"A huge discovery"

You swim through a deep underwater ruin with just the air held in your strong lungs, your draconic endurance letting you hold your breath for nearly half an hour. 8 minutes after your last inhale, you come to a large chamber, a shining sphere on a tall pedestal. Swimming to get a closer look at the sphere, you put a hand on it... And realize it's a huge pearl! Your mouth drops open in surprise, bubbles floating past both your face and that of your reflection in the pearl. You'd certainly be set for life if you found someone willing to buy this, but that begs the question...

How the hell are you gonna carry this thing?

squirtlerocks07 and I did an RP based on this.

S: on a deep dive one day, a dragon was found face to face with an absolutely humongous pearl in a cave! It was so big it was bigger then it's own head! They weren't sure how they were gonna pick this giant thing up... nearby, the dragon can hear somebody whimpering, a dragonite wearing a pair of goggles and nervously look around the place with bubbles escaping them, not noticing the dragon or the pearl

L: The dragon isn't sure what to make of the dragonite at first... "...Hblellblo?" He gets himself ready to defend the pearl, just in case...

S: "H-hbluh?" the dragonite turns to the dragon, his face is fully red as he's been down here for a while, you can tell by his face he means no harm and is very scared and nervous

L: "Arble yoblu loblst? Ibl knblow thble wably bablck oubltsiblde." The dragon gestures toward the exit.

S: the dragonite shakes his head, he's not lost...he's just really nervous about being this far down underwater, he swims away from the dragon, trying to take his mind off the nervousness, but it's slowly consuming him

L: The dragon looks back at the pearl. There's no way he'll be able to move it on his own... He looks at the dragonite again. "Cobluld yoblu hblelp mble wiblth thblis?"

S: the dragonite stops again and turns back around, covering his mouth with a hand as he whines

"H-h-hblelp wiblth whblat?"

L: "Thblis peblarlbl's toblo biblg foblr mble tblo moblve iblt." The dragon gestures to the pearl. "I cobluld spblit thble moblney wiblth yoblu, iblf yoblu nebled mble tblo?"

S: "Thblat...wblould be niblce...b-bublt I rbleally nebled aiblr!" the dragonite covers his mouth with both hands, clearly not the best breath holder

L: "Ybl-yeblah, wble shbloulbld geblt aiblr fiblrst!" The dragon hops off the bottom and looks around, hoping there'll be a nearby air source that he hasn't noticed.

S: the dragonite follows the dragon close behind, looking around for an air pocket that's close by

L: After about a minute of searching, the dragon finds an air pocket he'd missed on the way in. He points it out to the dragonite, and swims up into it to breathe.

S: the dragonite quickly swims up into it to breathe, gasping for air heavily
"Phew...close one"

L: "I'm glad I'm so good at holding my breath... So, did you come here to explore too? You're pretty brave, coming this far in..."

S: "Y-yeah, I've never done any sort of adventuring like this, I've always been the shyest dragonite alive... I finally decided to have some excitement by doing this... I just learned how to swim today...so I'm brand new to all this..."

L: "Man, this is really not the place for one of your first dives... You probably shouldn't stick around in this cave a whole lot longer, just in case..."

S: "Yeah...I was definitely feeling adventurous for the first time in my life, so I had to make the most of it, I didn't realize how dangerous it could be tho..."

L: "Yeah, even I've been pushed pretty far in the past. I'd like your help with getting that huge pearl out of here, but after that I think you might want to find a less dangerous way of exploring underwater."

S: "Well, I guess I could help you out... and yeah, I don't really have any friends so I didn't really know at first if this path was dangerous or not... although...now I'm not sure if I can go back under after being so low on air...I suck at this"

L: "You don't want to dive again? How exactly are you going to be getting out of here, then?"

S: "Oh....I didn't think about that... dang it!" the dragonite sighs heavily "Welp, I'm screwed then..."

L: "No you're not! You came this far, obviously you'll be able to do it again, especially since you know the layout of this place now!"

