Background/History

Asiy translates to "smile / or to laugh with Joy" in Incan

Originally from a tribe of highland Mightyena, Asiy was captured from a Bone Eater raid and was taken back to their home in the rocky cliffs where she would be subjugated to live out the rest of her life as. A fate that was unknowingly for Asiy, worse than death.

Failed Escape: Asiy was only 6 years old when she was captured. When she turned 10 she attempted to flee the highlands but was caught by Karambit, who at the time saw Asiy as nothing else than a fleeing slave. Karambit didn't know at the time what fate awaited Asiy, had she known she would have let the girl escape.

Freedom: After Skewer's death, Karambit freed all those who had been forced into his harem. Among them was Asiy, one of the most battered and broken of his wives. Seeing the depth of her suffering, Karambit took pity on her, understanding the horrors she endured under the tyrant's reign. Aware that Asiy couldn’t hope to survive on her own due to her fragile condition, Karambit made it her personal mission to oversee Asiy's recovery.

When Asiy finally began to comprehend Karambit’s heartfelt apologies, she found herself unable to respond with any kindness. Though Skewer was gone, the trauma he inflicted still shackled her voice. Karambit continued to visit her regularly, monitoring her progress. However, it wasn’t until she brought Dirk with her one day that she glimpsed the spark of Asiy's true self. Watching Asiy play with the child seemed to awaken a part of her that had been long buried, bringing a flicker of life back to her spirit.

Asiy began to cherish Dirk's visits, finding solace and joy in his innocent presence. His laughter and playful nature seemed to chip away at the walls of her pain, offering her a glimmer of hope she hadn’t felt in years. Through these moments, Asiy finally began to move beyond her regressive trauma, reclaiming pieces of herself that she thought were lost forever.

Mother's Instinct: During one of Karambit's visits to Asiy, an assassin sent by a rival tribe struck. Karambit, ever vigilant, swiftly dispatched the attacker who lunged at her. However, in her single-eyed focus, she failed to notice a second assassin creeping toward Dirk. The moment the assailant grabbed the boy, something deep within Asiy snapped.

When Karambit turned toward the once-muted woman, she saw a vision of unbridled fury—Asiy had torn the assassin asunder with her bare hands. Bloodied but unrelenting, Asiy held Dirk close, clutching him as though her very soul depended on his survival. A knife jutted from her shoulder, but she paid it no mind, her sole focus on shielding the child who had reignited the light within her.

Note: It is possible that Asiy may have bore Skewer children, but Skewer may not of found them worthy of keeping.

Note: Due to mistreatment by Skewer, Asiy has lost her ability to speak, she uses a crude form of sign language to communicate that is only understood by Dirk. She does have the ability to laugh giving her name meaning still.

Note: Asiy is Dirk's caretaker and bodyguard.
