Rachel looks at the last photo taken of her and her mum, when Rachel was just a toddler. She doesn't remember much about her mum who died not long after this photo was taken, but still feels the loss. Her older sister Maeve is there to comfort her though, and remind her that it's okay to mourn sometimes (but that their mum would want them to keep looking ahead to what's to come and not always look back).

I know what it's like to miss somebody who you never knew - in my case, it's not necessarily a family member who passed before I was old enough to know them, but somebody who never really was in the first place. And it is okay to miss them, but not to constantly dwell on that - that was something it took me many years to realise. I still think about this person and who they may have become, but it's not something that almost defines who I am anymore. (Incidentally, Maeve is partially named after this person.)

Technical notes: It was suggested to practice drawing with some comic type strips, as a chance to get some stuff down on paper (as it were) quickly and not dwell too much. So that's what I'm looking at at the moment - some quick(ish) 4-panel pieces, perhaps establishing a bit more 'lore' behind my characters etc...
