Totally agree. I bet Celly wouldn't mind if Chrysalis hadn't launched a full-scale assault in the first place instead of just asking for something that makes a big difference; since they can simply be there and harvest, it wouldn't affect Equestria one bit.

Of course, it's so easy to judge those who aren't like you and hate them for that. Rarely anyone tries to get into the skin of the other person and understand..

Well you did try to take over Equestria for your own reserves of love energy, attack their princesses, and ruin a wedding. Of course your gonna find resistance. Of course the other hives are a little somewhat off too with your actions.

Chrysalis has a point, but one glaring counterpoint is this: how could anypony possibly know about that? All ponies were aware of was that the changelings feed on love, not that it can cause their hatchlings to die or be born without any will of their own.

Changlings feed on love. It is implied to be their only supply of food simply by that statement, meaning the entire changeling species needs love to eat every day, to survive. It is an empire without food if it is an empire without love.
Surely, there should be some heavy effects from the starvation of an entire species. If a child is not properly nurtured in the womb, it will be born unhealthy and may have defects at birth. Likewise, it could be imagined that if a changeling is starved within its egg so early in life, it will not develop properly, and will be born with the effects of such an upbringing.
You don't take away the source of a kingom's food without predicting the consequences. War is not as simple as a quick scuffle and everyone goes back to cheery happy life when they're done for the day. This is not Celestia's fault in the slightest, but there is no way the wise and perceptive princess of a thousand year's reign didn't know what would happen to the changelings if they failed in their invasion of Canterlot. An unprovoked attack like that, one of infiltration and full-scale assault, is an action of absolute desparation.
Vavacung understands this. And now he's using it to pull at our heartstrings with the sad tale of the losers of war.

But how are the ponies to have any way to know what the effects were? All they knew was that changelings fed on love and were going to take it by force, and there was no indication that Chrysalis had asked for an audience with Celestial about the ponies helping in any way. The changelings just attacked with the intent to steal the love they wanted. It is hard to blame Chrysalis for her actions because they do need food. But at the end of the day, did the changelings try diplomacy at all?

Additionally, how do we know they didn't try? The show and comics only show us so much. What we do know is that ponies are afraid of the unknown, hence Zecora in Bridle Gossip, the treatment toward dragons in My Little Pony: Friends Forever #14, and even the nameless changeling in the latest episode, Slice of Life. Apparently he was on good enough terms with Cranky or Matilda to receive an invitation, yet all those ponies that sat near him cowered in fear three of four seats away, ponies who had likely never been to Canterlot or otherwise interacted with Changelings in anyway. So now, how do we know this wasn't how ponies have always treated Changelings? We can't know because the show nor the comics have really gone into the subject.
Closest we get is a potential backstory to where the changeling's came from and how Starswirl the Bearded is connected to them in My Little Pony: FIENDship is Magic Issue #5.
