This is Lily (girl) and Lou (mink) from 'Aunt Spoon'/'Mrs. Pepperpot'/'Madame Peppermint': an anime whose titular character (an elderly lady) carries a magical spoon with a bell attached. The spoon has the power to shrink its wearer to mouse size, and change them back ...at random. ^^
'Aunt Spoon' was adapted from a series of childrens' books by Norwegian author Alf Proysen. ^^
I've drawn Mrs. Pepperpot before, so I thought to draw some side characters from the anime: just a simple, somewhat freehanded head-and-shoulder drawing. :3 I drew this with a #3 pencil---I may delineate the art later so the lines are easier to see IRL, but it's not important. The writing on the card was made via the featured pencil (more on that later).
Lily and Lou appear in the title sequence, as well as at least one short episode ...which may be seen here (link tested 12/30/2021): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X3fdZUVRwY
Lily may or may not be human. She has the ability to fly and seems able to communicate with birds. More importantly, she knows the secret of Mrs. Pepperpot's magic spoon (but Lily is good: she won't tell). :3
Pencil...
The featured pencil is an approximately 100-year-old, Japanese 'Spoon' pencil from H.Y. Stationer.
The tip has an odd, sloped piece of plastic on top. I'm unsure what it is or what it's for, but I know it's not a 'spoon' or anything that could be used as one. ^^
EDIT 12/30/2021: by 'spoon', the pencil is referring to a boat oar (the more ya know!) ^^
The pencil is short, slim, and was factory sharpened (hence I was able to sign the card with it). The point is original, so it's not likely I'll ever use this pencil again. :3
EDIT (12/30/2021): I received the following comment from
The comment is insightful, and contains links that will be of interest to fans of the Pepperpot anime. :3
"I've never watched the show, but I just watched the opening and it looks quite nice. I mainly know the show for its character designer, an animator called Koji Nanke (who also animated the opening and the credits). He's done lots of things over the years, including various openings/credits for other anime like Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2, but he's perhaps best known for animating many music videos for the NHK programme "Minna no Uta" or "Songs for Everyone". An excellent animator who loves experimenting with mixed media and a simple, but lovely art style that sometimes reminds me of Raymond Briggs"
What a pleasant surprise! I wasn't expecting to see a Mrs Pepperpot character today, and you've done a pretty good take on the art style for that show.

Sorry if I'm abruptly plopping cartoon music videos on your doorstep, but I thought it might be kinda cool. I hope you enjoy his work, and I hope you have a wonderful New Year. Thanks for the drawing! :)
