In the morning, Ion sat down and started looking through the book the dragon elder had given him the night before after the ceremony, the pages were filled with the language of the dragons, the dragon runes, so of which he recognized that were painted on his body last night just before the ceremony began for his acceptance into the dragon linage and bond pact with Lazarus. At the time he didn't understand the meaning of the symbols but continuing to look through this book something in his mind clicked, as words seamed to leave the pages into his mind as Ion could make out what the rune and glyphics said, well at least internally. Focusing his mind on the meaning of the words he was understanding, he felt this warmth, this fire radiating throughout his body as he could see small flames engulfing his hands and arms, they were almost cold to the touch, a dire contrast to the feeling within his body that wanted to burst free, raising his hand to the sky, Ion created a gateway for the flames to run as cold blue fire shot out, as the spellbook in his hand seamed to resonate with Ion's actions, engulfing itself in orange flame as Ion continue to concentrate, creating a steady glowing flame between himself and the book, which he started controlling with ease. "Since when can you conjure fire?" a voice Ion recognized said as Flint walked over, "just now, as I can read them... I can understand the dragon runes... it is like they are guiding me in a way" Ion said as he continued to manipulate the fire as Flint continued to watch in awe before slowly letting it fade down as his arms and the book returned to normal. "You never cease to amaze me" Flint said as he took a seat next to Ion, "can control two elements where there is me who can't even figure out what I am adept to" Flint continued as he kind of slammed his hand into the ground, causing the rock around it to crack and break, "hey no need to be down on yourself, as I said before I am sure you will figure it out some time soon" Ion said to raise his friend's spirit, "maybe just need to push it along somehow, maybe some sort of..." "I rather not do anything reckless" Flint said giving a coy smile to Ion, "I didn't mean anything like that" Ion answered knowing he might have to change his idea, "well it doesn't matter, like you said I will find out eventually, everyone is adept to some sort of element" Flint responded with a smile as a sleepy Zephyr could be seen walking towards them, "good morning, I take you couldn't sleep well?" Ion asked even though it was about midday, "not that, I mean, it was a long night but I was just woken up by Lazarus" Zephyr said, "we need to head to the village gate, the elder has requested us" he continued as Ion and Flint stood up and followed Zephyr back to the village gate, where the dragon elder, as well as Lazarus and the other two dragons that flew them here were standing as well. "so how did the book treat you?" the elder asked as the boys arrived, "it was fascinating" Ion said as the elder raised an eyebrow, "the runes and the glyphics seamed to leap off the page into my mind, I could read them, understand them, the feeling of fire pulsing throughout my body, I was able to cast a flame" Ion continued as Zephyr had a shocked expression on is face, "wait, hold on, you can conjure fire now?" Zephyr asked seaming to instant full wake from his sleepiness at Ion's statement, "yes" Ion answered to the group, "it was a cold blue flame, not unlike my lightning, but I was able to control and manipulate it, even the book resonated in flames as well" Ion continued as the elder grabbed her chin.
"This is interesting" she said after a moment, "not even the other two cold manufacture a flame so quickly and in the case of your father, I don't know if he ever did" she continued while deep in thought. "your change is already beginning, it has already been set in motion, a result in the now, a fox dragonkin, especially at such a young age, you have quite some potential" the elder said before placing a hand on Ion's shoulder, "it would be a waist to continue to develop this potential, why don't you stay here with us for a while and go through the training of a dragonkin knight?" the elder offered. Ion stood there dazed a bit by her words, "it will be tough and you will not be able to go home for about six months or so as you complete the training but in the end I believe it will be a great asset for you" the elder continued as Ion looked deep in thought. It was almost the end of June, summer was starting soon but he would be training throughout that anyways to be a Hunter and he didn't really like school all that much, missing a good portion of that for the next year, being with the dragons was a real perk, Ion looked at his friends as they looked excited by the opportunity as it would be a pathway to their goal, "ok, I think all of us would be..." Ion started saying before he was cut off, "I should mention, this offer is only for you, your friends would have to go back home" the elder said as the mood dropped between the three boys, excitement turned to small disappointment for Flint and Zephyr, while for Ion it was heart wrenching, "why can't they stay with me?" Ion asked, "you said me as a dragonkin now and my envoys were always welcome to stop by, why is this any different?" Ion asked with a bit of anger, "that is because envoys are allowed on dragon grounds for official visits by those who are welcomed, as you are a welcomed guest, they are allowed to be here with you, same as if you would just stop by" the elder started saying, "but if you stay with us to train, you would become a citizen of Ryutatzu for the time being and no longer a welcomed guest, so you would not have the need for envoys" the elder continued leaving Ion in a dilemma, "but you don't have to make the choice right this second, why don't you fly with your friends back to the valley and think on it, if you return with Lazarus then I know you are ready to bring full that potential, if you don't well, maybe it was too early of an ask" the elder said as she started to walk away. "I have my eyes on you now though, I will not let potential go to waist" Ion could hear the elder say in a dragon tongue as she left as the decision weighed heavily on him, as almost nothing else around him was there, it felt like he was standing all alone before a hand made it into his sight, the hand of a new friend in Lazarus, "are you ready to take flight?" ~
