Best comparison I've seen is to photography. Yes, anyone can click a button and have the machine do the work. But it takes skill to actually be good at it. Like a photographer can choose lighting, aperture size, focal length, etc, I can get inventive with the prompts, use inpainting to fix details, and add my own formatting to make it more than just the image. Plus, like with photography, a big part of it is making tons and tons of images and knowing which is just the right one to keep.
