Honestly, I'd be concerned if he wasn't upset by this... That was complete bullshit what she did. Tho in hindsight a handjob does not a relationship make. So he is kind of wrong for assuming such so quickly or expecting such. Ah.. youth.. Rhymes with stupidity xD
Also I can relate Black I feel i have seem most of the spectrum of love, relationships, etc. to come to a conclusion that I am better off alone. although and I am sure you'd agree there are those times, those days when then longing comes back to haunt you like a ghost ...

I don't think she did anything wrong. She never really pretended to be his girlfriend, or led him on or anything. ...though she probably could've worked on her timing a bit more, letting him know that "Hey.. this is just a handjob, okay? I don't want this to get wierd."

Correct on all counts, but in the Western world today, it is highly unlikely that it would be pursued as rape with these circumstances. Reverse the genders, though, and it most certainly does happen. Certainly not every girl who regrets a sex encounter is going to turn around and call it rape... but there are a few who do, and there are enough people who take them seriously - especially in school administration - to potentially ruin the guy's academic hopes for life.

Doesn't matter, if one person claims rape against the other even if the act was originally consented to by both parties, it gets classed officially as rape. A friend of mine had this happen to him, only way he got off was because of me and a few other friends who knew the girl that tried to accuse him of rape, and had seen her practically jumping down his pants previously.

Hi Chucky.. Its Tiger.. I love the comic.. !! I was paging through the soft bounds you sent to Rabbit and now I am all caught up. I think They both need to re think what happened here. You CAN get into a moment like this, trust me!! But, there should have been some ground rules before they jumped into the pet and pop off round. Giggles.. But yeah, it is a real knot in your gut to be crossed like this.. Maybe they need to re think about this... Maybe she does not want Chucky burned about her problems.. Chucky needs to "release" some steam err other things. Maybe Chucky needs to have that, "My hand has been bit once before so I won't go that far again." mode..

Hi Tiger, nice to hear from you. Yes, you can get into a moment like this. And that's exactly what happened here, they both just kinda fell into it and it bit them back. Ironically, Chucky is the one who knows exactly what he wants, but Merry is supposed to be the more adult of the two. All it takes is for the cool head to get lost in the moment and 'bang'!

I've been there, Chucky. I was just as naive, and a friend of mine was just as bad about sending mixed signals. I didn't have a meltdown in the middle of campus, but it definitely colored my views for years to come.

Their education system is arranged differently. Primary education begins at age 5, 6, or whenever a youngster is suited to enter public school. It then lasts for 10 years, assuming you pass each year on your first try, so you graduate at around age 16. Your primary diploma indicates you've had all proper education to function in society, and grants you legal adulthood. After that it's up to the individual what they want to do. Chucky chose to go to college, so here he is at 16, all on his own, getting to make his own life decisions. Most of the other students are around his age and in the same place in life.

*sigh* As much as I agree that Chucky has a right to be thoroughly upset, he really does need to sit down with Merry and listen to what she was trying to say to him.

Heck, from the few bits she was able to get out while he boiled over at her, for all he knows from what he allowed her to say so far, she may not want to go further with him because she has AIDS or something!

I really hope that's not it. I mean, maybe she's a single mom and hasn't fessed up to that, or maybe she's just been burned too badly in a relationship before and is afraid of committing. But there is something in her past that she was having a really hard time confessing to him, and that I really think he needs to understand what that is, before he closes the chapter on their relationship or changes how he feels about girls in general.

Hmm my guess, she's a nympho and doesn't want to give the wrong idea to Chucky, whom she has a crush on. Either that, or she is insecure about her age/smarts/both, and feels undeserving of Chucky. Either way, I'm hoping to see both of them talk this out more once they calm down, especially Chucky, even with his distrust, he should give her the chance to fully explain. And she needs to explain better, so he can truly understand.

