~ "So are you ready?" Lazarus asked as Ion made a big smile and nodded, a large gush of wind swept through as the dragons carrying their foxy passengers shot up into the air, the rush was wild as both Ion and Flint yelled in excitement as Zephyr covered his eyes and hung on for dear life as he had a fear of heights. "Say we have some time to kill, why don't we have a little fun?" Lazarus said as his wings flapped faster, their speed increased as they soared through the valley, back towards the city of Eios, "aren't we going the wrong way?" Ion asked as Lazarus laughed, "I figured you would want to see your home from above, you Kitsus don't get an opportunity like this every day" Lazarus responded as they dashed over the skies of the city below, with many onlookers staring up at the flying overhead, "so where do you live here?" "See that tall building in the centre?" Ion pointed out, "that is the capital tower where my dad works as the Overseer, our home is on it's grounds to the north" Ion replied as Lazarus nodded and started flying towards that direction, angling himself downwards as they buzzed by the gardens of Ion's family estate, "hi mom!" Ion yelled as they caught a glimpse of his mother who was attending the flowers, "oh my! Ion! You be careful! Don't do anything too reckless!" they could hear her call out as Ion just laughed it off, "I am sure I am going to get a talking to after we are all done" Ion said as the flight continued, "since I am probably going to get in trouble anyways, can we go to the large window to the south of the capital tower?" Ion asked Lazarus who made a weird look at Ion's request, 'what's so special about there?" he asked. "That's were dad's office is, kind of what to give him a little surprise" Ion replied with a devious smile, "sure about that?" Lazarus asked to which smiled and said "yes!" Lazarus nodded and directed the group over to the large window, there Ion could see his father sitting at the throne discussing matters with other dignitaries, with a smile Ion started making faces and gestures, kind of a mocking way to his father as the dignitaries took notice, then a moment latter Ion's father clued in something was amiss and turned around to see his son outside the window, his tongue sticking out with one finger pulling down his eyelid. His father placed his hand in his head and shook it is a disparaging way as Ion laughed, Flint just waved and Zephyr getting red in the face made a small bow of apology as the dragons decided it was time to set sail before anymore trouble was caused.
"Thanks, that was fun" Ion said as they left the skies of the city, heading back towards the mountains, "I wish my mom could see me up here, riding the winds as she did the seas" Ion started saying as he looked up at the sky, "I am sure you can tell her all about it when you get back home" Lazarus said but Ion shook his head, "she's gone, almost a year ago, the boat she was piloting drifted into some rocks off the cannel due to strong currents, despite efforts we could not find anyone who was on the boat, all were lost..." Ion continued in a sadden tone, "sorry for your loss, I didn't know" Lazarus said, "it's ok, I have accepted the fact that she is gone and who know maybe she is looking down and seeing me ride the winds from the beyond, at least that is what I like to believe" Ion responded making a small smile. "Well we can fly together any time, though I don't want to cause you too much trouble" Lazarus responded as Ion laughed, "your not causing me any trouble, I am kind of doing that myself" he replied as he looked back to get one last high level look at the city he called home, "man I wish I had wings like you Ryū's..." Ion started to say, 'Tatsu's" Lazarus interjected, "er... what?" Ion asked, "Tatsu, it is what we dragons are called" Lazarus replied, "oh, we have always referred you as Ryū's in the city" Ion continued, "I know, Ryū is the word you kitsu's have coined to describe our kind but we like to refer to ourselves as Tatsu, just giving you some dragon culture background since we are going to be going deep into our lands" Lazarus responded, "ok then, I wish i had wings like you Tatsu's!" Ion said with a smile as Lazarus laughed, "speaking of culture, hey you tribal fennec... er... what's his name?" Lazarus asked, "Flint" Ion replied, "right, hey Flint!" Want to do a flyover of your village?" Lazarus yelled as Flint gave the thumbs up, "ok then hang on!" Lazarus said as they dived once more towards the tribal fennec grounds, coming up on Flint's village. As they dove, the dragon carrying Flint whispered something to him , as Flint nodded, he dove off the dragon's back causing him to be stunned for a moment before he dove down fast to catch Flint in his arms so he carried him with his feet dangling down, "I didn't say you had to jump to get you repositioned... boy you are a fearless one!" the dragon said as Flint laughed, "well when you are someone who can die at any moment, you learn to live life to it's fullest" Flint responded which made the dragon give a curious look as they dashed across the sky of the small village below, Flint waving his hands out to his tribe as they looked on at their warrior in the sky, the kids running in tail of the boy flying overhead, trying to catch up and waving to him as they paused in midair for a moment. Flint waived one more time as the dragons darted up one more time, the wind causing Zephyr to loose his footing on the dragon who was carrying him as he started to tumble to the ground, the dragon quickly reacted and grabbed a hold of his foot as Zephyr was suspended upside down in the air, his face in a slight fright as he held on tight to his scythe. "I think we should hurry to the village... your friend looks like he needs some solid ground" Lazarus said as Ion laughed holding onto his newsboy cap in the wind, Flint still peering down at his tribe's land's below, not noticing the slight distress. The dragons quickly scaled the mountain with the foxes in tow, as a village hidden just below the summit came into view, the dragons descended to the terrain just outside as the three fox boys returned to solid footing, gazing upon the amazingness of what stood before them. ~
