"Critical mission failure"

This lizard spy had been sent to get information on an underwater base, but he ended up overusing the invisibility field of his stealth suit and running out its battery right when he was in full view of a couple guards. In the ensuing escape, he lost the suit's hood, meaning he had to hold his breath once he got outside, and while he normally had an 8 minute hold and 90 second drown, that wasn't exactly how it'd be with his heart pounding the way it was. Now, he takes cover behind a large rock, pinned down by several aquatic guards' laser fire, only a couple shots left in his own laser pistol, and covering his mouth in an attempt to not inhale. There's no way he could reach the surface before drowning, and if he tried he'd just be finished off early. Things really couldn't be worse for him.

*one day, on the shoreline that goes to a deep ocean, this lizard spy was getting ready to investigate an underwater base, however...they recently discovered that they might need a buddy alongside them in case danger happened, so they decided to call in to see who was available, unfortunately nobody was except for the rather nervous and scared litwick... who's never really gone on these types of missions before as when the lizard said this, the litwick got scared*

The lizard almost sighs, but stops himself. "I technically CAN do this on my own, so you can just hang back for the most part. IF something happens though, I don't want to be alone down there."

It seems like it's going to take a couple minutes in total to get all the way down, and while the lizard is fine with that kind of depth, he worries a little that the litwick might not be.

Continuing to swim, the lizard and litwick are thankfully about two thirds of the way down. With the view of the base getting clearer, the lizard can start inspecting it for a way in, though only from above for now.

Starting to have a little strain himself, the lizard holds off on giving the litwick more air for now. The base is finally reached though, and the lizard starts giving it a proper look over, staying clear of any windows.

With a disappointed nod, the lizard jumps off the base's roof and starts swimming back up, catching up with some of the bubbles he and the litwick had let out.

With a nod, the lizard swims into the entrance, thankfully soon finding air and a way to leave the water. He cautiously pokes his head up to check if anyone's around, and finding that it's just him and the litwick, swims up enough that they can breathe.

"I'm surprised how much of an improvement that made... Now, take things slow from here, we're in big trouble if someone finds us." The lizard keeps fairly quiet as well, climbing out of the water and helping the litwick do the same.

Knowing that going back into the water as quick as would be necessary here would make too much noise, the lizard presses up against a wall as well as he can, motioning for the litwick to do the same. He also readies his laser pistol in case he'll need it.

The lizard quickly stuns the guard with a shot from his laser pistol, but at this point it's too late, an alarm starting a couple seconds later. "W-we need to go, NOW!" He grabs the litwick and starts sprinting through the halls.

The lizard gets a deep breath as well and dives underwater, quickly swimming back outside. It seems to not quite be quick enough though, as he and the litwick are quickly under laser fire again! He takes cover behind a large rock before either of them can be hit, thankfully.

Not paying attention to them right now, the lizard fires off a few more shots at the guards, then his laser pistol softly beeps to indicate its charge is almost out. His eyes go wide, and he looks down at the litwick with visible fear.

Deciding to at least try, the lizard fires at the guards again, and he does stun one, but there's several others and his laser pistol is now entirely out of charge. He just drops it, knowing there's no point in continuing to hold onto it.
