For this commission I was given the direction of the Redwall TV series. For anyone that knows me, that's a treat. I've loved Redwall for like 25 years lol I remember how difficult it was to watch the series on cable when I was a kid, as it never aired on any of the channels I had at the time, but years later in my late teens, I got the DVD as a birthday present, and I drew some pics of the characters. This was back in 2007 and I don't think i've drawn characters or that style since. What's strange is that while I was trying to match the style of the show, this really isn't that different from my natural style haha! (That or I just failed to capture the look of the show, which is equally-likely.)
Either way, I like how it came out, and I hope you all enjoy~
To be honest, I wouldn't know about the Redwall style; I only knew of Redwall because of the books, I think I may even had one or two years ago, but I had no idea there was an animated series as well. Still, whether or not you fully managed or failed to capture that style, I definitely have to say your style is adorable and very well fits these kind of semi-anthro characters!
*chuckles* And 'feisty' is definitely right... it's always the small ones who have the biggest capabilities! >^_^<

Thankya! Yeah the show is definitely held back by being a 'kids' cartoon' in season 1, but they get away with a little more after that. The books have a ton of fighting and death and everything as you know, and while it's mostly done off-screen in the cartoon, at least they let it happen. It's a fun watch though if you get the chance and don't take anything too seriously. I believe it covers three books: Redwall, Mattimeo and Martin the Warrior. iirc there was plans to do more, but it was cancelled after that. (Then ofc there was Netflix who was gonna do something, but they just sat on it for years and now it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. :/ Literal gold mine IP if it's done right, but studios don't wanna take the risk I guess.)

Ah, there she is. Best girl! While not the main protagonist, she’s definitely my favorite of the “main three” to write ^^ Just so much fun! Plus a lot of depth for someone who appears pretty much one-note at first.
Anyway, she’s adorable here! Though, she’d probably snarl at me for thinking that :3 I love the faces of 1 and 3. I think 5’s face looks the most “Redwallish” out of them. And the body in that one has such an appealing shape ^^
Thank you for taking this on. I intend on getting some of the others at some point as well. Don’t know when, though.
…Now I just hope people will want to read the story TwT

Thank you!! (Yeah but the tsundere ones are the cutest. It's their own fault. v.v) Agreed, I think I got a better handle on it by pose 5, trying to nail a style always takes a bit of practice lol!
Thanks for trusting me with her! I hope I was able to capture the image you had in your head~
Good to know! ^^ Thank you!! (Yeah but the tsundere ones are the cutest. It's their own fault. v.v)
I wouldn't know Redwall if it bit me*, but you can't go wrong with a fiery lil vixen wtih a sword as big as she is! It's quite an interesting style, too, and however close it may or may not come to the mark she looks really cute.
I especially like the pose on the bottom left. Seems to me that's when you run!
*I mean, I kinda know the broad strokes, but I was always too busy reading Ray Bradbury and Peter Beagle as a kid to read that.

Haha thanks! I recommend the books for sure. I always tell people that while not like... super-accurate, it's kinda like Lord of the Rings, but all of the different races are woodland critters like mice, hedgehogs, badgers, rats etc. Though since you mentioned knowing the broad strokes, that's likely similar to what you know or have heard haha!
Show's decent too, but def intended for a bit of a younger audience. Still good tho.

Redwall came across me via a church friend in the middle of the like..six month period of my mid teens before I gained access to the net and a causal search (Because 'foxes on two legs' was unique enough and search had no filter and no one monitoring it for those first early years AOL hit), It was my crack. Brutal, unforgiving bloody battles in a world that at first seemed to have been left behind by humans, but by the third, it was clear that humans had never been there, though their were clear anthro and 'feral' animals. A focus on animal heroes, storytellers, flaws and outright serious mental issues among the animals seen to be the strongest in the world, but almost all of them died early over that.
It displayed real dangerous villains, sometimes multiple ones who almost always though lack of self-awareness, or simply unable to resist the urge to betray the wrong people and they just pay for it. You almost always do at some point.
However, what wore it out for me was the same message repeating multiple times. And foxes, cats, wolves, rats etc were always the shameful murderous villeins over and over, to the point of being racism. It was quite brit thinking. And the stories were, save for three, always the same thing, but further down the timeline. So I got bored and dropped them and by that time I had 14 of em.

Oh Redwall was SO brutal at times, I was hoping Netflix would tap into that a bit when they announced they acquired the rights or w/e but... then did nothing with it. :/
I first started reading it when I randomly went to the library during recess in middle school. Was looking for a book to borrow, saw the cover of Taggerung with an otter on the front, and was like "Yo this is my kind of story!" I saw on the first few pages that they listed all of the books in order, saw Mossflower was the first one, and grabbed that one. I was off to the races. I'd end up buying every single book after that, feeling absolutely crushed when Brian passed away, but still carrying on loving Redwall ever since.
I do get what you mean about wanting some variety in the species. It's one of the reasons Outcast of Redwall is my favorite book. It sorta tackled that. I understand getting bored of the formula, but for me, it was like Redwall Abbey itself: a familiar place, a familiar land, a familiar story to go back to. When one book ended, and I was sad to go, sad to leave these characters, there was always that message at the end about Redwall's doors always being open should I need it. ;w;
There are some games you should play if you're interested. The Scout Anthology on Steam touches on that subject of certain species being 'bad' too. Game's a bit on the janky side at times, but it's cute overall.

Uhhh hm. I'm noticing it's a bit rare, apparently haha! Seems it can still be ordered some websites, but not as easy as just getting it off amazon, unfortunately.
I'm sure you could watch it online as well. There's some decent quality uploads on this channel.