I'm sorry for both of them..
Merry really should've think about the consequences of her actions before he got into Chucky's bed, because one may think about it as a casual thing, but other may fall in love from even a little kiss on the cheek.
And Chucky is a second type. Tho, I bet Merry had some pityful experiences in her previous relationships as well. Yet it seemse she stepped on the same rake twice - wishing to not make the same mistake as before, she did even worst.
Chucky is on other hand.. I could relate his case to my own. I was all rmantic and innocent before, trying to be a gentleman for my ladies and for any other girl that I liked so far. Unfortunately, my act had little to no effect on girls, but not on their mothers. So I got a girlfriend, forced by her mom to date me, because I was a "good party", been thinking that she loves me for 2 years, just to figure out that she stayed with me, just to get nice presents and go out to have fun. She broke my heart and my "gentle side", as well as desire to go out and search for a girlfriend.
Many hugs to you, Chucky and Merry. I wish them to work throught that missunderstanding and be more than friends with benefits.

the way i see it, both are a bit in the wrong. Merry for not laying out how she feels for him in black in white and sending a mixed signal. (us guys be thick headed, we need things laid out on the table to understand it), and Chuck, for assuming too soon, and then over reacting about it. hopefully they see the light and try again. they were a cute couple.(ish)

To be fair Chucky does make a point about what she did. She did indeed use him, and she did lead him on by not telling him straight out the night before that it was pretty much a little fling.

And she's just realized how much damage she's done to him.

A fair bit of it is, although not directly. I haven't had this EXACT situation happen to me, but I've been through similar situations. I just took those similar situations and wrapped them into the events that happened over the last several pages.

I feel bad for him. I'm more inclined to forgive him his naiveté. Life will cure it. Using people, on the other hand, is NOT self correcting. Putting someone at risk for your benefit is the opposite of caring.

I just want to say that I really like your comic. It's... different. All the characters are very (for lack of a better word) human.

Chucky is young, naive, and a bit self-centered. Merry is older and has definitely been through some shit. Nothing she did was malicious and I think he'll eventually realize that, but I imagine this is going to severely hurt their friendship.

Welcome to the REAL world Chucky. It may be hard for you to believe but this, right here, will help you in life more than you can ever know. It's gonna hurt..hurt BAD..but THIS part is over. Now you can start your REAL education,and though you're gonna have sadly more situations like this none of them will ever tear your guts out so wrong..but none will EVER hurt as bad or teach you so much so quick.
This is also a turning point for you, so make your next decisions carefully or you could easily end up going down a very dark path. And that would be not good. I cannot WAIT to see what happens next, to BOTH of them!

Is it any wonder why even though this is a slice of life story *and I generally HATE slice of life stories* this is my favorite comic story right now? :D

I had to walk away before I posted this comment. I never thought a comic page could reopen such an old wound.

I have literally stood in Chucky's shoes here only the girl seemed to show no remorse for what she had done. Ever since that day I would trust a cobra over a woman. When I found out how I had been played and for such a feeble reason, I was devastated. Every girl after that has proven that they seem to have some kind of agenda rather than have any feelings.
I'm sure that there will be women out there that'll accuse me of judging the whole gender off of the actions of one or two women, but the truth is EVERY woman I've dated or been friends with has shown to only have agendas and no real love or kinship. (Yes I've dated several and they've all just been fucking vampires.)

To this day I feel no pitty or sympathy when I hear about a woman being beaten, raped, or murdered. I treat my female friends civilly, but I will not help them in any way if I feel it will put me at a disadvantage or give them an upper hand over me. Women have proven time and time again that they only use men and that they are VERY skilled at giving the illusion of love. Personally I think they aren't capable of feeling love. Just finding a guy they can use till they find something better to leech off of.

Sorry for the rant, but this page really brought back some bad days from my past. That means you are an AWESOME story teller!! Keep up the awesome work!

No judgment here, just that...I hope Merry realizes at least now that Chucky wants a bit more. He's not looking for a bit of 'fun', the youngster he may be; but at least mature enough to attempt a relationship.

I don't know if this can be repaired, but at least I hope there's hope to keep poor Chucky from resenting women. I've seen that state of mind turn a decent guy into a real heel. In the end, poor Chucky AND poor Merry.

I had to go back and re-read a few pages, I knew I was missing something. That sixth panel, I'd totally just stop, "Oh? What kind of problems? If it's getting in the way, it must be something." I can so picture the whole 'oh, it's nothing.' or 'I don't want to worry you.' That's where I'd say "If you ever want to talk, I'm willing to listen." I'm just wondering how long before we find out.
