This is Funny Bunny from Yoram Gross's 'Dot and the Bunny'. I've drawn Bunny before, but this is his first One-Cent ACEO appearance.
I had to change this drawing a few times because I drew Bunny a bit too tall (from ears to toes, he almost touches the top and bottom borders of this card). Consequently, I couldn't draw Bunny's ears upright and tied together as they are in the film, as doing so would add too much height. So, I just drew the ears (roughly) as they appeared in my reference, making this pose only semi-original.
Anyway, why have I drawn Funny Bunny for the Halloween season?
Halloween is partly about costumes, and Funny Bunny's thing is he lives in one ...kinda, anyway.
See, Funny Bunny wants to be a kangaroo joey, so he has to look the part. I'm unsure how his disguise consisting of a bundle of hay and a loin cloth achieves this, but what do I know? :p
Because Bunny's parents were shot by hunters (*Australia hates rabbits), Bunny begins the movie in search of a new family. Bunny heard through a conversation with Dot (a human girl) and a mother kangaroo that the latter's joey was missing. Funny Bunny took this as an opportunity to get himself adopted ...by impersonating the lost joey (which is wrong on many levels). :p
Again, Funny Bunny goes through the movie trying to convince Dot that he's the lost joey, hoping Dot will take him to the kangaroo mother. Dot, of course, is more interested in finding the real lost joey, but allows Funny Bunny to tag along. At some point along the way, Dot references the Malayan Emergency (a real-life war) ...which triggers Funny Bunny, and leads to a moment between the two (it's a strange scene).
The whole story's kinda messed-up, really ...but I like this movie! XD
I was (and may still) re-view this movie, but now is not the time! D:
Pencil...
The featured pencil is the 'Classic' 1350 model from Columbia P&C Company.
Columbia P&C is an Australian manufacturer of art and stationery tools. Columbia's been around a while (since the late 1910's) and is still active today. :3
I dunno much more than that. ^^
As for this pencil, it is not sharpened and will remain that way. :3
I drew Funny Bunny via my Wallace 'Zephyr' and delineated him via a 'Twenty Grand' pencil. :3
What an odd little movie. It was surprisingly entertaining and cute. The simple animation and grainy footage worked surprisingly well together. There were a few moments where the movie caught me off guard. Who'd have expected a birthing scene or war being discussed in a movie like this? 6/10.
