This was a blatant last minute submission to make the May deadline. So there. I submitted a new piece of art drawn by me for the month of May for this years Art Calendar. Phew!

The Story goes as follows. Dot befriends a mother Kangaroo looking for her "missing Joey". Dot goes out one night on her own to find the missing Joey and explains the situation to some Koala's. A little bunny overhears and decides to impersonate the missing roo. When Dot points out the obvious, that a Joey is a baby kangaroo, he looks himself over trying to pretend to be oblivious to being a rabbit, but eventually says "So what" in regards to his appearance. At this point Dot says he's "Very funny" and says she will call him "Funny Bunny". He responds "Maybe I do look a bit like a rabbit. Go ahead, make fun of me, see if I care".
He then goes through increasingly desperate lengths to alter his appearance to fool the girl into thinking he's not "Funny Bunny" but the "baby joey", over and over again, going so far as to act like he doesn't know her being surprised to find a "little girl" in the woods (just like when he first met her). When his ruse fails Dot points out some way he's still not like a kangaroo, which only causes him to find some other way to augment his appearance and abilities to be more roo-like.

In the end we learn the reason Funny Bunny is so desperate to impersonate the missing joey, is because he's an orphan and wants to be adopted by the mother kangaroo. His parents were shot and he's all alone. He also doesn't seem to want to be a bunny because bunnies are weak and die after all. Perhaps Kangaroos seem stronger by comparison. In the end he laments his fate but accepts being a rabbit, saying "When you are born a bunny, you just have to stay a bunny ... but really, is there anything wrong with being a bunny? I suppose not", only for the mother kangaroo to pretend that he is her missing baby joey to cheer him up and give him a home.

The character is effeminate, silly, charming, a little bit brash and rude, and tragic all at once. I saw this movie a while back at
mention of the film. I thought the character was cute and I definitely have sympathy for them. Chip also drew the character here. As far as I know me and Chip are the only one's with fanart of this character on IB.
I drew them partly as an artistic exercise to learn a bit from their design and mannerisms. (There were plenty more effeminate poses they strike throughout the movie I could have used, and I might at some future date, but for now this will suffice).
The film itself is a composite of live footage overlayed with crude cartoon drawings loosely animated. None the less I think it is charming in it's way. The main song "The Kangaroo that never grew", is also very catchy.
