~ Passing through the large gate overhead, Ion, Flint and Zephyr gazed at the simple tranquility of the mountaintop village in front of them, 'I never though something like this could be here way up in the mountains" Ion commented, "well we try to live a more simpler life then you valley dwellers" a female voice could be heard as an older dragon approached, "it's you!" Ion said as the dragon made a smirk, "good to see you again as well, young one, this time not trespassing on forbidden grounds: the dragon elder remarked with a smirk the Ion blushed at. "No matter, all that is in the past" the dragon elder continued, "you are all our welcomed guests as you young one prepare to complete the ceremony of rite." "Ceremony of rite?" Ion asked, "what is that?" "What do you mean what is that?" Lazarus cut in, "isn't that why you came? Like your elders before you?" 'Well my dad didn't really say anything about that" Ion answered, "my question was to come here and deliver this letter" Ion continued taking out the letter and handing it to the dragon elder. The elder smiled as she took the letter from Ion and opened it, "I guess he was also just testing you" she said which gave Ion a confused look, "the letter is nothing more them a formality, of Ivan asking that you undergo the rite of dragonkin" the elder continued making Ion even more confused, "ever since what your grandfather did for us back during the war, we offered him and his kin the rite of dragonhood, as a sign of respect and thanks as well among other things, that rite falls to you now as well." "So what you are saying is I am going to be a dragon?" Ion asked still a bit puzzled, "in a sense yes, but more ceremonial" the elder answered, "at least for now" she continued in thought, "it can come with other advantages as well, like being able to traverse our grounds whenever you desire, with your envoys by your side as well" the elder continued motioning to Flint and Zephyr, "as long as they are by your side, they are welcome as well." "So what is the rite then?" Ion asked, "you will see in due time, in the ceremony latter on tonight but first I want to give you this" the dragon elder said, handing Ion what looked like an old spellbook, Ion looked through the pages only to look a bit down, "I can't read this" he said with a frown, "I don't recognize any of the symbols, I can't understand what it is trying to tell me" "oh but you will in time" the dragon elder said placing a hand on Ion's shoulder, "the rite is only the first step of many more to come, you might start understanding after the night come to a close" the elder continued, "but there is one more thing you need to do before the rite can commence."
"What is that?' Ion asked, "you need to choose a dragon in the village as someone to take the rite with, to be your guide through dragonhood in becoming a dragonkin" the elder answered, "tour around the village for a while, get to know the people here and see you connects with you the best, this bond to our world will be special, so make your choice carefully" the elder continued before walking away, "I must get going too" Lazarus said, "got some preparations before the ceremony, I will come and get you when the time has come" he continued before flying off leaving the boy alone in the middle of the tranquil village, "well you heard what they said" Ion conversed with Flint and Zephyr, "why don't we take a look around!" For the next few hours, the boys toured the small village, hearing about and listening to stories from the other dragon they met as each seamed excited for the celebration that was going to happen for Ion later, there wasn't much that went on normally here and this even was something special. After seeing all they could see for the time being, the boys rested on the small bridge crossing the river that flowed through the mountaintop village, each taking a seat on the side before Flint jumped into the river suddenly, "what are you up to?" Ion asked as Flint looked a bit serious before shoving his hand into the flowing water, pulling out a koi fish, "nice catch" Ion commented with a smile, "thanks" Flint remarked with a small blush as he let the koi go back in the water before trying to catch another one, "never seen fish like these before, figure I ought to try and catch a couple to brag about back home" Flint continued with a smile as Ion watched on smiling back, with Zephyr shaking his head, "we are guest here you know, probably shouldn't go around disturbing the place" Zephyr remarked, "ah, you are no fun" Flint spouted out as he grabbed a hold of the side of the bridge while still standing in the water, "what are you look at Ion?" Flint asked after a few calm minutes, "oh, nothing really" Ion replied, "just the beauty with all the lights here, with everything so calm and quiet, feels kind of empty though." "well that's because everyone is in the centre square waiting for the ceremony to begin" a familiar voice said as Lazarus came into view, "so are you ready to begin? To take the rite?" "i am, but first there is something I would like to ask you' Ion answered getting up and looking Lazarus in the eyes, "what is it?" Lazarus responded, "well it is about what the elder said, a dragon to be my guide through dragonhood, are you willing to be that dragon?' Ion asked getting a surprised look from Lazarus, "you sure about that? I mean I attacked you, on more then one occasion and..." Lazarus started saying before he was cut off, "I know and that is kind of the main reason" Ion cut in, "I had fun with those fights, you looked to be having fun as well, we connected well, pushed each other to our limits and I am sure you will continue to do so as I become a dragonkin." "Sure... I guess, if that is what you desire" Lazarus replied as Ion nodded, "it is, it just seams like it is mean to be" Ion added with a smile, "alright then, now that, that is settled, are you ready to go?" ~