S: "Heh...well, I don't have the greatest memory skills, so I probably forgot most of it... so either way I'm screwed"

L: "Well, I'm more used to exploring underwater, and I know the way back. I'm certain I can get us both out without any issues."

S: "It's rough having to hold your breath underwater, I've never had to in my whole life... and that's why I'm breath holding record is so low..."

L: "Right, that's probably a lot different from mine. I can handle about 18 minutes, what about you?"

S: "18 minutes?! Lucky... well, after some brief training I got up to 4 minutes, not the greatest..."

L: "Jeez, really? I guess I could probably give you some of my air on the way if you need it, we'd just have to find some indents on the ceiling for me to exhale into. Still, this might be rough for both of us..."

S: "It's not worth it! I'm just gonna stay right here where it's dry...gonna live in this air pocket...I won't survive down there!" he doesn't know that an air pocket will run out

L: "You won't survive in here either, air pockets get used up eventually! As much as you're not gonna like it, you have to do this!"

S: "Awwwww come on!" the dragonite rolls his eyes "Cant believe this... maybe...I have to then...ugh"

L: "I'll do my best to make it easier for you. You can skip out on helping me with that pearl as well if you want, I can probably find a way on my own."

S: "...no, if I go under I'm still gonna help you, maybe knowing you'll spilt the money with me will give me some kind of motivation..."

L: "That's a good point, actually... And that thing's probably gonna be worth a LOT, we're both gonna be ending up rich from it!"

S: "Y-yeah! And that money would help me out sooo much! I can't turn down being rich!"

L: "Neither can I! Come on, you can do this, it's gonna make this whole trip worth it for you!"

S: "Oh man...this is so hard...fine fine, ill do it!"

L: "Alright then! Get some deep breaths, and hopefully this won't be taking more than a couple dives." The dragon starts deeply breathing to get ready.

S: "Deep....breathes?" it seems the dragonite doesn't understand what the dragon ment by that

L: "Yeah, if you do deep breathing like this for a while before you hold your breath, it lets you last longer than normal!"

S: "Really?? Huh, I never knew that... wish I could have known that sooner...alright I'll try it" the dragonite starts to take some deep breathes

L: "Yep, just like that." The dragon keeps going with them for a little while. "Alright, we should be physically ready by now. Feel like it's time to get started?"

S: "I don't know...I'm physically ready, but I don't know if I'm mentally ready for this"

L: "Well, let's just hope for the best..." The dragon holds one more breath and dives, hoping the dragonite will too.

S: the dragonite was very very hesitant and he didn't dive for a while, delaying the plunge longer then he should

L: Soon, the dragon returns to the surface. "You're still too scared to dive, aren't you?"

S: "Y-yeah... I don't know if I can be brave and go back down..."

L: "Yes you can! You're gonna have to, that's the only way you'll be getting out of this cave!"

S: "Ugh, I need to snap of it! I could be rich dang it!" the dragonite slaps himself in the face "Get ahold of yourself!"

L: "Just hang in there, you can do this!" The dragon gives the dragonite a hug.

S: the dragonite hugs the dragon back tightly
"This is gonna be one of the most tough challenges in my life, I've gotta face this fear! Especially because your here by my side!"

L: "And hey, getting all that money should be a pretty good reward for overcoming your fear, huh?"

S: "Yeah! I think it would be a pretty good reward! I can't turn this down! Maybe we should go under at the same time so I don't get as scared"

L: "I think that'll help, yeah. Let's get ready again, then we'll do that." The dragon starts preparing again.

S: "Ok!" the dragonite gets ready too, hoping he'll be able to dive under this time

L: After a little while longer, it's time. "Alright, let's do this. 3, 2, 1!" The dragon dives again.

S: the dragonite takes the deepest breath he could and dives under with the dragon this time!

L: The dragon smiles and nods at the dragonite, before starting to lead the way back toward the pearl.

