Criticizing art...

Why aliens don't talk to us

... so easy, a caveman can do it.
I got this idea from the comments in my previous journal about what's cheating in art.
I love traditional art, but you can't become a purist on what's not traditional enough. Art is always evolving and new tools are being invented.

I think it's all good as long as creativity is involved  ( ᐢ (oo) ᐢ )

not only creative, but the style is also extremely modern!
the start of the pleistocene artistic revolution: old pliocenic farts, you belong to the past!

The master of this kind of cartoon is Gary Larson.

I think this attitude is mostly nostalgia. That's why some of the best cartoons and comics we ever saw was what we were watching or reading before we graduated from high school.

Artists have been so plagued by critics over the centuries they have diligently included the gremlins in their own works. A simple image search for 'art critics painting' yields numerous results. And clearly, the cavemen were not exempt.

Danny DeVito's rampaging horror that was Ongo Gablogian from "It's Always Sunny ..." was not really a fictitious character.

Modern critical philosophy is all Kant's doing. So naturally it's bombastic, pretentious, self-aggrandizing, belaboring and ultimately useless.

Bonus Points: having the crusty old critic here naked and discreetly covered by his long beard, instead of wearing any of those new-fangled *clothes* is excellent character design.

Yeah, covering yourself with skins is scandalous!

Or perhaps "If the gods wanted me to be covered in fur, I would have born a mammoth" (though it would be anachronistic because I don't think humanoids had a well-defined concept of religion at this stage in pre-history)

America is afflicted with that kind of lazy simple-mindedness with all this anti-vaccine nonsense.

If you say so... but I don't think it's very relevant to this cartoon

"If God wanted _________ to ________, he would've _________!"
This is a very old rationalization for lazy and resistant dimwits to resist (resent?) the introduction of anything new. It's had such a long life because God never gets around to verifying OR correcting his intentions upon the several issues, most of which are not covered in the original texts.
You evoked it, and I contributed that it is in effect right now, by exactly the kind of people who ALWAYS resort to it.
And yes, I mean naked cavemen with long beards who hate innovations in art.

Well, yes, the phrase is a cliche for someone distrustful of something new, I was thinking about art, not current day events. But it can fit any situation.

well he is still doing it himself literally in control of every line, so I do still count it as art as long as its your own expression made with your own abilities. And if not do credit the artist that help you create your vision.
