Character Description

Koalani, also known as Kiko, is a unique shark subtype of Vaporeon. Born near the Fuchsia Safari Zones as an Eevee hybrid, she appeared ordinary in size, strength, and ability. However, a hidden genetic trait surfaced when she evolved into a Vaporeon, setting her apart from the rest.

Note: Kiko has fully embraced the Chromas as her pack, and the women in the group adore her. They appreciate her genuine, sweet, and kind nature, and many sympathize with her struggles stemming from her rare condition.

Note: Kiko is dualistic and the definition of a hard exterior with a soft center but unfortunately she is cursed by her mutation to be an exceptionally good muscle and enforcer.

Note: Although she has a custom-made Harley chopper designed to accommodate her size and knows how to ride, Kiko prefers four-wheeled vehicles. Her quick reflexes and skill on wet and dirt tracks have cemented her as a top-tier racer, upholding the Chromas’ reputation for excellence in racing—even on four wheels.

Background/History

The second mental shift in Koalani was her heightened susceptibility to frenzy, particularly when exposed to the scent of blood—whether from animals, humans, or hybrids. The keen sense of smell and sixth sense overlapping, tripping some unknown mental wiring in her head. Over time, she developed some tolerance, but the risk remained. Additionally, whenever she perceived her pack or family to be in danger, she could instantly become feral and uncontrollable, driven purely by instinct. This primal transformation, a result of her rare mutation, has been a constant struggle for Koalani. At her core, she is compassionate and wishes no harm upon those she cares for, but her animalistic instincts often compel her to act with brutal savagery, creating a deep internal conflict.

Koalani's transformation ultimately led to her being outcast and ostracized by her original tribe. Left to fend for herself, she often endured isolation within the Safari Zone, with only a few individuals making occasional efforts to stay in contact. Despite this, Koalani thrived in survival, her primal, bestial instincts proving invaluable. It wasn’t long before she managed to escape the area of her birth, navigating the vast network of tunnels that stretched from her home to the open seas of Kanto.

The date of the incident is unknown but, Koalani was kidnapped by Team Aqua and taken into the city. There, she endured brutal abuse as the organization attempted to break her spirit and subjugate her. However, her primal, beast-like instincts resisted fiercely, which only escalated the severity of her punishments and torture. After about a year of relentless suffering, Koalani finally managed to escape again—this time successfully. The scars from this ordeal remain, hidden beneath her fur but clearly visible when she is wet.

Her escape was partly thanks to a young Glaceon named Ashlee "Lee" Sharpe, who helped her find safety and a foothold in society. However, traveling the open roads was too dangerous for Koalani, and Ashlee lacked the resources to return her to her home. Despite Ashlee’s attempts to foster Koalani's independence, Koalani became deeply attached to her, seeing Ashlee as an older sister figure—even though Ashlee was likely younger. This bond made it difficult for either of them to live independently from the other.

Thankfully, Ashlee and Kiko (a nickname given by Ashlee that quickly stuck) share a strong bond and get along wonderfully. Ashlee, with her patient demeanor, has come to view Kiko as her younger sister. Thanks to her own calculating nature, Ashlee knows when and how to “let the monster out” in controlled situations. She has also been instrumental in helping Koalani adjust to society and manage her primal instincts more effectively.

One would look at her and assume she was a Gyarados but her appearance has a much more interesting formation. When Koalani, a teenage Eevee, she reached the strength needed to choose an evolution stone. She felt an undeniable pull toward a Water Stone. Upon evolving into a Vaporeon, she emerged looking strikingly different from her tribal brothers and sisters. Koalani had transformed into a rare shark-like Vaporeon but not by the normal means.

Kiko became the enforcer the Chromas needed to maintain their place in the world. While she was the only member of the group not racing on the pro circuit due to her size, Kiko remained heavily involved in motorsport. She was just as often seen on four wheels as two, and rode a custom-made Harley chopper designed specifically for larger species like herself.

When Ashlee joined the Chromas, it was only a matter of time before Koalani followed. She quickly found her place as an enforcer for the growing gang, contributing significantly to their intimidation factor. With guidance from Fuse/Peach, Kiko explored motorsport racing. While motorcycles proved too small for her, she excelled in four-wheel racing, particularly in destruction derbies and dirt track events.

Chromas Bike Gang (Holly, Darla, Bailey, Rose, Gisella, Ashlee, Carmella, Peach)

The Chromas gang is a legitimate racing team of mainly Hybrids that has a suspected second darker side to them on the streets of the city.

The most violent and ruthless of the group (in no order) would be Rose, Kiko (not her desire, but is in her nature), Holly Halo and Bailey; while Rocket and Darlin (though she might make you wish for death, has a small sadistic streak that can come to the fore) are the most patient of the crew.

Body

Large Claws with finned fingers, muscular body, thick blubbery fur that separates in water to create larger fins, finned tail, large frame, finned neck crest, retractable dorsal fin, and large scuted ears.
Kiko's fur clumps when dried, forming what looks like hardened scales but is actually due to her hair matting due to hydrophobic alignment.
Due to her lineage she has a high tolerance to sub-zero temperatures, making her exceptionally well at deep and arctic waters. Long Silver Hair and Black Eyes

It was then revealed that her father was an Alolan Sandslash, and the uncommon pairing, combined with the Sandslash line's tendency for more ferocious traits, manifested fully in Kiko's evolved form. The large quills of the Sandslash lineage mixed with large fins of the Vaporeon species blended together in an alarming way, stretching her rounded fins into jagged spines and enlarging her what should of been slender finned hands into massive sail fins. The clear blue eyes of a Vaporeon replaced with the jet black eyes of a Sandslash, a trait meant for the darkest of biomes. Kiko's graceful form was replaced with that of a sea monster of the darkest depths of the Great River. What was even more alarming is her evolution came with a growth spurt, sporting increased muscle mass and putting her new height an average of 2 feet higher than her kin.

The rare shark-like traits of Kiko’s Vaporeon form extended beyond her physical appearance to her mental processes. While she wasn’t unintelligent, her neural pathways seemed simplified, making complex or abstract thought much more challenging without significant effort. For instance, if asked to fetch firewood, she might bring back large, uncut branches and attempt to use them as-is, reasoning that they would still burn. She tended to take the most straightforward path from A to B. Nuances or additional complexities had to be explicitly communicated. Although she could learn and adapt, the process was notably slower than before.