S: the dragonite follows them closely behind, letting out some bubbles as their face is already a very tiny bit red

L: Before too long, the two get back to the pearl. The dragon gets in position to push it, intending on rolling it along the bottom for now, and gestures for the dragonite to help out.

S: the dragonite saw what the dragon was trying to do, getting into the same position so he can help push it

L: With a fair bit of effort from both of them, they manage to get the pearl moving! The dragon wags his tail a little as he keeps the pearl moving toward the exit.

S: the dragonite does too, but his face turns more red as more bubbles escape him from the effort of pushing the pearl

L: The dragon looks over at the dragonite every now and then as they go, making sure they're still alright.

S: eventually the dragonite's face turns fully red and he starts to whine again, covering his mouth with a hand and pushing the pearl with the other one

L: Progress is slower with the dragonite only using one hand, and the dragon gives them a look of concern. "Nebled abl brbleak foblr aiblr?"

S: the dragonite nods eagerly, he really does need to breathe and proof he's a bad breath holder

L: The pearl is on a bit of an upward slope right now, so they can't just leave it without losing progress... But, the dragon happens to be under a good spot to make an air pocket. "Fobllow mbly bublblebls ublp, yoblu'll ble able tblo brbleatblhe thblem ablt thble cebliliblng." He exhales some more, and the bubbles pool up to make a small but usable air pocket.

S: the dragonite nods and then he sticks his head up into the air pocket, gasping for breath...it barely fits his whole head, but it's manageable, he stays up there for quite a while

L: "Mmm!" The dragon taps a claw against the pearl a few times, trying to get the dragonite's attention so they head back down. He's beginning to blush a little from having so little air in him.

S: but the dragonite never noticed with how focused they are at the air pocket, they get so caught up getting the air they forgot about the pearl and the dragon for a brief moment or two

L: Accepting that it can't be helped, the dragon jumps off the bottom to tap the dragonite a couple times, whining in frustration as he watches the pearl begin to roll back.

S: noticing the taps, the dragonite's eyes go wide
"Oh whoops! Sorry!" he quickly gasps a deep breath and dives back underwater, catching the pearl in his arms before it could roll back and pushing against it

L: The dragon breathes the remaining air back in, his blush fading away, and he swims down to rejoin the dragonite and get back to pushing.

S: the dragonite blushes a bit embarrassingly as he helps to push the pearl again
"Soblrry..."

L: "Itbl's alblrigblht, shbloulbld've exblpecblted thblat..." The dragon tries to speed up a little, hoping that he won't have to make another air pocket like that.

S: the dragonite tries to speed up a bit as well, pushing the pearl with all his strength while letting a lot of bubbles loose, turning his face red again

L: Even the dragon is beginning to blush from all the exertion now, and he knows his air won't be as useful to the dragonite next time, so he just keeps going for now.

S: the dragonite grunts from strain, constant bubbles escaping his nose and mouth as his face is fully red, with all the exertion combined with the dragonite's low breath hold record, he isn't gonna last that much longer

L: This time, there isn't an indent in the ceiling above them, but the dragon can see one some distance ahead. "Hblang ibln thblere, Ibl cabln't giblve yoblu aiblr yeblt..."

S: the dragonite whines, pressing his mouth against the pearl to try and keep his air in, his face quickly blushing blue, but he keeps pushing the pearl, not wanting to disappoint the dragon

L: The dragon goes as fast as he can, getting to the spot before too much longer. "Obl-okblay, gblo brbleatblhe!" He blows out a lot of bubbles, making another air pocket above the two.

S: the dragonite doesn't waste any time, he goes up into the newly formed air pocket and gasps for breath heavily, panting a bit, it's likely gonna be a minute before he recovers, not used to being so low on breath

L: The dragon tries to be patient, watching the dragonite above him. His blush is slowly expanding, his lungs mostly empty...

S: this time, the dragonite knows he can't waste time, so after he's caught his breath he takes a deep breath and dives back underwater, feeling much better

L: Once the dragonite's holding the pearl again, the dragon gets his air back, though his face is now fully red regardless.

