RE-VIEW: The Happy Prince (1973)
This is the mouse queen from Paul Schibli's 'The Nutcracker Prince' (1990).

To see The Nutcracker Prince (while you can!), click here (link tested 12/18/2021): https://putlocker2021.com/watch/ox0oAKzv-the-nutcracker...

Fun Fact: this special was produced by Kevin Gillis (of 'The Raccoons'); Gillis also wrote a couple of this special's songs, inc. its theme. :3

Anyway, based on cartoon conventions, one may guess that the mouse queen is evil ...and she is: it is she who turned an innocent boy into a nutcracker.

That said, she isn't the main antagonist---in fact, the mouse queen appears only once: during Uncle Drosselmeier's telling of the nutcracker's origin (though, to be fair, that segment is about 16 minutes long). ^^

Pencil...

The featured pencil is 'The Little Soldier'. I dunno who made it, neither do I know its vintage. I can't even tell if it's a good pencil or not, for mine is unsharpened (and will remain that way).
Even so, 'The Little Soldier' seemed appropriate to show around Christmas (and the mouse queen is as good a character as any to feature it with).

I drew the mouse queen via my 'Zephyr' pencil by Wallace Pencil co, and delineated it via a CTB test scoring pencil (because it was in my used-pencil cup). :p

Oh she's wonderful! I'll have to watch this. I'm wondering if it's the same version I'm thinking of that I saw as a kid. Although 'kid' is relative because I was 15 in 1990.

EDIT: actually, I aged myself up too much: I misread your comment (I was born in 1981, so you're older than me!).

:P

Still. You're old enough to be drawing Kissyfur characters and I'm old enough to recognize them from when they originally aired.

Yeah, I'd somehow read your comment as 'born in 1990'. XD

Anyway, I've always liked old things. Growing up, most everyone I cared about was older than me; I worked in antiques/estate liquidation for many years; reference vintage characters in my art; Gene/Tasli partake in old-skool activities, and I draw them with pencils old enough to be my grandmother. :3

You and my wife could totally talk shop with antiques, that's what she's into as well. Cute movie. But damn if you tried to click in the wrong place on that website the pop-ups were relentless. Phyllis Diller was the appropriate voice actress for the Mouse Queen.

lol Yeah, I try to avoid PutLocker and KissCartoon whenever I can. DeviantArt outright bans links to PutLocker on its site (so it's pretty bad, esp. given what is allowed by DA). ^^

I mean, given how mice are treated I suspect she had her reasons.

In the story, it was because the boy (Hans) had broken the spell the mouse queen placed on the princess.
