This is Little Mama Miriam: the 'You Can Do It' Cub ...which is a big name for a little bear. ^^
Anyway, Little Mama Miriam (who is FAR too young to be a 'mama'), is from SQuire Rushnell's 'The Kingdom Chums: Original Top 10' (TKC10) animated special.
Pose was drawn from a screen shot.
TKC10 was a sequel to the proposed television series, 'The Kingdom Chums': a Christian animated series depicting stories from the bible. TKC was meant to become a regular series on ABC, but it didn't take off. So far as I can tell, only one episode was ever made: 'Little David's Adventure' (LDA), which as one may guess, is a telling of the David and Goliath story. :3
I cherish the hand-drawn, cartoony animation! The character *designs were the reason I wanted to begin with the special rather than the TV pilot.
*some may recognize the style, as it's exactly the same as that of Captain O.G. Readmore (and for good reason: both were made by many of the same people).
Oh yeah, the TV pilot had a very different animation style from its sequel (despite coming from the same production company) ...and though I will cover it here eventually (presuming the Lord suffers my existence long enough), I'll go ahead and link to it (link tested 04/22/2022): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqaRlYpzPZM
Frankly, I think LDA had the better story, but not so great animation ...whereas TKC10 had superior (and generally above average) animation, but the story? Meh (I've seen worse, I guess). :P
Anyway, Little Mama Mimiam is named after the biblical character: Miriam the Prophetess.
...It's a bit confusing, but basically, Miriam was the sister of Moses (the baby in the story). Miriam observes an Egyptian princess collect Moses from the river. The princess takes pity on the child, at which point Miriam boldly rushes forth to offer to find a Hebrew woman to nurse the child. The princess agrees, so Miriam returns with Moses's mother (the princess is none the wiser). :3
...Pencil.
The featured pencil is the 'Starlet': a 'Super Drawing Perfumed Pencil'. The perfume scent is long gone, but this Japanese pencil makes up for it by having lots of names written on it.
These are they: Morio; Sunpac; M.Y.T. Trading Co., Inc.
The pencil was made by M.Y.T.. M.Y.T. is a known pencil manufacturer, as I have a few pencils by them already. Additionally, 'Sunpac' is a known shop that deals in perfumes and cosmetics, so they are not the maker (this pencil was probably something they sold). I'm unsure what 'Morio' is about---maybe it was related to the fragrance?
Anyway, the Starlet has a fun, six-pointed, star-shaped barrel, which may be seen here: https://sta.sh/013zfqw21qk2 The Starlet has no eraser (the tip ends with a silver-painted cap). My Starlet is unsharpened, and will remain that way. :3
So, obviously, I didn't draw this card with the Starlet. Rather, Miriam was drawn via my trusty 'Zephyr' pencil by Wallace Pencil Co. This card is 'unfinished', meaning I've not gone over its lines with a darker pencil. What you see in this upload are my original pencil lines. :3
Holy*snicker*CRAP that show had some major names (for the time) as voice talent. Debbie Boone, Marylin McCoo, Tony Orlando, Billy Preston and Frankie Valli! That's something by itself. And ya it does look a lot like O G Readmore but to be honest I've never seen this cartoon or series ever so it must have been a kinda regional thing.
The pencil is for sure an odd one. I can only guess what scent it might have had at one time though to be honest I hate perfumes so even though it's cool looking if it smelled I might have passed it by. Also that shape would make it a bitch to sharpen even by hand. :D

Indeed there was. My guess was this was to both promote the special as well as to (in some way) fit the theme of 'Top 10', as (at least) Boone, Orlando and Preston had Top Ten Hits (I'm unsure about the other two---I'm no music expert). ^^
It would be, but would be fun to try (not that I everrrrrrrr will). ^_^

Marylin McMoo was part of The Fifth Dimension who's biggest hit was "Age of Aquarius",
Frankie Valli was the lead singer and founder of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons who did among others "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry",
and Billy Preston was a session keyboardist who played with BOTH The Beatles AND The Rolling Stones and was actually given credit on one of the Beatles songs "Get Back". He also wrote "Nothing from Nothing"
So ya...is one SERIOUSLY high powered beginning!
Maybe if you find another pencil like it... ;D

The idea, as you know, is if I say I'll do something, I'll thwart myself. :P
In the case of saying I'll draw something at some undefined point in the future, it's wise to add the disclaimer that I could die betweentimes. This is to say I'm NOT challenging either God or the Devil, and that my promise is contingent on me being alive and capable.

Okay, I watched it completely. It grows on you, David is a cute character and the basic morals are okay. The underlying ideas may be timeless but the presentation is still dated though.

The animation is pretty cute but feels a little low budget
Story is fine but seems to suffer from some of the same tropes that a lot of 80s cartoons seem to suffer from. It's easy to see the designated complainer character and how he's always wrong for instance
That being said, I think you did a great job capturing this particular cutie X3

It's still nice to see well drawn fan art of such a character. Lesser know cartoon characters need more attention. That picture is from 2015. You're about 24?

From what I recall they will send you the pilot DVD for free without any issues. I prefer the Top 10 episode. Although Mirium's segment was comedy gold. She keeps saying "Yes you can," but the commandment is "Don't kill." Talk about contradiction.

Miriam's focus in the cartoon is to explain the commandment of "Thou shall not kill." But her song repeats the phrase "Yes, you can " over and over. Sure she points out many things you can do to quell your temperature, but never out right makes the distinction of the no killing rule.

About 26 minutes into "Top 10" when the kids meet Miriam. That song's message is ultimately "Learn to Love" but the comedy comes from the repeated (slightly forced) phrase of "Yes, you can" when the commandment she is in charge of is "Thou shall not kill."

I didn't grow up on these films (seeing as my mom steered away from Christian media aside from VeggieTales for some reason... I grew up in a Jewish household), but when somebody on FA steered me towards those two specials, I was obsessed for a while. Heck, I wanted to make a Little David mascot/fursuit for a hot minute - then I realized I have no skill in that department. :P