S: the dragonite pushes the pearl again, hoping the exit is not that far away as he doesn't know if he's gonna survive if he runs low on air again

L: Thankfully, before there's any more issues, the two get outside with the pearl! The dragon makes sure it's secure on the bottom so it won't roll away, then starts swimming for the surface to breathe.

S: the dragonite quickly follows the dragon close behind, and before long the two surface and gasp for breath heavily

L: "F-finally did it! Just gotta get that thing to shore now, and that'll be pretty easy!"

S: "Yeah... phew... that was scary... glad neither of us ended up drowning, I really need to work on my breath holding skills"

L: "That could definitely use some work, yeah... But hey, you'll get to relax again once this is done with!"

S: "Yeah, then we'll be rich! That money would help me out so much..."

L: "Same here, I've already got some ideas on what to do with my half. Anyway, ready to get back down there?"

S: "Ugh, I'm already missing the fresh air... but...fine, I guess I'm ready to go back down"

L: "It won't take long from here, don't worry!" The dragon starts deeply breathing once more.

S: "I hope so..." the dragonite takes some deep breathes as well

L: Soon, the dragon's ready again. "Alright, hopefully the last time! 3, 2, 1..." He holds his breath and dives.

S: the dragonite soon holds his breath and dives down as well, swimming back towards the pearl, his movements in swimming aren't the greatest, but it's manageable

L: Once he's in position again, the dragon resumes pushing the pearl, thankful that the shore isn't all that far away.

S: the dragonite gets in position as well and pushes the pearl as well, happy it's not gonna be all that far away

L: Then, after about a minute, the two finally get the pearl onto the shore, and no longer have to be holding their breath to move it! "Alright, nice!"

S: the dragonite gasps in the air
"Ahhh finally, now we can move this without having to hold our breathes! Let's get this to the nearest shop so we can sell this thing!"

L: "Of course! Heh, I wonder what kind of reaction we're going to get when we roll this in..."

S: "Hehe, their mouths are gonna drop open I'm sure when they see this thing! It's gonna be hilarious!"

L: The two continue rolling the pearl, soon arriving in a store run by a greninja. His jaw immediately drops at the sight of the pearl! "WOAH! Where did you two even get that!?"

S: "I told you their mouth was gonna drop open! Hehe!" the dragonite giggles, and both them and the dragon were still wearing their swim goggles
"I'll give you one guess!"

L: Greninja: "It must have been from the ocean nearby, huh?"

Dragon: "Yep, we got it out of a cave underwater. Wasn't easy, but we managed it!"

S: "Yeah...especially for me, since my breath holding record is only 4 minutes...heh, but we got it!"

L: Greninja: "Well, um... Looking to sell it, or are you just showing it off?"

Dragon: "Haha, we're selling it, we wouldn't just be parading this thing around!"

S: "Yeah! We're hoping for a lot of money for this thing! I've been through a lot to get this so, it better be a good amount!"

L: Greninja: "It definitely will be!" He gives the dragonite and the dragon a huge amount of money for the pearl!

Dragon: "Woah, this is even better than I expected!"

S: the dragonite's mouth drops open at the amount of money, then tears up
"Omg...i-ive never seen that much money before in my life!"

L: Greninja: "And I've never seen a pearl this big before! I ought to check out that cave for myself sometime!"

Dragon: "This was the only one I saw, but hey, go for it, we've already got plenty of money now!"

S: "Yeah! J-just be careful going down that cave...heh..." the dragonite blushes a bit

L: Greninja: "No worries, I can handle myself pretty well in water, as you can probably tell."

Dragon: "Right, yeah, you're a water type. You'll probably have an even easier time than I did!"

S: "And definitely better then me that's for sure, I still need to improve my breath holding..."

L: Greninja: "Well, you could certainly easily afford some lessons now, huh? I'm sure you can find someone that'd be up for helping you."

