From the same games as yesterday's picture, Dan and Mira are recurring party members of Wolf and Zera. Wolf, Zera, and Dan are the main trio (jack of all trades magic knight, white mage, warrior) and then I switch off between either Mira or another hero (Foxi) as the fourth party members.
Daqixe's name was originally intended to be pronounced as "Daniel", hence me sometimes shortening it to Dan. The joke, of course, is that names can be spelled any way. I decided about a year ago his name should instead be pronounced "da-KEESH" but Dan would still be a nickname for him. I realized about a month ago that between his heavy armor and the Q and X there, his name was accidentally reminiscent of Don Quixote when all I was really trying to do was make use of a couple of awkward and underutilized English glyphs I was fond of. When uploading this, I also just realized the XE at the end of his name fits with "aXE" - I should've been calling this guy Daxe to fit the four letter limits of many retro RPGs for these past twenty years!
Mira and Zera rhyme. "Wolf, Zera, Dan, Mira" - the order I usually have them in an active party and thus the order in which I issue their battle commands when playing.
Characterization wise, Dan is extremely passionate and forthright. He's intelligent and cautious enough to armor himself heavily, and then grabs the heaviest blade or bludgeon he can find and charges straight into danger. Mira meanwhile is extremely shy and withdrawn, saying very little and reluctant to participate in adventure. Much like Wolf and Zera, I more or less put them together as a couple out of a feeling of obligation at the times where Mira was the fourth party member rather than Foxi; "Two males, two females, two couples" - and figuring out how their personalities mesh came later. Dan and Mira wind up being a couple where he's boisterously and passionately approached her, gradually getting past her emotional barriers; a much more typical, expected type of romance wherein both map almost perfectly to gender expectations. It's nice to switch it up once in a while!
Dan and Mira are also both cousins of Wolf's. Wolf's father is an anthro wolf and a full-blooded elf, a descendant of a great anthro akita inu hero named Akira who saved the world from the Dark Lord. Mira is the niece of Akira's wife Elloel. Wolf's father Gladius fell in love and eloped with a dwarf princess Kerrah Da'Rok, older sister of Daqixe's father. Daqixe's mother was likely a human, ogress, or giantess; he was found abandoned at the gate of the castle and is DEFINITELY half dwarf, whatever the other half is, and was raised by the dwarf royal family as heir to the throne.
