded.. than narrow... with the hope the younger generation will be more open to different types of guys and girls where our generation having to fight against narrow mindedness.
