Yeah. Long uncomfortable story.  Suffice to say "I went through a time where I couldn't afford to be too picky about food."  Pretty much nailed it.

Oh? So you're just one of the poison mimicking salamanders? I actually live in the middle of RL salamander country... if it wasn't so dry right now, they'd be all over the place. Now it's just tons and tons of anole lizards.

Technically, EVERYTHING is an omnivore if it gets hungry enough. Herbivores are way better at eating meat than carnivores are at eating plants though.