Dragon: "Yeah, I'm not really the best teacher, it couldn't really be me..."

S: the dragonite sighs
"Yeah, hopefully I find someone who can teach me... I actually taught myself how to swim since I couldn't afford lessons... so now I need to go and find someone who's willing to help me out"

L: Greninja: "I do actually know of someone that could help; there's this orca guy that lives around here, and I've never once seen him be strained from breath holding, even when he was turning blue!"

Dragon: "Oh, that guy! Yeah, apparently he can hold his breath almost 40 minutes!"

S: "Huh?! Whoaa.... sign me up! Where does he live?? I wanna go talk to them!"

L: Dragon: "I know where we can find him, let's head right over!" He starts leading the dragonite outside.

Greninja: "Hope it goes well for you two!"

S: "Thanks!!" the dragonite follows the dragon outside, giggling as he hopes this orca will help him

L: After about 10 minutes of walking, the two come to a house.

Dragon: "Alright, this is where he lives. Hopefully he's home..."

S: "Alright...let's see..." the dragonite approaches the home and gently knocks on the door with a clawed finger

L: A few seconds pass, before the door is opened. Sure enough, there's an anthro orca, wearing only a swimsuit. He exhales, apparently having been holding his breath. "Well, hello. What's up?"

Dragon: "My friend's interested in getting some lessons from you!"

S: "Y-yeah! I definitely need some breath holding lessons for sure...speaking of which, we're you just holding your breath just now?"

L: Orca: "I was, yeah. I practice that pretty often, whether I'm underwater or not. It's kind of funny, sometimes I actually forget I'm doing it!"

S: "What?! How could you forget your holding your breath when you realize you can't breathe? That's a little dangerous if you ask me"

L: Orca: "I always remember eventually, it only ever takes until I start feeling the urge to breathe."

Dragon: "Okay, good, I didn't like the sound of that either..."

S: "Yeah...phew...well anyways, do you think you'll be able to help me out? I really wanna improve my time underwater..."

L: Orca: "I could definitely do that... But I don't plan on doing it for free."

Dragon: "Whatever your price is, I'm sure we can afford it."

S: "Oh that's not a problem!" the dragonite takes out a big wad of cash
"I'm sure this'll cover it? Hehe"

L: The orca is stunned for a moment. "..Y-yep, that'll work! For both of you too, if you want!"

Dragon: "I may as well get in on this too, maybe I'll learn something!"

S: "Perfect! Thanks so much!" the dragonite gives the orca the money

L: Orca: "Alright, come with me, I've got a pool we can do this in." He leads the two to his backyard, which has a surprisingly big pool. "So, I imagine you both know the basics about swimming?"

Dragon: "I'm already fairly good, yeah."

S: "Yeah, I can swim fine...it's my breath holding that needs work mostly..."

L: Orca: "Breath holding training is what I specialize in, so you're in luck. By the time we're done today, I wouldn't be surprised if we raised your record by a few minutes!"

Dragon: "Woah, for real? You're that confident?"

S: "Huh?! Ha! I love to see you try! I'll give you some extra money if you manage to raise my breath holding record"

L: Orca: "Well, you'd better be ready for that then... Come on, let's get started." He hops into the shallow end, as does the dragon.

S: "Whoa... confidence..." dragonite giggles before hopping into the shallow end as well, he is a little annoyed he's gonna be submerging again after he was gonna be taking a break, but he did need some practice after all, and he still has his goggles on and ready to go

L: Orca: "So, first up, I need to know where you two are already at. Dive under and stay down as long as you can, please. I'll be joining you, don't worry."

Dragon: "My friend's not gonna like this..."

S: "Ah geez...maybe this wasn't a good idea then...I've already been pushed to my limits several times today, i don't feel like doing it again..." the dragonite frowns

L: Orca: "Guess you've had a busy day, huh? Sorry, but the best way for me to figure out where your skill level is at is for us to do this."

Dragon: "It's gonna be alright, neither of us are gonna let anything happen to you."

