Even when I tend to agree with a particular side, if they're incapable of self-criticism they're already on the slippery slope to irrationality. I prefer to be an outside observer instead of losing myself in the heat of the moment like so many do. At the end of the day, I don't really care about people in general anyway. ....to be honest, I forgot that "frog" was a slur for French people. I was referencing the boiling frog experiment in which it was observed that if you place a frog in water and slowly increase the heat, a frog won't try to jump out. The frog will eventually boil and die.

I mean being trans I'm definitely a politically motivated person, the whole centrism thing to me falls apart when conservative parties in the states are attempting to fuck up trans peoples lives so fucking hard. I'm honestly starting to think they want an outright trans genocide. That's interesting to see what kinda parallels people are doing seeing that comic, wasn't sure that someone would make a connection with politics as you did, but that scenario can also fit. The basic story is more about "mutual hate" in general though. Even though I don't like to go too much on the politic stuff, I do agree with you that they're mostly responsible for the general hate that exists around, and they take advantage from it.

Mutual hate for the sake of hate is irrational and ridiculous. It's picking a favorite sports team and hating anyone who isn't also a fan of that team. In the end, though, it doesn't matter which side you're on and nothing is lost by ignoring the fanatics who profess one or the other.
But people will see politics in a picture like this, since the attitude that "politics is silly and stupid, both sides are the same" is pretty common. It's an attitude that is used to delegitimize reasons for choosing one side or another, when, for millions of people, those "stupid, silly politics" can be a literal matter of life and death.
So a comic like this, even as valid and relevant as it can be when applied to certain perspectives, can also be a third-rail in a bigger debate about people's concerns for their future.

Yeah that's actually the kind of irrational hate I wanted to picture, yeah of course that certain "fights" have legit reasons to exist, but pure mutual hate just makes no sense at all.
