1935. "The Eye of Providence" has been on the back side of the Great Seal of the United States since 1782. It first appeared on the dollar bill in 1935. The only reason it's on the dollar is because the US mint started putting the front and back of the Great Seal on the bills, and it happens to be on the seal.
The eye was first used by the Freemasons in 1797, but was never inside a triangle or on a pyramid for their use until the 1970s. The Freemason version of the eye also has rays of light coming directly from the eye. So, it is very unlikely that Freemasons had anything to do with it the eye being on the seal that's on the dollar. The probably got the idea for using the eye after seeing the seal.