S: "...maybe we should do this on a different day then... my lungs are exhausted right now... I probably should have said that in the beginning..."

L: Orca: "We can wait if you want, I'll be free tomorrow too. And don't worry, you won't have to pay me a second time."

Dragon: "What do you think, dragonite?"

S: "Yeah, I think that's a good idea... I need a nap honestly... I'm so tired... I wont be able to focus on holding my breath like this..." the dragonite yawns "As much as I want the help as soon as possible... and get it done today... I don't think my body will be able to handle anymore breath holds today" he definitely seems upset that he'll have to wait, they are already here in the pool and he felt like he just wasted time

L: Orca: "Alright, we'll get back to this tomorrow. That should give me a better idea of what you're capable of, too."

Dragon: "Hang on, dragonite, you don't look so sure you want to leave this..."

S: "...I'm contemplating now, I know I'm sleepy, but at the same time we're already in the pool, so I'm feeling like I should just get it done yknow? So i don't really know if I wanna leave this... maybe being sleepy will make me feel more calm underwater...I don't know... maybe I should just do it today"

L: Orca: "That DOES actually help a little, being tired makes it easier to relax."

Dragon: "Oh, neat! Yeah, this is probably a pretty good time for this!"

S: "You know what your right, I don't know what I was thinking, maybe because I've been pushed so many times today is what set me down but, ok...I'll try this thing then, as long as you guys stay close to me...I'm gonna need A LOT of support if I'm gonna keep going"

L: Orca: "Yep, I'll be right next to you for the whole thing."

Dragon: "Same here, don't worry!"

S: "Thanks guys I really appreciate it, alright...let's do this" adjusting his swim goggles, the dragonite takes some deep breathes to prepare himself for the dive ahead, knowing he'll be pushed again, but with the help of his two new friends, he's gonna get this done and improve his time by a lot

L: Orca: "Good to see you know about the deep breathing thing. It's a big help, huh?"

Dragon: "It really is, yeah." He starts deeply breathing as well, though the orca doesn't.

S: "Actually the dragon showed me it first, I didn't know it at the time but now I do" eventually everyone seemed ready to go
"Ok...i-i think I'm ready...man, I'm so nervous! I don't wanna get pushed to my limit again..."

L: Orca: "It'll be alright, just try your best to stay calm."

Dragon: "Yep, we're right with you! 3, 2, 1!" He and the orca dive under.

S: "Oh man..." the dragonite was very hesitate at first, but eventually he took a final breath and dove under as well

L: The dragon and orca both sit down on the bottom, with the orca watching his two students.

Orca: "Don't worry about going to your aboslute limit, just go as long as you can handle."

S: the dragonite sits down in between the dragon and the orca, their face already red just from swimming down here

L: The dragon leans against the dragonite a little, smiling at them as he tries to help keep them calm. The orca pets the dragonite a little as well.

S: the dragonite certainly appreciates the affection, he leans against the dragon a bit too, but his face quickly flushes fully red, grunting a bit in strain not even 2 minutes underwater

L: The dragon and the orca both keep watching the dragonite to make sure they don't go too far, both of them still doing just fine.

S: eventually, the dragonite's face turns blue and he squirms in discomfort, he looks up at the surface, wanting to get air, and he couldn't help himself, he jumps off the bottom and swims back up, gasping for air heavily

L: The orca surfaces, while the dragon stays below for now. "Well, that wasn't the worst I've seen. Still, you've definitely got a lot of room for improvement."

S: "Heh... I just get so low on breath so easily and I don't know how I can compose myself..." the dragonite looks around "Seems the dragon is staying down there..."

L: Orca: "I'm glad he is, I still need to see how he does in water. You can just relax until he's done, if you want."

S: "Yeah, I guess I'll wait for him then, as much as I wanna watch him... but my lungs have suffered enough..."

L: Orca: "No idea how long it'll take, he hasn't even started blushing yet. But, you'll obviously know once he's done." He takes a breath and dives back down to watch the dragon.

