When moving to IB I thought I might try requiring a login to view stories. The thought process behind this was that maybe logged in users might comment a little more and comments are the biggest drivi...
Just to be up front, I'm not currently open for commissions and I have no idea when I will open them again. Motivation for writing stories *I* want to write is hard to come by so I don't want to set ...
I'm sure some of you have heard about what happened on SoFurry with their new AUP changes (and if you haven't, check over here ( https://www.sofurry.com/siteupdate/view?id=150 ) if you want). While I...
Interested in how I rate stories? 5 - Perfect/Excellent 4 - Above Average 3 - Average 2 - Below Average 1 - Very Poor
5/5: Reserved for stories that I am unable to find anything significant to critique. Story may still contain minor non-flow breaking errors but has good, driven plot, multi-dimensional character development and an immersive story. Aptly formatted and readable, regardless of fetish content, a 5-star story is of excellent quality.
4/5: Contains good plot and characters. I was able to get into what I was reading and it made sense. 4-star stories still have hitches or something noticeable that knocked it away from a perfect 5-star but genuine effort was put into its creation and it shows. Owners of a 4-star story should be proud of their work and look to spruce up those rough edges to get their work to the top.
3/5: This is where all stories start off when I begin reading them. A large number of the stories released are 3-star and there is nothing wrong with this rating as it just means there is room for improvement. This can be in the form of grammar mishaps, obvious spelling mistakes, harsh formatting, flat characters, 'hard-point' story telling and the like. 3-star stories are still worth reading but also worth improving upon.
2/5: A story that lacks any sort of polish or coherency. Below average stories need significant work to bring it into the realm of readability whether that be in regards to story flow, characters, major inconsistency, readability or the like. 2-star stories are, hopefully, not considered finished works in the eye of their creator and were just released as a stepping stone toward something even greater.
1/5: Stories that have little value being released to the general public are given a single star rating. I try to keep things positive but, if a story gets a 1-star rating from me its usually because there was a flow-breaking lack of consistency, I struggled to be able to even read the work or the piece was in a state that it was not worth reading (i.e. the story has little value for most people to spend their time on). 1-star works are [thankfully] rarer than 5-star.
