Anyway. All the cooking videos I've seen. The only part of an orange that is inedible waste is the white pith. The flesh is largely tasteless when you extract the juices.

Not that it's inherently unhealthy, but when you remove the fiber from the sugar it can spike your blood-sugar in a way that's bad for you. As long as you're eating something with it, preferably something high in fiber or something, or pacing yourself you're fine.

yesnt Like you can drink the juice of 5 Oranges with no problem and feeling less full then eating 5 Oranges. And with this its way more likely to consume more. Its the same with smoothies actually since Our body can absorb the sugars and so more easly when its just fruit. So there is a actual difference even if the juice of one orange is equal to one orange

Because I was sarcastically mocking those who believe that, as evidenced by the witch character in this comic strip calling it a "transmutation spell", implying that an unnatural transformation had to take place to get from orange juice to unhealthy sugar water.

You can actually change nutrition profiles of fruits'n'veggies just by how they're processed, yes. Heat it up, lose some vitamin C, just at the most basic level.

Story time, during my country's latest war, my grandmother who was a kid at a time was tasked with bringing an orange to some family member who was sick. She was so hungry that when she arrived, she had already eaten all the peel, keeping the juicy part untouched for her family member.

Well, it's unhealthy sugar water just if you're not also eating the fiber, which slows down the absorption of sugar (both in the stomach and by making you swallow it more slowly) and gives you more feeling of satiety, which means you don't drink several glasses (some people drink whole 1-liter bottles in half a day).

Also, the only part of the orange you can't eat is the white part, because before doing anything with them I grate them until they are white, since that is perfect for flavoring the cups of oatmeal with milk of every morning and any dessert or cake. But you're right that if you already cut them, or smashed in pieces like in the picture XD, you can't grate them anymore... but you can still dry those peels in the sun to use them in tea D:

I'm not sure about Oranges but I know the reason Apples whole are healthier than just the juice. The stuff in the flesh helps you break down and absorb the sugar slower for more efficient burning of it rather than just dumping it all in you at once. That way your body doesn't convert as much of it to storage.
Also, Bats are cute ^,^

Ironically, we've actually kind of done this. Human breeding has made fruits so high in sugar that you can't feed them to animals anymore. Zoos have to have their own separate species of fruit trees in order to prevent the animals from getting diabetes or obese.

Well, not to that extent. However, fiber in fruit greatly slows down sugar processing (might vary between fruits), so whole fruit is generally considered healthier than juice for some diets.

I think the biggest issue with orange juice (or any juice for that matter) is the processing done for the packaged stuff on store shelves. Most of the heat treatments to make them shelf stable destroys most nutrition, which is then replaced with cheaper alternatives that absorb worse and a lot of extra sugar. A lot of people also seem to think juice is better than soda in preventing kidney stones, which isn't the case either. So personally I think it's a game of telephone kind of situation, lot's of small snippets of truth slowly changing as they're shared from person to person.