S: "Hey, don't just leave me up here!" the dragonite sighs, he didn't wanna be alone, so with a roll of his eyes he takes a deep breath and dives back down as well to watch, and so he's not alone

L: The orca and the dragon quickly notice the dragonite's return.

Orca: "Sure, you can watch, just don't tire yourself out too much."

S: the dragonite nods, then he floats in place as he watches the dragon, hoping it won't be all that long until he runs out of breath

L: The dragon is still going strong... It takes another whole minute for him to even begin blushing.

S: "ugh, this is gonna take forever..." the dragonite was thinking to himself as he continued to watch the dragon, getting a blush himself

L: Orca: "I have to say, this is already pretty impressive..."

The dragon smiles at that, but continues to focus on staying relaxed.

S: "Mmhm..." the dragonite rolls his eyes as his whole face turns red, starting to get impatient...he wants to improve already but this dragon is taking his sweet time

L: The orca notices the dragonite's boredom. "...You know what, I think I've seen enough. Head back up, and we'll really get started." The dragon nods, and he and the orca head for the surface.

S: the dragonite does too, gasping for breath
"Thank you... it's about time, I'm ready to improve"

L: The dragon catches his breath as well.

Orca: "So, first, there's a few important things to know. For one thing, try to move as little as possible while you're holding your breath. Any movement you make will shorten how long you can last."

S: "Not moving at all?? Jeez, that's gonna be tough... my body is always wiggling around trying to get comfortable... guess I'll have to see if I can get it under control then"

L: Dragon: "Makes sense, that'd help reduce oxygen usage a little..."

Orca: "Secondly, try to stay as comfortable as possible. Breath holding is all about willpower, and you can only get your best time if you're in the best mental state you can be."

S: "How can I be comfortable when I'm always stressed out about breath holding and not breathing?? My mental state is always stressed and fearful when submerged...that's gonna be very hard for me"

L: Orca: "Ah, that'll likely be why your record isn't all that good. How about we work on getting you more calm underwater?"

Dragon: "We should, yeah. What do you like doing to relax?"

S: "Nothing really...I don't necessarily need to relax as I'm calm most of the time, but being submerged is a whole other ordeal"

L: Orca: "Hm... Well, is there anything apart from needing to hold your breath that you don't like about being underwater?"

Dragon: "Yeah, we might be able to help with it!"

S: "Well, the fact that it's too quiet down there...and I can't hear anything, it freaks me out... and seeing the surface far away really triggers my fears...honestly I'm not made to be submerged at all, I don't even know why I wanna improve honestly... I hate it a lot, I was just trying to do something exciting in my life and that turned into a big fear"

L: Orca: "We don't have to go all that far down, but there isn't much we can do about it being too quiet..."

Dragon: "Hm... Yeah, I don't really have any ideas."

S: "You know what, just forget it, I'm probably not even gonna improve at all, and I don't plan on doing any more diving for a long while after today anyways so... I'm done here" the dragonite gets out of the water and take off his goggles, walking away

L: Orca: "Are you sure? I can only give you a partial refund at this point..."

Dragon: "Um... I think I'm gonna stay, if that's alright."

S: "I'm sure, and you can keep all of the money...I'll catch you guys later"

and so the dragonite with a tearful expression on his face, spreads his wings and starts to take off into the air to fly away, then he speaks in a tearful tone of voice

"There's no hope for me..."
the dragonite seems sad he's gonna be leaving behind his friends like this, he only hovers in midair for now, trying to convince himself to fly away

L: Dragon: "...Are you sure you don't want to at least give it one more try?"

Orca: "I've got a few pool toys I could get out if you just want to hang out for a while."

S: the dragonite wipes away a few tears
"Pool toys? Come on now, I'm an adult, I don't play with pool toys... besides I'll get bored quick... I really don't know what to do honestly"
the dragonite lands on the edge of the pool as he couldn't bring himself to fly away

L: Orca: "No shame in it, I play with them sometimes myself." He hops onto the edge of the pool with the dragonite.

