These are notices posted on the bulletin board in the lobby of Principal Clayton Wolf's office in the high school, which is at the school complex in Estancia, New Mexico where the coyote cubs; Jed, Rex, Clarence and Donna, along with the neighbor cubs, attend school.
Though school is not yet in session in the month of August, the notices are part of the preparation for the 1960-1961 school year.

However, the coyote cubs mentioned are still at elementary school level, thus their principal is Monty Wolverine.

As for the notice about teenage pregnancy, it was sometime in the late 1960s when I actually saw a notice like it posted in the lobby of the principal's office in the middle school I attended...Except of course, that one had human characters.
By the way, abortion was not an option in those days.
The class clown one is something I totally created.

I like these! I feel like this advice still holds true to this day. Even if the modern generation seems to have an aversion to higher education, forcing themselves into raising a child in a worsening economy feels like the "I told you so" remains on repeat 50 years later. Still, I can't help but think loosening restrictions on sex education and having more progressive sexual conversation would help more than hurt, but being afraid to discuss anything sexual with anyone under 18 may be a perpetual cause to the problem as most of them (like myself) learn about sex on the internet....

The other one I so remember being told that my fair share of times. XD I was a good student usually, but tended to think I was a lot more popular and entertaining than I really was. That all changed in high school where I was too scared to speak out of line due to the world being drastically different, but I had a fantastic high school life. Great friends, great teachers, great grades, I just wish I was more social myself, but I'm happy I ended up where I am in the end of the day. Honestly, I don't think you're truly an adult until you're at least 35. I'm 29 now and STILL feel like I just left high school....Everyone I work with just seems older, more mature and wiser than me.

I remember back in elementary school and what I attended in middle school, the other kids thought it was funny when a class member clowned around.
Though I myself never attended high school, a couple of friends of mine had told me that in high school the students begin to take their education more seriously, and do not like having someone always disrupting the class all the time.

BTW, I thank you for the fave.

Yeah it sounds about right. It kind of depends on which high school you go to and what classes they offer. I mostly took the higher level classes where students were a lot more serious since we were all trying to get into good colleges, but in the lower level classes (which I took a few to not burn myself out), there were more students who kind of made up their minds about life and would provide quite the daily amusement for the class. Some teachers thought it was funny though. I had some really fun teachers. Still, once you get to college, you go from a world where everyone wants you to succeed to a world where no one cares about you unless they want you to succeed. Community college (2 year) is more like High school though, but 4 year undergrad can be a nightmare if you're not ready...and I'd say from my experience and feedback from friends, you're really not ready until you've worked a few years cause it's quite the "You get out what you put in" wake up call. But in the end I think most people agree world wide that if you look at education as something you want to do because you want to learn what you want, rather than something you "have to do" to get a better job, it really does make the adult life easier. I can agree you don't need college to survive, but in this world you do need motivation and that painful debt and the frustrations of having complete strangers as roommates is definitely motivation.

and no problem! Had a flash back to childhood where I'd see signs like this and amused myself with the phrase "some things will never change", but the urge to get laid now that I can definitely afford to take the risk does get up there. Hormones still raging only now I'm a lot savvier and less timid.

Aw heck, you sound plenty wise to me, and I'm 39.

The experiences help a lot. I always work and talk to people older than me and they give lots of great advice. Whether things they did to be successful or things they wish they did different that I still have a chance to do. I actually talk to my parents a lot more than I ever did as a child about everything life related and sometimes they even come to me for advice because I'm able to live on my own. It's like we choose to stay together because we want to rather than have to, but I couldn't have gotten this far without listening to them.

Well, no man is an island, and people with more life experience are a good source of wisdom. It's cool that your parents come to you too. They sound really cool.

I'm 33, so two more years! I remember a high school pregnancy or two, I think they terminated them though. And I agree with you on forcing then big "DON'T DO IT:, down their throats, it's more likely too make them want something down their throat and elsewhere.
I care more about them simply not doing it for the sake of it and being certain about it and taking precautions.

Then I'm asexual and not interested and regard myself as having as much right as a Catholic Priest in advising people on their sex life.

You're welcome for the fave :P Forgot to leave a comment whoops, im kind of in the male teenage cubs spot at the moment minus the responsibility of a child, only difference is I left uni because of pandemic restrictions and getting a job in certain areas im interested in where I live is hard and it seems like i'll be doing a job im not into for the next 1-3 years to build up some bank, hopefully it will at least give me an opportunity to build my people skills though

Ever seen a 1961 film called "Boys Beware"?

No I haven't.  Though now that you mentioned it, I plan to check it out.

It's... interesting.

A bit off but I remember a high school pregnancy or two as a kid. I think they had them terminated. And while I disagree with "abstinence only" education, I don't advise doing it just for the sake of it or going like rabbits. But if your going too do it, make sure you both really want too and TAKE PRECAUTIONS!!! This was the time before the pill I think but condoms were common and proven.
Then I'm asexual and have no interest, so I have as much right advising people on their sex life as a Catholic Priest.

I thank you much.

I also completed a PSA poster about overdue library books. I might post that as early as tomorrow.

Teens are gonna mess around. A poster isn't gonna do much to stop them. But an abortion would stop them from getting pregnant. Proper education in safe sex and birth control would help too.

I so wish our society would invest more in sex education rather than enforcing abstinence all the time and being surprised when hormones win over. I've been watching porn since I was 12 and felt aroused since I was...gosh I think I was looking at girls in magazines when I was 8? My parents were good to me in that they taught me about sex at a young age so I knew what it was growing up, but the media always made it look like the scariest thing ever (guess that was one downside to being a 90s kid, that was the era of PSAs and people really followed the "PG-13 means you must be 13 to watch this movie". It's the fact that I kept keeping it a secret though and was so ashamed of getting caught I often insulted any sign of sexuality in media (and though the word "Sexy" was a swear word). My mom literally thought I was gay because I was so turned off by it, until she saw my artwork and realized the reason I felt that way was because of shame, not spite. So she's been more careful about how she feels about things. Even saying that if I feel I'm ready to date or if I really want to be gay, she fully supports me. My dad was always passive about these things though.

Ironically, what was seen as me being gay (growing my hair out, wearing make up and looking feminine) is actually because when I grew up, girls were always nice to me and boys were bullies, so I actually just trust feminine people more in general. I almost call myself a male lesbian cause I like looking pretty, but also like pretty things. I'm not trans though. I definitely want to keep my penis. It's just everything else. My art shows what I'd like to be like IRL.

Hehe but yeah, fortunately there's a million ways to have sex outside of vaginal.

In the day and time this is depicted, abortions were not options on the table.

This was the year 1960, thus Roe vs. Wade would not yet happened for another 13 years.

And not getting so dramatic about it. Sure I don't care about those who do it for the sake as despite being asexual I do regard it as something serious for those who want too. Just take precautions and be serious about it.

I remember 1 or 2 when I was at high school, I think they terminated them.

The first notice actually makes sense

Too bad that teens/late teens don't notice this until it's too late

I remember when I was about to leave for college, my high school best friend called and told me about this “hot girl” he’d fooled around with at a party, and — in his words — “I forgot my jimmy hat!”

A month later he called again; turns out the girl lied about her age & was now pregnant. And underage.

It’s very bizarre to me to think that my best friend back then has been stuck in factory jobs raising multiple kids ever since instead of doing any of the things he’d planned.

There were no posters when I had sex education in high school but there were classes and (more modern) videos on the topic.  Also girls were warned that the law wouldn't help you if you got pregnant.
