Removing account requirement to view stories

When moving to IB I thought I might try requiring a login to view stories. The thought process behind this was that maybe logged in users might comment a little more and comments are the biggest driving force for me to do more writing.

Unfortunately the login need does not seem to have done much in terms of encouraging comments so I've gone ahead and removed it on all my stories so they can be found and read without an account now. I do still love hearing from readers positive or constructively negative so do please free to leave me a comment if you read it. I respond to just about every comment so long as there's some sort of reply to be had :)

The unfortunate fact is that not many people comment on stories, and it's because not nearly so many read them as view drawn art.  If you need feedback, you'll need a writer's group that accepts your content, or learn to live with even your best written stories getting only a few nice, but generally unhelpful comments. I run a writer's group, you're welcome to join.

Appreciate the offer but I don't use discord. Nothing against it, I just prefer other communication avenues. It doesn't bother me if people don't comment, after all, I rarely comment on art myself (though I make it a point to comment on all stories I read). It was just an attempt to encourage additional engagement that did not pan out. I didn't have the account requirement on SoFurry and it was fine so I just removed it here as well :)

No worries.  I wish you the best of luck on getting more feedback.

I wish there was a way I could help you get more eyes on your stories. I love to comment on your stories but I'm always worried that I'll end up repeating myself a bunch - even if they really are that great to read. You deserve more many more views, comments, and favorites.

No worries my dear. Your enjoyment of them is definitely noticed and I appreciate that you take the time to add a little something ^.^

I know I don't speak for everyone here but I'm sure other are thinking the same. I just read n paw n go. I don't have that writer mind set where they can really break down the story for review.

You don't really need a writer's mindset to add a comment about what you liked and/or disliked about a piece of literature. It can take upwards of 12 hours to write, review, edit and post a story so its just nice to know people enjoyed it :)

I enjoy reading your stories but I’m sorry I don’t comment on them, I’ve read quite a few though to say the least

There's no need to be sorry, just something to keep in mind. If you like the content and want more like it, best way to encourage your artists and authors is to say so =3

Saw this as I was going through some of your stories for like, the 200th time. I found you originally back on Sofurry, before it's name changed even. I wanna say... yiffstar? The first story of yours I read was the original posting of Beware of Strangers. I see you've reposted that here too. I have been reading and deeply enjoying your writing for almost as long as I've been a furry. I don't think I have ever commented. Though I'll admit, there were times I wanted to proposition you for one of those rps.~

I happened to see this just today, and saw that you wanted comments from users as a driving force for your writing, so let me just say... don't stop! I love your writing! My own tends to be more tame outside of roleplay scenes, at least for now, and I know how it feels to struggle with that drive to write more, even when you love it. So I hope this gives you a little bit of a boost.~ For entirely selfish reasons, cause I absolutely want more.

I think part of the lack of comments might just be people not knowing what to say. Most of us are respectful enough not to assume every writer wants to hear the dirty details of how much we 'enjoyed' their work. Rest assured, however, we very much do enjoy your work Dracasis!

Well thank you for taking the time all the same! Its never too late to tell the creators you enjoy that you enjoy their content. There's no intent to try and bully peeps into commenting. I consume a lot of creative content from art to games to YouTube videos and I don't put a comment on every one I consume cause that would be exhausting. And a lot of the content I put out is the kind of stuff most people are very in the closet about so I get it from that respect too.

But in the same measure that I have a rule that I will always comment on any story I read and provide feedback of some sort cause that's what I'd like from others =3
Providing a comment is pretty easy with my format; start with something I liked about the story, provide some reasonable feedback about something that I thought could be improved (if any) and then thank the author for sharing the story. Starting with something positive sets the tone for the post, ensure the feedback is constructive and does not include blame and close out with a thank you. Even stories that don't do anything for me or I didn't really like in the end benefit from giving the creator some love ^.^

As for future works, I've no plans to stop writing at all though my time allocation to literature has been split considerably now that I am an adult with responsibilities and a decent disposable income. At present, I have three stories in que that I want to work on when the mood and time align so keep your eyes out for that!