Dragon: "I can tell you don't want to leave, we just have to figure out some way to make this better for you." He gets onto the edge as well, sitting next to the dragonite.

S: the dragonite wraps his arms around both of them in a hug, really needing one
"...maybe I should at least give it one more try, and if I get the same exact time then so be it, I'll be done... if you guys hug me down then there's a chance it may help, I'm a hugger after all..."

L: Dragon: "How about we keep a group hug going the whole time?"

Orca: "I'm almost certain that'll make at least SOME difference."

S: "...ok then, but I wanna stay just below the surface, I don't wanna go to the bottom... and I'm only doing this one time, that's it"
the dragonite pulls out his goggles again and puts them on, starting to take deep breathes already as he wants to get this over and done with

L: Orca: "Yeah, I was going to say, we shouldn't go far under this time."

Dragon: "Any depth is fine by me. Hope this goes better..." He starts deeply breathing too.

S: the dragonite keeps hugging both the orca and the dragon, hoping I'll go better as well, eventually everyone seems ready
"O-ok, l-lets go then..."

L: Dragon: "Here we go, one more try... 3, 2, 1..." He and the orca hold their breath as they go underwater with the dragonite again.

S: the dragonite quickly holds his breath as well as they dive back down, now he's really hugging both of them tightly as he was already getting afraid again

L: The orca and the dragon both keep holding the dragonite, hoping to help them keep calm.

Orca: "It's gonna be okay, just focus on us..."

S: the dragonite looks at both of them deeply in his eyes, his cheeks puffing up as he held his breath, it was hard to get distracted from the water around them as his face is already red

L: Orca: "Let me try something..." He starts humming a song, able to do so without losing any air.

The dragon smiles a little at the song, closing his eyes.

S: the dragonite's eyes go wide at the song, it was one of his favorites to listen to, he couldn't help but feel a bit calmer at the song, but not by much

L: Still, seeing that it's making a difference and not knowing what else to do, the orca gives the dragonite a smile as he keeps going.

S: the dragonite's face turns fully red again, starting to get nervous about being breathless once again

L: The dragon starts petting the dragonite, and once the orca notices that, he joins in on doing so.

S: the pets do help a bit, grunting a bit from strain as he looks up at the surface, so close

L: The orca keeps watching the dragonite, trying to gauge when they'll be wanting to head back to the surface.

S: it didn't take long for the dragonite to feel the urge to breathe and it's too much for him to handle, his face blue as constant bubbles escape him

L: Able to tell it's time to surface, the orca stops humming and lets go of the dragonite to let them go up. The dragon lets go as well, watching to make sure it'll be fine.

S: the dragonite swims up and surfaces, gasping heavily for breath
"W-well, that didn't feel long at all"

L: The others surface as well, the dragon gasping a little.

Orca: "You were getting a blue blush, you didn't the first time!"

Dragon: "Yeah, that was longer than the first time here!"

S: "Oh... well, that's scary, but it didn't feel much longer... glad I managed that at least, but there...I'm done now..."

L: Orca: "For what it's worth, it was fun helping you guys out."

Dragon: "At least you know a few new breath holding tricks now, huh?"

S: "Yeah, I guess so...thanks for trying to help me out...now I'm gonna get outta here for real"

L: Dragon: "Think I'm gonna go too, realized this won't really be as fun without you. Thanks for helping us out, orca guy!"

Orca: "No problem! Whenever you two are ready, drop by again sometime and I'll train you some more."

S: "Yeah, it's likely gonna be a while... but thanks" the dragonite gives the orca one last hug before starting to fly again, taking off his goggles once again

L: The dragon gets out of the water and takes off his goggles as well, heading out with the dragonite.

S: the dragonite and the dragon exchange their final goodbyes, with the dragonite feeling much better about his life now, waving goodbye before flying away
