Practice of using prisoners in medical experiments (In the USA) were ceased in the early 80s for unethical and immoral reasons. I know it still continues in other countries.
Poor hedgehog... I hope he gets vindicated and that bitch gets thrown in jail.

Now that is a name I have not heard in a long time.
But Mengele was pure evil, as testimonied to me by a few Auschwitz survivors I befriended in the 90s, who were part of his child experiment group. This Dr. Nge is more like Mary Shelly's Dr. Victor von Frankenstein.

Doing stuff just because she can with no mind for consequences and when things go wrong her only concern is how it affects her? Also, in the original novel, Victor's not a doctor. He dropped out of college to focus on his experiment.

Oh good. I thought he would suffer a cirurgical removal of his eyes to substitute with mechanical ones.
Also if he can regenerate his wounds, why did the officrr needed to use his powers to restore his hand wounds? Maybe it's a temporary effect of the vial. Could say the same about his eyes :(

Oh. Maybe that's why he can't restore his face. The nanites probably are programed to restore his body "by default", so it thinks his scar is part of the "default". But then, that would implies he still could restore his hands woundw without the officer'a help.

Not as horrific as I imagined it to be, but her casual dehumanisation and lack of concern for side effects is not something to be proud of. I also noticed in panel 1 that she has a prosthetic leg. I wonder if she'll save the perfected sample for herself.
Just realised... 10cm long and 1cm deep... that is a BIG cut, the kind you do for surgery, and I'm surprised all Zaggy said was ouch.

Ah, fair enough - even though I should have recognised the whole analgesia thing (rather than a local anaesthetic), it didn't click that the experimental nanites and the analgesia were together or some such.
Now he's truly marked with those eyes - let's hope someone will sell him some sunglasses on the outside.

Well that explains a lot in fact pretty much all of it, but there's still one awful loose end to tie up. Also thanks for making things a lot more optimistic, I really needed that.

This is actually some cool stuff. I mean she probably isn't paid for talking shop so I guess her coldness could be forgiven but she certainly seems to know her stuff. This makes me think of an amusing scenario where I imagine the situation to be like someone failed to save the original state of a program so this person could now only revert to the earliest save of this body which was after he got mutilated by his jail "inmates". So let this be another lesson to ALWAYS backup your original state properly. x3

Well if they are nanites they are machines and since they work together that means they communicate with each other. Which should allow communication with them for reprogramming to allow healing/rebuilding tissue then reset defaults to that. Unless she double encrypted and L33t speak did the password if they have one?

From the good(?) Doctor's comments, I'd guess part of the test was to see if the nanobot treatment would do a full restore on existing injuries or if existing damage would be set as the default state. Since it is for this version of the treatment, the process is a fail as a combat zone medical option. It's probably not economically feasible to dose a fighting force pre-combat, and the whole thing with glowing eyes makes it even less practical for combat use as is. I wonder if any further research was made before the whole worldwide pandemic took civilization down?

This is proper affecting me and has actually kept me awake just due to the thinking of it all. Like I can't go to sleep knowing this poor guy has gone through all of what he's been through, and at such a young age because of some dirty lying rat. I'm physically angry at how easy this can happen and extremely upset for the situation Zaggy is in. It breaks my heart. I could comment on the actual comment but the verdict and his parents leaving the court room just had my breathing in yelpish yips of sadness. The comic is very engaging also and hope it gets continued. Hope the good work is being kept up and there is some happy ending here.
